  • 'This is Amsterdam and this is my bike.'

after shopping: 'This is Amsterdam and my bike is gone.'

  • Of course Amsterdam has got much more than fiets, example Coffeeshops...

  • Hahahahah 4:23 for the win. Who needs subwoofers in the trunk when you have a bike?

  • at 2:11 what type of bike is tht i want won

  • ''everywhere in the city there are things that you like.'' _\|/_ (:

  • wat een verschrikkelijke slechte rap zeg

  • 0.50 FTW i live there :D

  • this is utopia... the best place in the world... i wonder how many years is needed to build such bicycle society in my country... i'm very sad that i've never been in holland...

  • @YACOOO Utopia, hmm… you ought to see the local "bikes". Squeaky rusty iron with wheels bent out of all propriety.

  • With a "Normaal is al gek genoeg" national motto - and Amsterdammers being much more prone to rigorously living by this formula than, say, inhabitants of smaller towns & villages in the country (rather than the opposite!), who own the 95% of proper road, mountain, touring and hybrid bikes in The Netherlands - even better city bikes if you care for that sort of thing - it's highly unlikely that Amsterdam will ever be a bike-friendly city. It is, indisputably, a bicycle thief's paradise instead.

  • - 99% of Amsterdam houses are built for midgets (although the Dutch are often taller than your average statistical non-Dutch) with narrow doors, their 60cm-wide (often spiralling), ridiculously steep stairways and generally very small apartments. An occasional relatively spacious Canal house (€5000 - €6000 a month per apartment) will dupe you into an erroneous assumption that the locals don't suffer from an irremediable scantness cult. Too little is too much for the locals, tiny - sufficient.

  • - Bicycle parking racks are grossly outnumbered by the quantity of bicycles. You won't find a free rack to accommodate your bike 99.5 times out of 100. - Proper, high-end bikes are extremely rare in Amsterdam because they wouldn't lasthalf an hour parked anywhere in the town short of in the relative safety of your house.

  • The neo-shamanistic chant irritates me. More to the point, Amsterdam isn't a bicycle-friendly town. Because: - 99.999% of the local bikes are junk. - Amsterdam swarms with bike thieves, and they're never duly punished. Instead of having their fingers amputated the local police tend to engage in a chitchat with them, then release them. - Most bicycle parking racks - by the way are designed by ignorami and will scratch your bike.

  • I live in Amsterdam for 2 years now, and 3 bikes have been stolen from me so far, damn criminals!

Only buy 40€ used ones now.

  • @GeorgeFlush322 I've got about 10 stolen from me through a 12 years' course. The local police is comprised of useless idiots. of course, when you think about, where isn't it? Bloody good-for-nothing fools.

  • @LeoInterHyenaem

Don't you think it might have been a good idea to invest in a proper lock, or use one of the many "fietsenstallingen" available to yourself.

And the local police would be useless idiots, if they where chasing after your bicycle thieves !

    Numpty !

  • @chrisfrom56 Proper lock, my gullible friend! First off, a determined thief would get any lock broken. On one occasion it took a little dirty drug-addicted pleb (whose mug I unfortunately failed to make out duly to break his temples and tear off his lower jaw, the lucky lowly little devil!) less than 5 minutes to break a rather tough lock. I parked my bike for a hasty amorous exploit - looked out of the window a couple of minutes - 5 at most - to make sure my bike was parked…

  • It wasn't. The lock had been broken and disposed off. My rig lay a few metres from the pole it had been chained to. Needless to say, I felt like a lion whose quarry had disappeared in thin air the moment it appeared to be within his reach. Quite the disappointment! Not so for the pleb who lived to tell his tale to his fellow coke-sniffing mates. Apart from that, I've stumbled upon many a split heavy-duty chain link on Amsterdam streets. Hundreds and hundreds.

  • @LeoInterHyenaem I find it rather amusing to hear that "A little dirty drug addicted pleb" can actually break your "rather tough lock " 10 times in 12 years !

Some people will never learn !

    Again "Numpty"

  • @chrisfrom56 kom op zeg.. betonschaar en ijzerzaag en een busje of iets anders waar de fiets in verborgen en vervoert kan worden is alles wat nodig om een paar mooie fietsen in een stille buurt op te pikken..

  • @chrisfrom56 Also, Chris. Am I bound to have your typical AmsterDumpst "bike" to minimise the chances of its theft? You see, in provinces one-fourth the young and mid-aged men and quite a few older souls sport proper bicycles - titanium, carbon, alluminium at worst - cross-country, road bikes, stylish hybrids, randonneurs and touring bikes. In this bloody Bike Theft Capital not no one (largely) has a worthwhile bike. Has, of course to do with the locals' mentality, but also with fear of theft

  • @chrisfrom56 and the total disregard for beautiful things the locals are known for. I had had known someone who reacted to my delight upon a sight of a Lamborghini by complaining: "Het is erg! Zo'n auto niemand hoeft te hebben. Ik haat dit soort auto's! Wat denken ze van zichzelf! Als mijn buurman zoiets had (mind you, the fool know nothing of Lamborghinis, but even to her the distinction of such a beauty was rather obvious). No, try parking a €6.000 bike in Amsterdam for half a day, unattended

  • @chrisfrom56 As for the (local) police, yes - they are idiots for I've been fined for a 5-metre long sidewalk "ride" for the street was blocked for repair. Or for having been seen on a bike in a market. Who then should deal with the bike-stealing vermin, the public? I rather not spend 10 years in jail for every worthless little parasite, you see. If anything, they should do their work to protect that very vermin from my likes (alas, there aren't many around).

  • @GeorgeFlush322

Is it expensive to live in amsterdam? i assume it is.

  • wonder why the handle bars set up sooo high tho..? makes no sense

  • @MyTrx1

you don't wanna cycle for hours in a row, day in day out with backproblems, do you?

    That's why.

  • @MyTrx1 It makes your back straight, the sadle are different too. so you can almost relax.

  • they ride bikes everyday n some of them they`re still fat

  • @MrNachoman22 Population of the USA are the fattest compared to the Dutch.

  • Looks like an EX1...ungraded.

  • Hadden ze geen echte rapper in kunnen huren?
