  • it looks delicious! hopefully you have time to check these comments because i need that shrimp, orka, and sausage recipe girl! Share! the recipe, feed the world!!! lol

  • yeah, i don't eat catfish either because it's a bottom feeder (or salmon, can't stand the taste).

  • @cheffaklng im sure you can use butterfish instead or Talapia

  • @debnheirs there's no reason to do that, especially when you're fillng the pan up with oil, lol. But that is how you would season a new or restored cast iron pot or pan. Greasing or seasoning a pan that is already seasoned is redundant, especially when frying.

  • This makes me want some fish with tarter sauce and hot sauce mixed together. Lol!

  • your hair is fabuloussss!!!!

  • My goodness! That catfish looks so darn good. It looks so crisp and light. Then it also looks like it has alot of flavor. I'm going to try this recipe.

  • girl you know you like some fried food

  • Hey Ateeya, question, I have a cast iron but never greased it before frying...why add oil or grease it if you are adding oil to it? May sound silly but I never knew or thought to do that in advance of adding oil.

  • My bigmama fry her fish some what like this with buttermilk and it is AWESOME.... thank good im from the south.........

  • Whoaaa you got Patron and Rum on that back cabinet?? lol

  • ateyaa I didnt know you had kids awww that is so sweet...maybe one day you can show a picture :)

  • @bigtrice2008 ateyaa doesn't have kids. She just said she wanted to pass the cast iron down to her son or daughter one day.

  • amen

  • We luv u too AT. I will try this with cod...not big on cat fish. Thanks for the video.

  • love the cooking videos. catfish is my fav. food lol

  • It looks delish, but do you taste the buttermilk after the fish is cooked? A relative cooked chicken that had been dipped in buttermilk and the buttermilk flavor was there. I did not like the chicken because of the buttermilk flavor. I am more thinking since the fish is not soaked in it, it will not have the strong buttermilk flavor.

  • Mmm looks good! "-)

  • @ateyaaa

when my grandma used to make yellow cornmeal catfish she would take the fish and rub it with cayenne pepper and yellow (French's) mustard. Then she would dip it in the cornmeal that had been seasoned with garlic powder, black pepper, and seasoning salt. Fry and Grub...and it is DELISHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • Love it when you cook!! Could you make some delicous southern food?? I'm Mexican but I want to learn to cook some soul food! Yum!!

  • This fish looks delicious!!!Thanks for sharing!!!

  • Maan, fried fish is so good but all that fried shit is whats causin all this cancer and these vicious heart attacks and strokes, that shit aint no joke...grease bad for the blood. Took time to get away from the fried but im lovin the baking substitution

  • @tylus17 It's bad fats that's causing illness. Fatty acids like found in salmon is excellent. Did you know fatty acids may change your brain's chemistry?

You can be less bitchy. Omega for you, boo?

  • @12quillemall5321

Yes omega fats are good for you. However she is frying the catfish, It certainly is no coincidence that the states with the highest rates of strokes are also the states with the highest consumption of fried fish.

Also you can't really compare catfish to salmon. Catfish is a bottom feeder. It filters it's food from the muck found at the bottom of ponds, rivers etc. While salmon has a higher rate of omega 3's and other nutrients catfish doesn't have.

  • can u use canolia oil or does it have to be peanut?

  • @makaylis

I would use canola. Peanut oil has a high rate of saturated fat (fats that raise blood cholesterol) and low Monounsaturated fat (fats that lower blood cholesterol)

  • ok so just so you will know you jus maght be able to get this pan rom ebay 4 less I DONT KONW HOW MUSC THO [ idk ]

  • omg, that looks sooooo yummy.

  • the yellow looks more crisp and i dont even like fish

  • looks good

  • In England we have two types of Cornmeal, coarse cornmeal and a smoother one, which should you use? Great vid and everything looks so good, I am drooling :-)

  • @Cutchswife either can be used

  • @cowboyboom Thanks so much :-)

  • Gee thanks Ateyaaa...it's too late to go fry fish so I'ma crack open these sunflower seeds this late and pretend they are fried fish and potatoe salad lol

  • This looks amazing, I've added it to my favs. I have a question, if you are frying the fish in oil, why grease the skillet?

  • @KandieeCurls when you are using those old heavy cast iron skillets or deep fryers you have to "season" it by greasing it like ateya mentioned, I've seen my aunt season hers before and after she uses it, to keep from rusting. when we moved out of the house I grew up in we found cast iron skillets in the attic, my aunt took those bad boys down and seasoned them up and those things fried like they hadn't been stored away for 15 yrs, good old reliable cookware cast iron skillets are the way to go

  • looks so good ateyaaa i cant wait till I'm finished wit my diet to try this good job

  • Girl, u should've thrown in some oysters or shrimp in there too. :)

  • I have been waiting for another cooking food. I LOVE fried fish, this looks so good...but this definitely has no room in my weight loss plan :( But I can live through the video...right? lol

  • So i've gained 2 pounds thus far for my ever increasing appetite from watching your video! LOL! Thanks Teya! I'm tryig this tomorrow for my mommie!
