hey! thanks for this video... I'm like 80% sure that I'm going to get a club date the galaxy finnish! beatiful set and extremely hard to find :O but yeah where did you find them and how mutch did they cost?
And what does that mean exactly? Sorry, I'm a newbie and I'm thinking about getting the GB hats. I'm concerned about breaking them though! I don't bash my cymbals but I don't have a womanly touch either ;)
I have a 24" Giant Beat and it cracked......but it was within a year of when I purchased it, so it was covered. Paiste put up a fight about even sending me another one.
Hello again. Two questions - first, are these the reissued Giant Beats or the vintage? Second, do you think they crack easily, because I'm a pretty heavy player, and I'm thinking whether to buy these or to go for the 2002's. Much appreciated.
@grajdrums - These are reissues and they are fairly thin. The Giant Beat HH were so thin that they would detune if you really laid your foot into them. That's why I got the 2002 HH.
The rest of the Giant Beat cymbals have a ton of wash so if you beat the hell out of the 24" ride it really starts ringing.
So if you're a banger and worried about cracking them or want to retain more ping and stick definition then the 2002's are probably your best bet.
@ludwigtrap Thanks, and sorry for sending that message - the comment didn't appear at first. Anyways, I'll conisder before buying now, thank you again.
i have a ride that sounds awfully similiar to one of the giant beats: a bosphorus 20" new orleans ride. i might just have to get the giant beat ride =)
well i bought a 24 ride id did not hold up tothe bonham bell infact after obout a few times playing i noticed small indentures around the bell also way to washy as apposed to the 2002
Sounds nice to me. Thanks for the demo. Makes me fantasize about getting into drums but I think the family would evict me. I'll have to make do with improvised percussion instruments.
the cymbals sounds very good are amazing

should i go for 15'' 2002 medium hi hats or sound edges?
my other cymbals are a 2002 24'' crash and a 20'' 2002 medium crash.
im a big fan of bonzo's and dave grohls work, but i'm also looking for cymbals i can use in different styles.

@dtigers27
If you're overly concerned about breaking the GB h/h then I'd consider the 2002.
Soundwise the the GB are "sloppier" or have more wash and less chik than the 2002.
ludwigtrap 1 year ago
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you go with the 15" Giant beat hats?
dtigers27 1 year ago
@dtigers27
The Giant Beat Hi-Hats were too thin for my taste plus I"m a big fan of the sound edge.

Very cool. Good job, sir!

Unbelievable! These are just phenomenal sounding cymbals. Nothing can beat a Paiste. NOTHING! Bright. Crisp. Loud. Excellent sustain. I LOVE Paiste!

Giant Beats are amazing cymbals, it just that they are made to Bonham sizes.
crlaw75 1 year ago
Do you always play light like this? If you like Bonham, you should be beating the hell out of these.
grajdrums 2 years ago
This is a cymbal demo not a stroke fest.
Listen to Rain Song; brushes!
ludwigtrap 2 years ago
Stroke fest? :D
I'm not saying that Bonham didn't or couldn't play light, but face it, his main style was really hard.
grajdrums 2 years ago
Fair enough, my point is that Bonham had finesse that belies his Cro-Magnon man stereotype and that this video is about cymbal tone, not technique.

Very nice tight drumming.
Nothing too fancy or complex but still has that same effect.
Loving that funk/rock/pop groove from 1:42 onwards had a great feel to it.
Also love the 2002 soundedge hi-hats. Hopefully when I get a new drums kit I'll be getting some decent cymbals!
Thanks pd95 :)

Paiste's are without a doubt the best and most musical cymbals available.
I'm just wondering whether to get the Bonham Giant Beat set up, or a similar Twenty set up.
