What about eating aloe vera and good flora for internal health benefits? Does it naturally provide probiotics or do you need to eat probiotic-rich foods if the aloe also cleans out probiotics?

  • Medicinal Plants : Weed ;D

  • plant vampire!!!

  • When you first cut the aloe vera, you will see yellowish-green stuff, and that is aloin. This is an irritant that can have side efffects. Read up on aloin before you use it.

  • If you get sunburned here in AU, the first thing you do it apply aloe very gel. It is superb... like you mentioned!

  • At my school we have one of these in the window sill that is probably 2-3 feet in diameter and everyone breaks pieces off.

  • You have an Aids scab on your hand.

  • that's smart thinking, jeff.. my mother has a HUGE aloe plant in her house. she's had it for years.. and we use that plant for just about anything and everything! i'm glad you posted this vid. =)

  • Shortening your stories would make them more appealing. 6 Minutes for Aloe Vera is kind of over-extending it.

    Good description of the plant.

  • I think im going to pick one of these up sometime, would be cool to have a live plant in my room that I can actually go to and medicate myself with if needed.

  • would it last if you put it in a bottle or container ?

  • Years ago I got a really bad sunburn and I had some aloe growing in the back yard. I cut some off and spread it on the burn and the pain stopped immediately. That stuff is amazing.

  • Very cool, native Americans used it and other plants for natural healing.

It's great how the earth has healing plants.

  • been watching ur videos for little while now and love ur channel, am definitely picking one of these up now, lol

  • Its also good for reef rash. Something I learned the hard way surfing in So. Calif. good vid. good info.

  • They stink when you cut them open.

  • pretty well plant! At Holiday's in Dominican Republic i had one a pretty bad Sunburn, the immigrants gave me some sticks to put it on the Skin. It cools very good and screw the pain away^^

  • yah like my family uses it for sunburns because we live in texas

  • can you drink the juice?

  • @Calloween1 No. It tastes horrrid.

  • @Calloween1 NO!!! it tastes like s*** and i believe it's poisonous

  • @verisharp if you're talking about aloe, its not poisonous, and it is rich in many nutrients. Aloe is often added to medicines and nutritional supplements, and you can also buy something called "aloe juice" It doesn't taste all that great, but it's a good source of nutrients. =]

  • will it die iff u cut of the tip like that?

  • @new9876 no, it heals.

  • mine had some yellow sap....wtf is that?

  • Respond to this video...when r u going to review the small fly trainer

  • garbage bags are 1000x more conducive to slipping then banana peels, but not as funny.

  • Awesome :)

Never knew the anatomy of a aloe vera plant

    Might get one :D

  • yeah i gave two to my grandparents

  • Hi Jeff, If you don't mind I would love to send a video responce tomorrow about my aloe plant that we have had for years and years. I planted it out by the pool and it took off like you would not believe. I also have an aloe plant I found that grows wild in Florida.

  • i see these things all over arizona

  • You wouldn't use it for third degree burns though.

  • Whats next weed? LOL JK. 5/5

  • aloe is amasing

  • thanks jeff

  • Would It Works For Road Rash?

  • 4:17 Lol looks like something else...

  • I have to recommend buying a plant, and not a seed. The seeds only appear when you cross two plants of different species, but all aloe breeds are very similar and do the same thing. I bought a packet of seeds in January and as of 5/21/10 it's only a cm tall. It takes WAY to long.

  • i live in phoenix arizona, i see them in the wild like every day

  • lol just kidding with you bud

  • i gots one of those and after getting a bad sunburn at the beach it saved my life haha

  • i have 8 cats i dont need any more lives 72 is plenty lol

  • were u helping ur disabled neighbor?

  • @salmohmand no, actualy my best friends brother was in a coma from a dtrug overdose we found him, later we were cleanign up the house..thats when I fell, hes ok now though and back home...

  • @cutlerylover tell him the internet hopes he gets gets well and doesn't have it happen again. Drug overdoses are horrible for everyone involved.

  • @cutlerylover

Your brother must of been scared as sh...?

My brother tried to commit suicide by o/ding on pills several years back, I was the one that found him, semi conscious, with pills all around him. Luckily he survived, but talk about scary. Prayers up for your friends' brother to realize what he's doing and stop before anything worse happens.

  • @cutlerylover I meant to say your friend's brother in that other post.

lol sorry man, a few hours of sleep and a long day......got another one ahead: Take care.

  • @cutlerylover hes going to rehab then? or maybe the overdose was enough to make him stop?

  • @cutlerylover

Did he get arrested for the drug overdose or was it a legal drug like Advil or Tylenol?

  • @airsoftguy85rocks you dont get arrested for an overdose... unless the police find you in possesion.

  • @purpleAiPEy

you're right but usually when you get an overdose, they usually test you to see what narcotic you overdosed at the hospital

  • haha i had one of those in my garden

  • Aloe Vera is actually really good in this type of pudding, and drinks, if you want a really good drink go to your grocery store and look for apple juice with aloe bits! really good i recommend it!

  • i can think of another medicinal plant...hahahahahhaha

  • this is awesome for sunburns

  • its good for burns

  • my uncle has a small aloe vera tree with like 19 feets .... he use it for almost every...one time i burn my self cooking and the aloe vera was much better than those burns ointments...really awesome plant

  • haha, funny story. i was watching this video last night. this morning i was watching one of your balisong tutorials. i tightened up my a tad bit, and I did just did a basic verticle opening, and the blade didn't swing open then i got a nasty cut on my pinky. then i remember this video haha. i stopped the bleeding, put some hydrogen peroxide on it, air dry, then i put some aloe vera on it. so soothing ahah.

    thanks!

  • Aloe is overrated. Not many people know that a cucumber has the exact same healing affects.

  • @FatzoMcUgly

How many people want to grow cucumbers just to rub it on their cuts?

Aloe Vera grows quicker, doesn't take as much effort and thus, is more effective.

It'll also heal itself and keep on growing, while a cucumber.......well... it's a cucumber dude.

  • @illogicalmethod YOU're a cucumber!

  • Great video Jeff,is there any other good plants we should know about?

  • Hey Jeff...suppose you could harvest some of the "gel" and put it in a small water-tight container (loksak, ziplock, etc) so you could have it with you in your EDC or BOB bag??

  • @BrewByU or make a hat with that pot on the top so you grow aloe vera on your head!

  • works great for cuts, burns, mosquito stings and basically every skin problem.

however don't use it on open wounds.

the outer "shell" can cause permanent damage to the digestion system.

  • Hey Jeff...suppose you could harvest some of the "gel" and put it in a small water-tight container (loksak, ziplock, etc) so you could have it with you in your EDC or BOB bag??

  • I've always had one of these around ever since I was a kid. When I moved it didn't make the move so I have to get another one. A must for anyone who likes to do Zippo tricks.

  • Very nice video dude. I'm a fan of aloe. My mom always kept it around the house when I was a kid, and it came in handy. When I was 10-12, can't remember, I was working around our burn pile in tennis shoes, no socks. A coal wound up with a coal in my shoe, right up against my skin just under my ankle. Took me a minute to notice. Wound up with a 2nd-3rd degree burn. We used the aloe and it worked wonders. Great stuff.

  • Try putting it in drinks

  • actually really enjoyed this, you should do more on plants that can be used for healing etc

  • Our aloe plant take up a 55 gal wine barrel.

  • i got one of these its really helpfull

  • i love it, thanks! i didn't know this.. i always use aloe vera cream for my sun burns.. i'm a red head so i'm burnt in like 10 minutes in the sun.. i think i'm going to buy one of these plants :D

  • That's funny my grandfather was the who taught me about it

  • oh gosh jeff, so many hobbies

  • OMG ur using the same knife as i usually use in camps :O when are you going to have a review on it tho i have no idea how to use it well .

  • how often do you have to water it?

... yea I don't know alot about plants

  • @CurseLord

I can put it this way.

You could stick it outside in the desert and it'll prosper. :)

  • OMG you are amazing. You made one plant last for 6:15. That is awesome

  • Aloe Vera is awesome. But as far as i know, it tastes really bad (don't ask me why I'm thinking of that right now... it looks so juicy). It's a great plant. Cool vid Jeff!

  • i use this for sunburn

  • Do many people know about this in the states? Maybe its just more common in Australia, I have always known about and used aloe gels and things as a kid, seems like everyone else knows about the plant too.

  • apply directly to the forehead!

  • .burnt my hand -- I squidged out some of the juice and rubbed it on .a couple times..nearly healed now...pretty much twice as fast as usual .

I use it internally too but filtered and made into a drink. helps me YMMV

    cool plant...

  • There's a shitload of these in Malaysia, and i don't know why XD

  • Technically a sunburn is a burn from a fire! A really be fire...

  • neighbors across the street have a huge patch of it in front of their house and I remember as kids we had heard about aloe for cuts, etc and we used to break them off and rub them on our random cuts, never knowing if it actually worked or not.

  • my school has a big asian population, and so we sell asian foods in our school store, and there are a lot of drinks that have aloe in them, kinda tastes like grape

  • Going to buy it

  • i used yto have one of these it was like 20 times bigger then that one but my cats decided it would be a tastey snack

  • Thats a small aloe plant,cool though i guess.

  • 3:46 That's what she said.

  • @windexfighter77 She said that to you?

    Kinda twisted =/

  • i use aloe very for when me and my friends test new pepper spray, it helps with the burning. no joke. lol
