Saw this band in Toronto at the horseshoe Tavern and they were such a amazing band they could've been given better recognition but in in 93-94 these boys had the goods to write a good song that got people to listen. RIP Billy Cowsill it was a pleasure meeting you and even joining you on stage.
thanks so much for posting these videos.such a sad loss.received my on the floor of heaven cd in the mail sat.great group-great songs.we miss you billy.been a fan since 67.rip
I saw these guys at Club Soda in Montreal way back when and must say it was one of the highlights of my life. A great band, so sad that Billy is not with us.Their 1st cd is still one of fave's till this day.
this is one of my favorites of the blue shadows.....great tricky lyricks and melody...I listen to them often and wish I couldve seen them live............also the Mecca cafe looked like a great party place with the co-dependents....Billy R.I.P
You know today when you hear a band live and it's so processed... so put through a sound system that you feel like you're listening to the original recording through an enormous stereo!!! Bah!
Well this ain't that. This is the sound of 4 men making music right before yer eyes. Takes a lot of courage to sing harmonies with no monitors!
Rest in Peace Billy!
Thanks to YouTube and wjnipod, The Blue Shadows will not be forgotten.
Thanks for posting this, the Blue Shadows were such a great band! I love their sound, their singing is amazing. Billy Cowsill was wonderful...RIP. Never heard of the Blue Shadows until I started watching Cowsills videos on Youtube. What a treat to discover the Blue Shadows courtesy of these videos. Plan to buy some of their cds as soon as I can.
These two were great together....I remember Jeffery Hatcher when he played with his bro in Jeffery Hatcher and The Big Beat. They were out of Winnipeg then....AWESOME
I was there, man! What a blast from the ever more distant past. The Blue Shadows existed on the Vancouver music scene at a time when everything was gauged through the lens of Seattle, so they were a bit of an oddity. Besides this gig, I got to see them at least two other times at the Starfish Room. Billy Cowsill, what more can be said? He played at my school in Burnaby the month I moved out West, and at a pub on Broadway Ave the night I moved away (1990-1999). And Jeffrey and JB, heavy cats too.

Billy was a great rhythm player and you really can hear and see that on this wonderful song, my Blue Shadows favourite, at least right now!!!

OK! I looked again... they do have monitors.
But in the video response posted above, no monitors were used. In fact Billy and the boys rarely used them in a small room.
Peace!
