  • Have you read Frank Miller's Robocop?

  • I'm trying to recall if John Byrne did the cover for a Howard The Duck comic.

  • Sigh...I had both the giant sized Marvel Adaptation of King Kong in 1976 (after begging my mom to let me have one after eyeing a kid with a copy of his own Ha ha ha) and the Star Wars Marvel adaptation. Somehow, someway, I lost both...that started a heartbreaking trend. sniff..sniff..WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH...

  • have you read the comic of Kick-Ass I was thinking of buying the collection because the movie was so fucking awesome

  • I have the first 2 starblazers comics sorry could not part with them since that was one of my favorite ANIME show when I was a kid . you are right they are quite rare I only saw one complete set at a ANIME convention . that i think it be best bet to find any of them at would be at ANIME cons but they will want a lot money for them. p.s the first vol. has blueprints of the yamato.

  • @roninhall1970 D'oh! Thanks for making me want it even more now. :P Yeah, I checked ebay right after shooting this video and found ONE volume, but it was volume 2... :( I shall find Volume 1 one day, oh yes I shall... such a gorgeous set of books, I really like how they did them.

  • Sean have you read Alex Ross and Mark Waid's Kingdom Come? If not give it a try =]

  • Howard the Duck is my favorite comic book character ever, Over the last two years, I managed to get the first 12 issues in fairly good condition. What a funny comic, with great art to boot! I still have the issue with the debut of KISS waiting for me, but I'm holding off since it's so expensive.

  • @kungfuhustler84 Yes! I think poor Howard gets overlooked a lot due to the bad reputation of the movie... But the comic was bloody brilliant! One of the first comics I actually laughed out loud while reading. And some of the stories are genuinely deep and emotionally powerful (take the Quak-Fu story in issue 3, for example - who knew a story about QUAK-FU could be so poignant and thought-provoking???) Truly a testament to just how brilliant a writer Steve Gerber was, R.I.P.

  • Damn blows away my comic book collection only just over 400 of various marvel and dc comics and about forty gfx novels. Robocop was the first 18 rated movie I saw I think I must have been 11 or 12 at the time. My parents let me watch it on the condition it got muted everytime there was swearing lol too hilarious for words!

  • Have you ever read the movie adaptation of Blade Runner?

  • @Sickboy1939 I have 3 versions of that adaptation. The two issue comic version, the Super Special and the black and white pocket book version. Actually quite an accurate adaptation, though it tones down the violence and swearing of course.

  • Did you ever read Frank Miller's Robocop? its not bad

  • @dvdmike007 Nope, though he did write the screenplay for the second movie.

  • @Zaranyzerak He wrote the screenplays for 2 and 3 and the GN is those scripts unedited and uncut in GN form, its a great insight into what 2 and 3 could have been

  • @dvdmike007 Oooh, nice! Now I most definitely need to check those out.

  • hey z if your into zombie horror comic check out marvel zombies its a great one:D

  • Elfquest, such a classic, remember rented them again and again at the school library. The colour of it was so fine.

  • Nice video, Interesting to see some golden oldies of graphic novels. Hopefully you could your comic book collection (one box at a time, you don't have to overwork yourself).

  • I've got a three issue version of The Black Hole adaptation comic book. The third volume is a whole new story beyond the black hole, kind of interesting. Oh and when are you going to do an overview of your laserdisc collection?

  • @enemyofbohemia Yeah, I really need to track down that third issue one of these days. I've been curious about it ever since I first heard it was a new story! Not a lot of "Black Hole Lore" out there, so I'll take anything I can get... :)

    And yes.

  • @Zaranyzerak Nice! Can't wait for that! And yeah, i gobble up all the Black Hole stuff i can find.

  • hey z do you have any underground comics?

  • no watchmen?

  • @bracketkid82 I covered this in my Watchmen review. Annetta had Watchmen, but since she's gone it went with her. I've read it numerous times.

  • @Zaranyzerak ah i see

  • @Zaranyzerak Annetta took "Watchmen", you should buy yourself a copy sometime.

  • @sfighter991 I will, eventually. I'd really like to get that Absolute Watchmen edition, that one's sweet. But hella expensive...

  • @Zaranyzerak hey Shaun, I know you are a huuuuge video games fan so do like the series of fallout? I only have fallout 3 and fallout new Vegas. Are the older ones similar to the new ones? Thanks, keep up the good work.

  • I think they are making a live action movie of Space Cruiser Yamato, I hope they do it justice

  • @yayap001 It;s already out and has a good rep among fans

  • i no nothing about comics. how do i find out what ones are worth getting?

is there some website that will give me list?

  • @SUPERBU5 That's a tough question. Comics, like any other storytelling medium, are very subjective. Not everyone is going to like the same thing. I buy/collect primarily to read, so while many of my comics aren't terribly valuable, they are to ME because I enjoy the stories. If you're looking to get into comics, I suggest just visiting a local comic store and seeing what piques your interest. And ask the clerks what they recommend, they might have some good suggestions for your interests.

  • @Zaranyzerak reason being the WWII things were cut out of the original broadcast and there's me and my 18 year old self sitting there gawking at the half the cast going 'General We must getthe Yamato into space as soon as possible!, 'What's the progress report on the Yamato!', 'Is that the Yamato? It sank in the Eastern seas!'. Well all in all it got through the editing process rather well looking at the entire season

  • @slyther2 It's interesting to go back wand watch the original uncut Japanese version, quite a few differences between it and the U.S. translation. But yes, it was definitely one of the better translations (and had pretty decent voice acting) - especially for that time period.

  • Thank you sean!!

  • Space battleship Yamato I think not Cruiser Yamato. Just saying cause there are a lot of purists out there

  • @slyther2 Says Space Cruiser Yamato right on the cover, actually. The original creator preferred that title because he loved his boat, which was a cruiser of some kind. Both are considered correct, and anyone who says otherwise isn't as big a fan of Yamato as they think they are because...they're wrong. :)

  • @Zaranyzerak well I am lead to beieve that was the original title when they released the move compilation of iscandar in North America. I managed to head my hands on the iscandar arc (Sorry Voyager but 120 $/80 odd British pounds for 26 episodes is way outa my price ranger!) and safe to say though it's the slightly americanised adaptation of th series it's pretty damn awesome. I love how in the first 2 eps they neve covered up the fact that it was the Yamato they were using.

  • I've gotta be honest, I was expecting you to say "Now that I've got those random boxes out of the way, let's get to the Graphic Novels!"

That Marvels GN sounds like an amazing concept. I better get looking for that...

    Great Vid dude!

  • if you like gi joe you should check out the new gi joe cobra series, I here its great

  • How I wish there were Rom, Micronaughts, and Howard the Duck animated shows!

  • @CosmoShidan Yes, yes and yes! If they had come out a few years earlier (after the laws were changed regarding shows based on toys) they likely would have, that's the kicker...

  • @Zaranyzerak If I may ask, how about the Saga of Crystar?

  • what state are you from

  • @canaidiangator17 The State of British Columbia.

  • oh lucky marvels sounds like a great mini series :D

  • Thanks for doing the Graphic Novels spotlights & Alan Moore Swamp Thing episode. Looking forward to future reviews of comics when you get a chance.

    Matthew

  • Hey Z, they got those giant-sized ziploc bags you can put those in. lol

  • man those marvel treasury edition are just amazing. i think i have one of those but its of the close encounters of the third kind giant sized edition very cool through:D
