ce qui m'énerve, c'est que quand j'ai regarder le film, j'ai raté 25 minute de diffusion, et il ne le repasse pas a la télé!!! c'est dommage quand même...
Marie Antoinette wasnt an air head, contrary to popular belief she was quite the intellectual of her day, i mean she was raised in Vienna, the most intellectual city in the time, and she was the daughter of an empress, as such a descendant of a 700 yr old royal family, the french hated her because of the wars with austria and throught her entire life, nobles and commoners called her the Austriche..her extravagance shud be compared to the xtravagance of some nobles of the court, she was just hated
@guidoulolo Marie was indeed considered tall for her time, however she would be about 5'7" or so, which is short these days for a woman, it is likely that Kirsten Dunst is a better interpretation of her physically but, I personally think Joely Richardson is more like what she actually looked like in the face, as it is stated that her beauty was unparalleled.
I hate this movie!. The Countess de la Motte a poor victim?, You must be joking ... I hate the tone of the characters! I don't know who produces me more repulsion: Countess de Polignac o Countess de la Motte...poor crawling snakes
It was in the year 1779, she writes, that I painted the Queen for the first time; she was then in the heyday of her youth and beauty [she was twenty four]. Marie-Antoinette was tall and admirably built, being somewhat stout, but not excessively so. Her arms were superb, her hands small and perfectly formed, and her feet charming.
@guidoulolo Well, I was perhaps half right as she was not thin and if you take into account that people are much taller now than they would have been in the 18th century, then her being described as "tall" could bethat in relation to other people at the time, and especially to other women, she was "considered " tall. When a film is made in Europe in actual buildings and not sets do you not notice how many times the actors have to duck through doorways ? Of course, not at Versailles !
@thebackgroundartiste , some shots were done in Versailles the others in Czech republique, Paris, chateau Vaux- le - Vicompte , Campiègne ... etc ... i love this film i wonder if it is going to be someday in blu-ray ....
by the way some people say MA was 1.75 and his husband Louis XVI was almos 6'4 ( 1.93)

Louis XV was over 6 foot, however Louis XVI was almost the same height as Marie and this made her look even taller, and of course they were never painted standing together as this would have exaggerated their commonality, Joely Richardson is perhaps the most perfectly suited woman on earth to play MA as she is uncommonly beautiful by today's standards just as MA was in the18th C.
Respond to this video...Just one more thing... I LOVE MARIE ANTOINETTE'S, DEPICTION IN THIS MOVIE, BUT HATE HER WIG!!!
Hint : for those of you who believe that MA was innocent and sweet, it is clear in history that she was actually sort of an air head, tremendously privileged, spoiled and slightly naive which was unfortunate given the tremendous responsibility that was placed upon her at such a young age, resulting in a slightly bitchy persona
@sheeekk again yu have the same warped idea of MA, i dont think any movie maker will ever depict her other than what they thing is silly, and more entertaining, the affair of the necklace didnt happen, she was never a member of the kings governing council, and the french nobility hated her, resulting in the commoners hating her......so the only thing that was her fault was the extravagance, but even that isnt enough compared to the amount her predecessors used which was extremely larger
Does anyone know the name of the song playing at the end of the movie when Hillary Swank is walking down the hallway and out into the rain while there are words on the screen saying what happened to all the characters? I don't think it's on the soundtrack and I've heard it might be from Prayer Cycle but so far I haven't heard anything like it. It's a beautiful song with some weird chanting-like vocals. It's driving me crazy! Can anyone help?
who is the lady that accompanies M.Antoinette in the scene of the presentation of the necklace & of the acknowledging the sentence: Mme. Campan, duchèsse de Polignac, comptèsse d´Artois, de Provence?
its curious & a bit sad, becouse M.Antoinette, as a person, was very nice, but as she lived splendorously on the sweat & blood of the french people, its logical that almost all France hated her
I love the costumes in this film, they are really detailed and accurate to what marie antoinette wore.
