I think the problem is that Griffin tells people want they want to hear. If immigration is your itch, Nick will scratch it. If you think that your neighbourhood is plagued by killer toads from Bolivia, Nick will send the boys around to deal with it 'when' he wins the council seat. Perhaps not with BNP members and supporters as such who are probably too ingrained with their thinking, but with the 'floaters' who've voted for them not out of racism, but because of their disillusionment with the main parties and the perception that they no longer speak for them.
