  • BTBBUILDER..... You must have way too much time on your hands to complain about instructors in a stickhandling tutorial not wearing helmets.

  • @PuckYou418

All ice hockey coaches and instructors of registered USA Hockey Youth/High School, Disabled, Girls/Womens 19 & Under and below programs must properly wear an ice hockey helmet during all on-ice sessions, including practices, controlled scrimmages and coach and referee clinics (seminars).

  • @PuckYou418

    Actually,

I do not have that much time on my hands what with Coaching High School Hockey and Squirts AA, along with a wife, 4 kids and a business to run. It just makes sense for people who have a brain to try to keep it intact, let alone the fact that we are teaching Children and Teens how to play a Very Physical game where there are potentials for deadly consequences. I suppose that this is over your head so I digress.

  • @btbbuilder

It's an instructional video, I understand what you mean completely, but kids aren't allowed on the ice without a helmet, not wearing a helmet in the video won't harm anyone.

  • @Brereton111

    I

f its ok by you, I completely disagree. Weare coaches and instructors. We have a responsibliity not only to the Kids and Teens we coach, but it is also part of our agreement with USA Hockey that we wear helmets while on the ice be it Coaching or Instructing.

  • @btbbuilder

Well I'm from Canada, it was only a rule like a year ago that our coaches have to wear helmets.

    We've never had any problems

  • @Brereton111

I'd Say this was a problem:

After suffering severe head trauma at a hockey practice, Alberta minor hockey coach Ron Ebbesen died at Calgary's Foothills Hospital on Tuesday.

  • @Brereton111

Really your only arguement is alberta is accident prone. Ok whatever this is just plain silly,Dont wear a helmet Thats your choice and when somebody else dies congrats you can then again defend your position ad absurdum ad infinitum

  • @btbbuilder

    You're thick.

    I'm not making an argument.

You're trying to say that he should be wearing a helmet.

This isn't a coach on the ice with his team it is an instructional video. There is no danger of him being hit in the face with the puck or anything really.

You're comparing an instructional video to an actual situation.

  • @Brereton111

I agree I am thick and I will forever disagree, Yes there is no danger of a puck but there is of blunt force trauma do to a freak accident. my guess is if you asked that coaches family they would agree with me. Mind you he was a AAA Coach and Very Experienced skater who merely stepped on the ice and went backward.

This debate is settled, Lets let it lay where it is. Both Countries Disagree with you

  • @btbbuilder

    Im not disagreeing with you.

I agree 100% that coaches should wear helmets. I never said it was a stupid Idea.

I was just saying that this guy not wearing a helmet won't influence kids to not wear a helmet. If you play hockey you know the rules and you know why they are there.

  • @Brereton111

Please tell me this ends our debate:

Minor hockey coach dies after fall at practice

By Lindsey Craig on October 23, 2008 9:53 PM

After suffering severe head trauma at a hockey practice, Alberta minor hockey coach Ron Ebbesen died at Calgary's Foothills Hospital on Tuesday.Ebbesen fell and hit the back of his head on the ice during an Oct. 7 practice with his Strathmore midget AAA team.Ebbesen's family has not yet announced funeral arrangements.

  • @btbbuilder

Not really Alberta is accident prone.

The fact is that this is a video, not a practice with kids.

  • @Brereton111

Ok, ok.. I give. Obviously I proved my point, Obviously Canada Hockey has passed their own set of rules including fines and suspensions Country Wide in the Sport. Obviously USA hockey reinforced their rules also. Obviously the Videos target not only adult hockey players but youth hockey players in development . I can only say that any logical sane rational thinking person should do what is in the best interest of their audience for the sake of safety.

  • @Brereton111

Coaches and Players are not allowed on the ice in both Countries Period. It sets a bad example for both. I am also Director of Youth Hockey in our home Town and EVERY Coach knows not to step on the rink without a Helmet and Gloves on (Gloves my rule) The Rink Owner actually appreciated that I enforce this rule. he has liability issues to deal with. My guess is if you ask the rink the Video was posted at they would say in Hind site they would want the coaches to wear their helmets

  • I like the video, but I really think that responsible coaching should incorporate safety. I think all these should done with helmets on. I heard a top coach in Canada Died last year from a simple trip.

  • @btbbuilder your a pussy go play soccer, your the reason why OHL fights are gay now

  • @Dperk94 ya it's not like the brain is important or anything

  • @btbbuilder

Canada AWESOME My Grandpa was from Regina.

It was just over a year ago that the Canadian College Coach Stepped on the rink and slipped backward hitting his head on the ice in a freak acciden(DIED)t. It was just after that we were informed that they would be reinforcing the helmet rule for USA Hockey Coaches. It only makes sense,

  • nice video----@ cdngulfa i agree 100%

  • Great Video!

  • Fantastic drills - every hockey team should incorporate 5 mins of the Savard drill into every practice.

  • thats sik!

  • i just wanted to say hi
