To me, a hyper coaster does not have to go under the strict definiton of being 200-299 feet tall and such. A hyper to me is really just a coaster with no inversions and lots of airtime.

Nitro at Great Adventure is basically the bigger version of this. And Millennium Force at Cedar Point is basically the bigger version of nitro. My personal favorite roller coasters are currently Kingda Ka and Alpengeist. Batman and Robin: The Chiller was also really really sick, R.I.P.!

MF is built by Intamin, Nitro is built by B&M. These two coasters have no relation :)

yes....apollos chariot is ALOT like nitro, but i think that nitro is definetly better. and there is nothing like el toro in the world.....lol. thats my fav wood coaster....that is THE SHIT. SFGA is better than busch gardens i think, but B.G still has an amazing collection of coasters and more importantly the coasters they do have KICK ASS!!!!

best B&M hyper coaster in existence. have not ridden goliath at six flgs over georgia yet though and diamondback next year. i rode behemoth this year though it was made by god s well as this ride. this ride is god :)

When Chariot was built the drop was built to go further into the ground making it 210 feet. THe actual ride of apollos chariot is only 170 feet tall.

The first drop is almost straight down, so if you can handle Apollo's Chariot, you can handle Griffon. That's pretty much how it was for me.

It was fun, but I like Griffon better. I was so scared the first time I rode Apollo's Chariot because there is no harness over you, just a lapbar. That's what scared me the most.

yea it is just like nitro ive been on both. the only difference is that the first hill on nitro doesnt have that small little drop at the top before the big hill so its 20 feet taller.

It's not too bad really. Just the way you're restrained is pretty scarey. The Big Bad Wolf wiggles your head too much. And even though I'm terrified of heights this was still pretty cool, even though I hated it in a way. xD

and to cherryfrog321, the first drop is very long. but if its your first time and you hold on and do whatever stress exercises necessary, you will be fine.

I don't remember ever seeing Alpengeist or Apollo's Chariot when I went there. That was such a long time ago that they might not have existed. I was like 7 so that would be 11 years ago. The three coasters were Big Bad Wolf, Drachen Fire (no longer exists), and Loch Ness Monster.

stupid. your stomach didnt "drop". the feeling you get in your stomach is called "airtime". the reason why you feel like that going down a hill is because when you drop with gravity down at 9.8 meters per second squared, you become weightless. each part of your body (stomach) are not being held up anymore so you feel a tingle.
