Given the recent escalation in gun crime and child shootings in the UK's third city of Manchester, a number of International Embassies are now advising against travel to the city.
Crime statistics show that 1 in 3 visitors to the city become victims of crime during their stay including assault, robbery, rape and murder.

For a detailed, maintained photographic timeline of the Media City : UK (MC:UK) Salford Quays development site next to the Millenium Bridge in this video, do a search on 'media city uk salford quays q3' in Google. Actual visible development started in June and the sixth full sized crane went up today. Judging by the pace of the development and the fact that aspects of the first building (9-10 storeys) are already in place, the pace of construction is quite impressive to complete by 2010/11.
