Okay so i just did some research and people still have power in their houses, dugh! lol But still, it seems a bit extreme to repo your light poles DTE!
Thank you for your thought-full comment, Sis. Erica. For most of the day, only ignorant racists hiding behind cowardly Web aliases have posted comments. For more information on this situation, see the other videos on my channel. And, please, pray for us.
OMG!!! This is crazy! Highland park is already a sketchy part of town. I can not imagine it with out any lights .This is Michigan and it gets dark pretty early. I don't see how they were able to do this. What about these residents!! What are people going to do in the dark, with no heat, no way to keep food. Wow. The time we live in. It is getting crazy out here.
To YouTube user Pauldarwinlee AND other viewers of this video... does anyone know what the current status of ths street light situation ? I have been seeing lot of different news stories about this... just tyring to keep informed.
Elite: If you don't pay us more bailout you don't deserve these anymore chumps. Give us everything or else. Fuck the bank and the Fed communist trash.
The new lighting on side of my house just fell down on my lawn today around 12pm. See what happen when the city tried to save money and pocket the rest!
nothing seems to shock me anymore the world has gone crazy it is another sad day for HP whats next fire hydrants, street signs, traffic lights. It shows that the city and government do not care about the residents who can not afford to move elsewhere.
@hogabomb I have just read your comment; this is terrible !!! I have thought that public street lights etc was always a given right in any residental area here in America but apparently nothing is sacred.anymore in name of saving money. Around my area of S.E. Washington, D.C. next to Corral Hills section of Capitiol Heights, Md .... we haven,t had that this type of problem yet. Thanks for your words here; Hold to the handle bars I could be wrong but its going to be a rough ride.
It would be compassionate for the city to set up something to help people get lawn lamps, motion lights and/or solar lamps, especially the elderly. I notice in the enclosed article that the write-in mayoral candidate, Elene Robinson, asked why the city is not applying for government funding for solar lighting. I hope this is a possibility.
the logic must be that each individual can light the area around them (from street to alley), and the municipality will save lots of money? brings a whole new meaning to this little light of mine. indeed, it is quite a throwback - we are now, unofficially a rural town - (country bumpkins) each of us, in the dark, just-moseying-on-along. cause, in the country, u need 2 be in - by sunset.
maybe the next cost-saving measure is 4 the city-overseers 2 bulldoze and dig up the streets, thus, saving the expense of fixing them. the new rural city slogan might read "no asphalt, no potholes". or, conversely, no asholes, no phault.
which explains why there is no need to honor that basic urban right - to have light. maybe a nightly candlelight vigil, will be the answer. except, most of the countryfolk are either elderly and on fixed incomes, or low incomes, or govt incomes, or no incomes - on second thought, even the candles might be hard to come by.
when those in power suggested that we (the common folk) are in the dark - who knew that they meant it literally. thanks 4 staying on point. however, at the end of the day, it will not be enough 2 simply document the faustian shift. cause at the end of the day, it gets dark, 4real, and no one can or will see what is truly taking place - save, those who operate in darkness.
This is unbelievable. They are acting with impunity, knowing there are few residents left in HP who care enough to make a stink, and by the time anyone does find out, it's too late. Disconnecting the street lights is one thing, but why did they have to completely remove them? It's as though they want to ensure that there is no way in Hell HP will have a bright future.

Talk about a step backwards. Hey, lets take the engines out of our cars and attach horses to the front to save some bucks and help the environment.

Solar light poles are VERY expensive and easy to vandalize or steal. I've already looked into this.

Unbelievable! It was jarring to see someone cutting his lawn in the background as if nothing was happening.

This is truly unbelievable most of the residents are elders of the community and should not be left in the dark.
People need to stand together and fight this!
