  • this is one of the best posts ive ever seen on youtube!its pure genius and brilliantly done!a great tribute to cole porter

  • It was from memory, for the Cole Porter tribute album RED, HOT AND BLUE.

Done in the 90's for AIDS awareness.

  • That was weird. Not what I would expect from the Pogues. It did improve once Shane hit the stage; but that's not surprising!

  • kirsty failed death hit b a spedboat

  • this gets better with every play

  • Loved this version of the song.Watched this video & what a crackin surprise..!! Long live the magic of Kirsty & carry on forever Shane!

  • A great vid! i love it!

  • I still miss Kirsty so tragic she died so soon,as for Shane He's some thing

  • the pogues behaving themselves. how'd they manage to do that?

  • you can find this on the pogues video collection with summer in siam/streams of whisky/a pair of brown eyes etc

  • This is brilliant !

  • Is this by any chance from Red, Hot and Blue?

  • we all miss Kirsty X

  • W00t your my hero now! :) love it :D

  • wow if you listen to this song when you are tired it's like you are in another world or something xD

  • me and chipo love him

  • perfect

  • What a treasure!

Thanks for sharing this with the world.

  • what a great find !

  • This is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kristy is sadly missed .......... If you're a fan like me remember 10-10-10 Kristy's Birthday . Kirsty MacColl was a much loved English singer and songwriter who was killed by a power boat at the age of 41 whilst scuba diving with her sons in a restricted diving area off Cozumel, México on 18th December 2000.

  • @kurthh1680 Thanks God for Shane. Kirsty put out some really lousy songs when not working with Shane.

  • @Uncle99B You're a feckin wanker!

  • @macpaddy11 . And I care about the postings of a fake effin Paddy

  • Great stuff! RIP, Kirsty!!

  • Brilliant find

  • KIRSTY 1959-FOREVER

  • killer

  • this was on pogue visdion too its not rare ive had it on vhs for decades, try going to a REAL RECORD SHOP instead of downloading and getting music off the web.

  • You keep labeling these vids as RARE and ULTRA RARE, they are readily available to buy.

  • @mrgrinderman1 prey tell where i can this?

  • This was from the Cole Porter compliation album "Red Hot + Blue" - an AIDS benefit project. It featured on the Pogues Best Of Video Collection, which I bought in 1991. I'd really love to find all the other stuff on that album with other artists, including U2.

  • @love69dd that is a great album.David Byrne 'Don't fence me in' iggy pop and Debbie Harry 'What a swell party'.awesome.

  • This ROCKS! Thanks for posting it. I first heard Kirsty on the Pogues album with Fairytale of NY, but shortly after I heard and owned the Red, Hot & Blue record of Cole Porter covers that this song was on, in 989 or 1990 or thereabouts. This is amazing!

  • blooody hell,i knew there was a video for the red hot&blue record

    thanks

  • Fan Fucking Tastic!

  • great song from kirsty and the boys, sadly missed. jo

  • Interesting. I would have enjoyed it better had it REALLY been live and not lip-sinc'ed. :P

  • Shane and Kirsty, one of the best duo's ever! RIP Kirsty, we still miss you

  • love the music and Kirsty. But I hate, hate, hate the fu*king dancing. Blocking the singers! What the f*ck were they thinking. still thanks though, for finding it.

    fu*king dancers........

  • You're missing the point by taking this seriously. Look for clues at the outrageous suits the band are wearing and the silly "melody" boxes they are standing in. Check the weird shape Kirsty makes with the dancers 2:12 to 2:19. This is deliberate and brilliant. Notice the dancers getting violently yanked around at 1:49, and Kirsty's mock-mournful manner with Porter's over-the-top lyrics. This is deep satire, and brilliantly done.

  • And that is just Miss Otis. The second song is too brilliant and superb for me to risk spoiling by commenting on it.

  • geez . . . lighten up or switch to decaf . . . damn

  • Grow up.

  • I'll grow up when you lighten up.

  • Comment removed

  • Kirsty - I miss you.

Shane - Keep it going mate.

  • Wonderful. Thank you!

BTW...Cole Porter was probably the finest songwriter ever. I'll bet even the Gershwins would have agreed with this.

  • I had no idea there were that many amazingly talented people in the whole world.

  • I mean Kirsty and Shane was an amazing pair!

  • Poguevision is a good dvd if you can get hold of it. Dear God, when Shane comes in, its like humanity's musical desires are met there and then.

  • When Shane walks in it's like hell in a suit. It's fucking perfect!

  • ...hell in a suit....perfect. Ha! You got it exactly right.

  • I'm boggled. How did they make something so perfect?

  • Utter Perfection!

  • Shane MacGowan = Perfect.

  • Kirsty MacColl = Respect.

  • Aaaaaaaaaaahooooooooh!!!!!

  • Wow! This is like somebody's Technicolor Hangover Dream...I wish I could have Shane and Kirsty singing soundtrack to my dreams.

  • Hmmm ... the first song ... on which CD can I find it? It's really moving.

  • Agreed cruelintone, Miss Otis regrets is Cole Porter, prob Ella Fitzgerald cd you`ll find it. But the wonderfull Kirsty and Pogues version is worth tracking down. Evocative and moving. (terrible end to this video)

  • Why is it a terrible end? I'm sorry, I see only a supernatural perfection.

  • It's on Red Hot+Blue a Tribute to Cole Porter DVD & CD

  • Hmmm ... this is the version

  • Brilliant, thanks for that. Had it on VHS years ago, must get it on dvd. Sound!!

  • rest in peace Kirsty, a true talent xx

  • I still can't believe she's gone :(

  • Lolz, Shane seems to be looking amazed like 'wth are all these bright coloured people doing here dancing in my face..?!'

  • LOL when Shane start singing. One of my favourite music videos.

  • Where the devil did you find this man?

  • Found it somewhere on .torrent file, on The Pirate Bay I think.

I was so happy when I found it.

  • It is "It's" not "Its's"

    It's an amazing video.

Excuse my mistake. Corrections are made ! ;)

  • This is from the Red Hot + Blue special on ABC from 1990. I was 8 when it came out, and my Dad taped it off television. For years I would watch the tape, and this was my favorite song by far (before I even knew who the Pogues were!). Now they've released it on DVD and I finally can see it again after all these years. The internet just keeps getting better and better...
