That looks similar to a "Gopher Snake"! They will shake the tips if their tails in the ground to simulate a Rattlesnake.

In summer, I can see these snakes daily near my home.

I guess they do look a bit like gopher snakes. :) Their closest North American equivalent would be the water snakes, though.
