my demographic is the most at risk in affluent countries such as australia and the US their is no incentive for governments to help us why should they? we can't yet vote for them and we cost money on the healthcare system we have really dropped the ball on mental health world wide
Funny, they didn't mention the statistics of suicide for people with religious beliefs vs atheists. Well, actually not funny at all. Atheists have a significantly higher suicide rate. But that's not PC, so lets not mention it.
@tigerfedor consider and contemplate basically mean the same thing, whether you want to believe that the stat is that high is something else. These numbers are accurate.
@catloverKD in the US 22 young males kill themselves out of every 100,000. thats 1/4545....but your saying the amount that 'seriously' contemplate suicide is 1/3 1/4545 - 1/3......think about that, that stat is not even close to being accurate
Yes. Shocking. People like Kay Jamison get rich writing books about this, but the real tradgedy is The System itself stands by and does nothing about cruelty to so called mentally ill people. Those who dont suicide begin to isolate and become hermits as I have done. Mockery, judging, gossip, slander. My own family has aabandoned me. The rate will most likely rise in my opinion. Have done support groups. I was mocked when I changed.

1 in 3 teenagers has seriously contemplated suicide?....is that to mean 'considered', because 1 in 3 teenagers do not seriously consider suicide

@catloverKD 1/3 refers to all young people not just males. Also keep in mind these numbers are 2 years old at this point.

My grandpa just committed suicide less than a month ago.
I just want to say if you're thinking about committing suicide, don't, because it effects everyone around you and everyone who loves you.
