@ErinStovall It's not the blood, or gore people are afraid of. It's the themes, the psychological horror, and the destruction of the main characters we're afraid of. The series is brutal, we know that, but there are MUCH more bloodier anime series out there. What makes this series scary is the rather intense and messed up decisions and actions made by the characters, leading to the worst deaths possible, and testing the very limits of one's sanity.

Worst of all, this cycle repeats itself.
