Carbs run off just a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and an internal diaphragm to determine the amount of fuel needed and drip it into the engine. TB's use engine management with various sensors and injectors to determine the amount of fuel needed and inject it into the engine. It's much more complex than that, but that's the basic idea! Carbs are considerably cheaper but need tuning every so often where as a TB setup is much more expensive but you can set it up and just leave it.
They must be carbs as they have the diaphram covers on the top,so how does the ECU for the original fuel/ign sys cope with not having an inj system anymore?Obviously important for it to work to its ign/fuel map.
IMPRESSED!! Sounds perfect! Did you have to amke the manifold or can you buy them as a tuning part, are those throttle bodies, not carbs? are you using the bike injectors? or are they carbs and you have binned the injection system? Which is a better way to go as the inj sys is set for economy with a little more perf. Does the car use the throttle position sensor on the carbs/bodies?More info would be great as to what you have done, good job though! 10/10 plus a sticky gold star!
looks a cracking job mate. good to see it went well. got my carbs delivered now and just awaiting a custom manifold for them. There going on a 206 GTi which i think everyone can agree... needs more ooomph.
im doing this to my 8v and a mate was interested in doing it to his 16v having seen this vid so thought id ask what ya had done to the jets to make it drive
considering this was the first time it was started i was chuffed with how it ran, couldn't run it for long as the rad wasn't in.. Since then it has all been put back together and been driven, I used the same initial jetting as a couple 0f 8v TU's and it runs and drives fine. Its all off while a bit of paint gets done but should be on the road end of the month.. will get some vids of it going ;)

No point giving it ITBs with a shitty standard manifold, get a 421 on that for more performance! :)

to do this do you have to remove the fuel injection system and the ecu?

I'd imagine it's on stand alone ignition management.

looks like a pretty good setup.
Thinking of doing it to mine
how are you running your ignition timing?
Is it still off the standard ECU, mated with the carbs tps?, or an aftermarket ignition ecu? and also is it on the standard trigger wheel?
And what fuel pump are you using? a solid state facet?
Cheers

hi can you tell me how this ran
was this vid taken after just fitting carbs or did you have them set up and rejetted?
also how did it drive if you had just stuck them on?

Any actuall dynos or known improved throttle response? Effective increase or decrease in mpg.
