hello earthlings just to let all the fans out there, there are talks about a movie in the works and its going to be (if it happens) of the first contact wars that part they have agreed on. What they haven't agreed on if it is going to be animated or not and i hear some of the actors in the game will actually be in the movie- so there will be no joker,tali, ashley, miranda, grunt, wrex, garrus well you get the point. like i said before some will appear and yes sheppard will be in it
Now if they was smart, they would do this as several of you have mentioned and it be the first contact war and the finding of the prothean ruins on mars. They would do a slight time line progression. the "end" so to speak, like during or after the credits would be best to have setup like the opening of ME 1, kinda how like Final Fantasy Crisis Core (spoiler alert for some) ended with Cloud jumping off the train. This introduces the original and cycles the story for new and old fans.
@drone124 No. There is a movie somewhat in the make, but its not based on the games. It's based on the "First Contact War" when humans first made contact with the Turians and had a war for some reason. I heard this in Empire magazine so it might be true. Just have to be patient and wait I guess.

You may think, I'm not sure, of Sam Worthington as too mainstream(maeby I have the wrong term) or not good of an actor, but I think he has proven he's got some good acting skills from his part in Terminator: Salvation and the movie Avatar. @DarthMessias i agree but you know some movies based on games eventually work out for example take the halo movie Halo Legends for instance it was based of the halo franchise and took it to a all new level it was genarelly a good film and another example would be the dantes inferno movie it was like halo legends but was more intense and made the dantes inferno game look a lot better to people who havent played it that is mainly why games are turned to movies so the game becomes more popular.

its a prequel for mass effect 1, so it should have no effect on the games other then giving shepard's roots on how he was choosen for a specter, but still might not even have shepard in it due to player's custominaztion so i'm hoping that (werid to say it) shepard WON'T be in it, to keep the story intact
I think for an actual movie, they will cut out most of ME1, and use the battle with Saren/Soveriegn as a prologue before the crash at the beggining of ME2, and then Mash together ME2 and ME3.

Personal I think the Mass Effect Film should be a prequel. The reason why most video game films do not do too well is the fact the people who see the films already have a visual image of what the character looks like. More so with a game like ME where your really get to know the characters, It would be hard to cast people for that. But if they set it before the games, and had different characters I think it would go over better. just my two cents.

QFT. the game story arc is meant to be non-canonized, so that every player can customize the experience. The first contact war would be the best way to not only satisfy the current fanbase with some untold story depth, but also bring newcomers into the universe.

@frozen10 Yeah, I agree. ME1 has a LOT of content, but alot of it is stuff that doesn't NEED to be in the movie too, you know, to further the plot and what not. Ideally, I'd love them to spend a couple minutes in the into to do a Shepard flashback to his earlier life growing up the streets, etc. You know, to really throw the epic story of it all out there. Some game-movie adaptations (like Hitman) didn't do that so well, IMO...idk, I hope they make it good...

@Biosyntheticc i've heard mass effect film will be based on the first contact war, avoiding the games all together, so any trailer with the normandy in it, is fake.. because the war is between the humans and taurians and the normandy is made by humans and taurians lol

@frozen10 Yeah, I agree. ME1 has a LOT of content, but alot of it is stuff that doesn't NEED to be in the movie too, you know, to further the plot and what not. Ideally, I'd love them to spend a couple minutes in the into to do a Shepard flashback to his earlier life growing up the streets, etc. You know, to really throw the epic story of it all out there. Some game-movie adaptations (like Hitman) didn't do that so well, IMO...idk, I hope they make it good...

and garrus or ashley.
personaly miranda would more than likely be in a Me movie,considering how the ingame model is modled after her,so all they have to do is dye her hair or use a wig.

if there was to be a ME movie, it might have to be a prequel. Like a Shepard from Day 1 thingy or something. Perhaps even after one of the books, -shrug-

The only way I would agree ith a movie about Mass Effect is when the game developers are in charge of the story, looks and special effects.
This way it would really be good and not a lame movie that ruins the title.

Ex-Marvel CEO, Avi Arad recently obtained the rights to create a film adaptation of the game. It is reported that it is still in planning and that Arad will be looking to attach a writer, director, and studio to the project.
