I remember this it was on the warmup nitebefore the 2 days started a few bands played, but it was kings x who fuckin slated the crowd the played a nice mix but did a lot of dogmas songs which is a good thing great album
Dug Pinnick. Very underated. I only hope that I could get that kind of tone from a bass. Hamer eh? Neck looks long. But I guess the PA system and acoustics blasting across the open area produced that Killa tone. ManOMan

@SuperRugby2010 people didnt mash to hendrix because they couldnt believe their eyes that a black dude was getting down like that... plus the acid was farrrrrrrrrrr out
it still shocks me this band never got huge , especially with PEARL JAM pushing for them after they themselves hit it big. I have seen them play in front of crowds ranging from 200-1500 and they always put out 150% and go for minimum 2.15 hours. freakin fantastic...

This band sucks and I dont know why Mtv tried so hard to push this band on us. However they did do a good cover of this song but their music never was good.
The idea that MTV broadcast concerts at all much less one with King's X back in the day is fairly shocking if you've watched 5 seconds of that channel in the last 10 years.
@rmarcontell They did their Ear Candy tour opening for the Crue. They did a show here in the Milwaukee area, and I heard it was awesome. I wasn't there, but I met someone who was. When KX left, over half the crowd left with them. Now THAT is fan dedication.
@rmarcontell From what I can gather, a lot of that had to do with Sam Taylor, who pretty much ran them with an iron fist. When they fired Taylor and brought in producers like Brendan O'Brien, that's when things changed. I'm glad they are still around. They beat the shit out of a lot of the crap you hear on the radio these days.
@rmarcontell When they first started out, they were a pseudo Christian band. KX is so hard to describe...gospel, Queen, Rush, the Beatles, metal, Cream...how many other influences did they have? I don't care where their music came from, they still rock and are one of the most underrated bands in history. Period. End of discussion.

Maybe so, but I do know music, and Tool never did anything progressive. They suck. It's progressive music for fourteen year olds. Anyone who actually knows something about music knows it's amature playing.
ok sunderlanding, you know music? me too! me too! really i swear! what is "progressive" to you? because to me, prog rock (which i love) is about building, and creating feelings and telling a story through the music alone. sometimes it means complex riffing, odd times and rapid fire changes. other times it means repetition (often with layers) that induces a hypnotic effect. i mean, MOST progressive rock (old and new) is repetitious. your accusations are unfounded and you need to shut up.
I don't care what "prog rock" is. You can call the music whatever you want I'm not arguing against the tittle. I'm just saying it isn't actually progressive. It's all shit that's been done before.
i completely agree with this. to me bands that call themselves prog rock basically are just saying to me that there is a bigger focus on the music, conceptual ideas, and that there is no real style they want to adhere to outside of "prog rock". pretty much anything that 's called "progressive" today is just a mixture of two or more styles/bands that already exist. i'm not saying there weren't progressive rock bands or that there can't still be, but for now i don't know of any new ones.
They're allways in the key of D because they tune down. All their riffs involve open string pull offs or hammer ons. Exclusivly in minor keys mostly phrygian, and a total lack of chords. They only thing they do that's progressive is use odd times, and they aren't even very good at it.
go Ty go !.....a very underated player in an underated band....maybe the prejudice and racism from the public prevented these guys from getting as big as they deserved to be.
King's X .. what a band. And what a band they continue to be. They're new stuff is always current and inventive sounding. Not bad at all for a bunch of dudes in their 50's these days. And YES this is the best rendition of this song anyone has ever done. Doug sounds very similar to Jimmy and a nice tight sounding 3 piece always is the perfect sound.
These guys have been working and waiting since the 80's for their "breakthrough" album; it just never came. they need a big album a la "American Idiot" for Green Day.
I'm always amazed at how these three guy can make that much noise. That stage is huge for only a trio, but they fill it with their music. Fucking brilliant!

I thought it was just me who thought they are way to good and too underrated. Like they're invisible. I guess they broke big early 90's. I wasn't paying attention to music than, but they get little to no TV, Radio or MTV play. Not till the 2000's did I first hear'em & go WOW! They blow away current bands and hold their own with classics, The Who, Sabbath, Zeppelin... It's not too heavy, it groves, has the blues and soul of really great rock. Yet on late night TV, SNL they never get a slot?
King's X is the greatest live band I've ever witnessed. Hold on i had to stop and watch that guy standing on peoples hands. hahaha.

I can't possibly comprehend what you mean by a good drummer then. He is more solid that most drummers today and never misses with doug on bass. What exactly do you want? You sir, are not a musician.
Great drummer! I saw King's X at the Palace in '98 Truly one of the three most outstanding sounding bands I have ever seen! They were at the top of their game on the Tape Head tour. They write some of the best rock tunes ever!

If you're going to play a cover of a song- this is how to do it right... staying true to the original- as much as possible.
Not these cheezy remakes the targets and other corps want to sell in their tv commercials today with overly programmed electronics.
