Touhou - It's not as LP-based as Mario or some other side-scrolling action. It's hard, and it takes a lot of concentration. It's also more patterened (less variety) than sidescroll action games.
It's better for a veteran to upload a set of good performance videos that are focused on accomplishments rather than blind play. In other words, it's better for just "playthrough" or at least a walkthrough than an LP at the non-veteran level.
Romhack - At first it's interesting to see some modified and reconstructed levels, but some people act like that's the only thing out there to play...
I don't get it. You upload one romhack video on Youtube, and suddenly you're one of those "LPers" that attract more romhack/hack video requests. It's just sad.
Trust me when I say the actual touhou games make terrible LP fodder. To one credit them you have to play them to death because you really cannot do it going in blind. I did Lotus Land Story to more to show it off because the PC-98 games get no love, but I would not recommend seriously doing the Windows games.
The masses appear to say a big fat NO to touhou. I would like to see you try out in a video or two to see how you do though, but a full lp would take a long time and you may not get too far in the end x_x

Would there be any point in submitting it to you?
From what I've played of them, the Touhou games are pretty fun, at least on Easy or Normal. I don't think it would be a terrible idea to LP one of them, and to be honest, they probably wouldn't take that long, seeing as how they are games you beat in one sitting. You should probably play one of them if you do decide to LP them though, and see how you do.
Also, Megamari is fun and a good game, if you like Megaman styled games.

You seem to be passable at fighters; if you want a break from platforming ROMhacks, perhaps try a Super Marisa World-level voice-act of SWR?

However, if you destroy a part and that causes other parts to no longer be attached, they will all be destroyed, increasing your shiny "Chain destroy" counter at the end of the level. This is the best way to get maximum pointage if you care about these things.

You know, raocow, I think it's time to step away from Mario-esque games for a little. I think it'd be awesome if you LPed MegaMari. I mean, I know Mario hacks are kinda your thing, but I really think MegaMari would be a nice change of pace.
MegaMari is also not that hard if you're decent enough at Mega Man, while still having plenty of hilarious deaths. It certainly gets the Madalin Seal of Approval.
Question: If there was someone who wanted to send you a single-level ROM hack, and only asked for your opinion on the quality of the level (they didn't ask you to upload it to YouTube or anything, but to just try it out for the heck of it), would you consider playing it?
The only touhou game that would really work with raocow's entire "lets play a a levelish thing each day" would probably be shoot the bullet. Just because its the only one that actually divides the game up instead of making you do all the stages in one go.
Raocow LPing a Touhou game would be pretty silly and probably full of "Demos" if you know what I mean.
Since it takes many runs to get how the game works, we would be just seeing a very small part of what Raocow plays, and it would take maybe a bit more of his time.
The best he could do about it would be play one and get completely killed in Stage 4. In any game. And just that, a single video.
Of course Raocow will keep playing Mario romhacks and whatever else he wants to.
But if you want to play another Touhou related game, you can go for Megamari or Super Marisa Land.

But both games are made by Tasogare Frontier, who also cooperated in making the two official Touhou fighting games, so you can guess how decent these two games are.

I say go ahead and try blind runs of the Touhou games. Believe it or not, I find those to be the more entertaining of the bunch, since it's funner to see someone who hasn't played the series before play than someone (like say me for instance here), who's played them so many times and know how everyone works (even if they can't react at the right time ^^;; )

raocow you are already an amusing person. So playing a game like touhou on a level difficulty that is stupid in a blind run would actually be quite amusing. mostly because it is already difficult without being a hack. So I say do it, but in the end it is up to you.

I wouldn't. Even with a good player and a lot of editing, the commentary would just become a constant chain of variations on "Oh god, guys, you have no idea how many times I died here", "This part is easier than it looks", and "That wasn't there on lower difficulties"

A touhou LP wouldn't be that interesting, considering the videos would be over in one or two days. Just keep doing your platform games, in my opinion they usually last the longest with a lot of levels.
As for recomendations, you're actually the one who recomends rom hacks for me (I play the ones after you play them) so I don't really have any ideas.
I would ask you to do co op lp's of something just for the hell of it but I don't see you as a cooperative person in your lp's. But do what you think is fun :)

There's one principle I will always stick to - do what you want to do. The goal of this hobby is to have fun, so good on you for not feeling the need to appease people's appetites for their rom hacks.

I'm against the idea of LPing Touhou blind for pretty much all the reasons mentioned in the other comments. Touhou isn't really interesting to watch unless the player is really, really good at it, in my opinion.
Play Touhou fangames, and play them in your spare time, but don't LP Touhou /itself/.
Touhou is not a thing you can beat by just throwing yourself at it constantly! Except maybe on Easy and using all your continues, but even then you might not make it to the final boss and win and everything.
Plus doing the EX bosses would be nearly impossible, no continues!
HOWEVER, not-quite-as-hard fangames like Megamari or Super Marisa World or Land or Stuff is a different thing altogether. LP those maybe!
As a few people have said, I really don't know how you'd LP a Touhou game, no matter who you are. Even Kefit's EoSD LP was more aimed toward people who wanted tips on how to get better.
I think the most interesting thing raocow could do in an official Touhou game video is react to Kogasa or Unzan, but I'm pretty sure it's too late for that anyway.
And really, I'd rather see An Untitled Story over anything else.
Don't LP a Touhou shooter. It takes far too much concentration while playing to do anything but post-commentary on a replay.
How about LPing Super Marisa Land? The level design is a lot calmer than World, but there is still the occasional arghwtf moment, and the physics engine is that of the ORIGINAL Super Mario Bros as opposed to the fairly tame Super Mario World engine or the flighty Super Marisa World engine.
I think the only Touhou game that would make a nice LP is Shoot the Bullet (Touhou 9.5). The format of that game would lend itself to a LP without having to edit too much. Unfortunately, it is also significantly tougher than the other Touhou games.
As for Touhou, I don't know how well that'd translate into LP form, since it does require lots of concentration, coming up with random LP banter would be nigh impossible and it wouldn't be too good.
I'd be more interested in seeing you LP MegaMari if you would consider that (after An Untitled Story of course).
I've never played Touhou, but from what I've seen it requires a lot of memorization and focus. You yourself pointed out in this video that you can't really focus on games while talking, so a blind run of Touhou probably wouldn't be easy on video. My fear is that you might become too frustrated with it and we may have a repeat of save stateless Vip.
On the other hand, you should be able to make decisions for yourself about this stuff. If you think you'd have fun playing Touhou, go for it.

you should keep doing what you are doing. you are to good at romhacks and that sort of thing to do the toho (or whatever) games. you should keep doing good romhacks because videos are more entertaining when the hack is interesting and when you are having fun playing.
I'd love to see you LP Touhou, but it seems like kind of a bad idea. Somehow, I imagine it would take too long, and that you'd become uninterested at one point or another.

It'd be hilarious if you LPed the good toohoo games namely 6, 7, 8. They aren't as hard as they look, even on normal. It's because the hitboxes are so damn small.
If you're a "gamer" you can beat the touhou games on normal difficulty, usually.
Don't play on lunatic though. Normal or hard should suffice. Me, Kefit, Rabienroll and probably lots of random dudes could give you tips as well.
I'm flattered that you think I'm in any position to give anyone advice on how to play the shooters, but I'll admit up-front I have no business advising anyone on them.
You get Phoenix - Infinity because you constantly kill from the front, and you spread your damage around. Try to make a few kills from other sides, and narrow down your spray to kill quickly if you want to go on the 'catastrophe' branch.
If you're really bad at Touhou I guess you could always extensively edit and dub over ex post to create a smoother experience. This probably violates your personal LP credo, though :)

I'm not saying you should do a blind run at all. That would be completely unreasonable. Zelda Classic is based on the engine of the origonal nes Zelda, so it involves a lot of exploration, stupidly designed dungeons, and going around trying to get things to drop bombs.
Im suggesting either an informed LP, or having someone make some sort of hint sheet for you to use if you get stuck. Also, mass amounts of editing and chipmunking.
The only issue with a tohuhou LP is you can't really save in the middle, so every time you want to make another continuation, you would have to re play to get to the certain point. So initially you would have to do it in one take.
If I were to suggest a good SHMUP, I would suggest Ether Vapor. Its a extremley popular SHUMP in the doujin community. Go youtube it quickly it might interest you. I know its a hypocritical thing for me to suggest this considering the content of this video.
here's a question if some one makes an uber awesome rom hack to the status of VIP and it's requested would you play it then? also if some one asked to test a hack without recording it just for feed back how would that go over?
1- Typicaly, when someone seems earnest about the quality of their hack, I ask for a short demo video of a typical situation, and I can see from there. If you think you can impress me, hey, give it a shot, but I'm PICKY.
2- I want to say no because of time issues mostly. As some of you know, my lps is almost 100% of my total gaming time, and I just don't think I could do justice as a sort of playtester because of that.
I agree with you on the touhou thing, even though it would be fun to see you play it (and maybe somewhat succeed) it wouldn't go well.

raocow you are already an amusing person. So playing a game like touhou on a level difficulty that is stupid in a blind run would actually be quite amusing. mostly because it is already difficult without being a hack. So I say do it, but in the end it is up to you.
Also I was wondering if I might be capable of obtaining said games as well. I have attempted to find them and have failed.

I wouldn't. Even with a good player and a lot of editing, the commentary would just become a constant chain of variations on "Oh god, guys, you have no idea how many times I died here", "This part is easier than it looks", and "That wasn't there on lower difficulties"

A touhou LP wouldn't be that interesting, considering the videos would be over in one or two days. Just keep doing your platform games, in my opinion they usually last the longest with a lot of levels.
As for recomendations, you're actually the one who recomends rom hacks for me (I play the ones after you play them) so I don't really have any ideas.

I'm against the idea of LPing Touhou blind for pretty much all the reasons mentioned in the other comments. Touhou isn't really interesting to watch unless the player is really, really good at it, in my opinion.

Play Touhou fangames, and play them in your spare time, but don't LP Touhou /itself/.
Touhou is not a thing you can beat by just throwing yourself at it constantly! Except maybe on Easy and using all your continues, but even then you might not make it to the final boss and win and everything.
Plus doing the EX bosses would be nearly impossible, no continues!
HOWEVER, not-quite-as-hard fangames like Megamari or Super Marisa World or Land or Stuff is a different thing altogether. LP those maybe!

As a few people have said, I really don't know how you'd LP a Touhou game, no matter who you are. Even Kefit's EoSD LP was more aimed toward people who wanted tips on how to get better.
I think the most interesting thing raocow could do in an official Touhou game video is react to Kogasa or Unzan, but I'm pretty sure it's too late for that anyway.
And really, I'd rather see An Untitled Story over anything else.

Don't LP a Touhou shooter. It takes far too much concentration while playing to do anything but post-commentary on a replay.
How about LPing Super Marisa Land? The level design is a lot calmer than World, but there is still the occasional arghwtf moment, and the physics engine is that of the ORIGINAL Super Mario Bros as opposed to the fairly tame Super Mario World engine or the flighty Super Marisa World engine.

I think the only Touhou game that would make a nice LP is Shoot the Bullet (Touhou 9.5). The format of that game would lend itself to a LP without having to edit too much. Unfortunately, it is also significantly tougher than the other Touhou games.

and dont think playing the touhou game would be really interesting for people to watch, because of the whole talking+dodging thing.
on the other hand, you could do a trial video of 1 run (play until you lose all lives), since theres not an actual midpoint/savestate.

As for Touhou, I don't know how well that'd translate into LP form, since it does require lots of concentration, coming up with random LP banter would be nigh impossible and it wouldn't be too good.
I'd be more interested in seeing you LP MegaMari if you would consider that (after An Untitled Story of course).

I've never played Touhou, but from what I've seen it requires a lot of memorization and focus. You yourself pointed out in this video that you can't really focus on games while talking, so a blind run of Touhou probably wouldn't be easy on video. My fear is that you might become too frustrated with it and we may have a repeat of save stateless Vip.
On the other hand, you should be able to make decisions for yourself about this stuff. If you think you'd have fun playing Touhou, go for it.

Touhou. I vote against lp'ing that. It would probably consist mostly out of demo's and previews of levels and not a whole lot of playing.
Also, Nintedo cast > Touhou cast.

The other thing is though (not trying to gloat or anything) my hack is of RTTC quality I even got a very nice recomendation from SMWC moderator "Ludwig" about having a very good hack, unfortuanlty it was rejected for a few minor problems that have long since been fixed.....but w/e =p

you should keep doing what you are doing. you are to good at romhacks and that sort of thing to do the toho (or whatever) games. you should keep doing good romhacks because videos are more entertaining when the hack is interesting and when you are having fun playing.

I'd love to see you LP Touhou, but it seems like kind of a bad idea. Somehow, I imagine it would take too long, and that you'd become uninterested at one point or another.
On a different note, thanks for introducing me to Warning Forever. It's the only vertical shooter I've ever enjoyed playing.

It'd be hilarious if you LPed the good toohoo games namely 6, 7, 8. They aren't as hard as they look, even on normal. It's because the hitboxes are so damn small.
If you're a "gamer" you can beat the touhou games on normal difficulty, usually.
Don't play on lunatic though. Normal or hard should suffice. Me, Kefit, Rabienroll and probably lots of random dudes could give you tips as well.

You get Phoenix - Infinity because you constantly kill from the front, and you spread your damage around. Try to make a few kills from other sides, and narrow down your spray to kill quickly if you want to go on the 'catastrophe' branch.

I think that you should try just one touhou video, just to see how it goes over. If people like it, keep going with it. If not, don't do any more.

I'm not saying you should do a blind run at all. That would be completely unreasonable. Zelda Classic is based on the engine of the origonal nes Zelda, so it involves a lot of exploration, stupidly designed dungeons, and going around trying to get things to drop bombs.
Im suggesting either an informed LP, or having someone make some sort of hint sheet for you to use if you get stuck. Also, mass amounts of editing and chipmunking.

The only issue with a tohuhou LP is you can't really save in the middle, so every time you want to make another continuation, you would have to re play to get to the certain point. So initially you would have to do it in one take.
If I were to suggest a good SHMUP, I would suggest Ether Vapor. Its a extremley popular SHUMP in the doujin community. Go youtube it quickly it might interest you. I know its a hypocritical thing for me to suggest this considering the content of this video.

1- Typicaly, when someone seems earnest about the quality of their hack, I ask for a short demo video of a typical situation, and I can see from there. If you think you can impress me, hey, give it a shot, but I'm PICKY.
2- I want to say no because of time issues mostly. As some of you know, my lps is almost 100% of my total gaming time, and I just don't think I could do justice as a sort of playtester because of that.
