  • 2:24-2:27 haha there smiling these guys always have fun on stage and Dug Pinnick is like the most approachable person ever

  • I remember this it was on the warmup nitebefore the 2 days started a few bands played, but it was kings x who fuckin slated the crowd the played a nice mix but did a lot of dogmas songs which is a good thing great album

  • Oh yeah! Finally Hendrix is back! He is with us again!

  • This cover just rips the stage apart. Just plain filthy. Untouchable, because they are that good.

  • PEAZO DE COVER !!!

  • From what I understand, bands and artists had to put in bids for spots for this event.. Kings X was asked by the powers that be, to come and play..

and stole the show.. Kings X is one of the best rock bands.. Ever!!!

  • Pinnock's voice sounds like Hendrix.

  • Ty looks allot like Eddie Vedder in this vid.

  • Manic Depression........CAPTURED MY SOUL!

  • Dug Pinnick. Very underated. I only hope that I could get that kind of tone from a bass. Hamer eh? Neck looks long. But I guess the PA system and acoustics blasting across the open area produced that Killa tone. ManOMan

  • Ty RIPS this one.... Every guy in this band is hugely underrated. THE COJONES required to play Manic Depression AT the Memorial Woodstock!!!!!! And they're having fun doing it.

  • I'm a Hendrix Fan till death and this is Awsome!!!!

  • these guys don't rock the house they tear it down

  • this is the perfect example of people just wanting to rock out and have a good time. Kings X brought the pain that night! My all time favorite band of ALL TIME!

  • 90 60 whatever this is how it's done!

  • We are ALL approching 60 fer crissake! Some are close than others.

  • I thought Doug is 70. So what?

  • I got your fuckin bass right here baby!!

  • moshing to hendrix!? What? Did you guys see that going on! I guess kids get into music in different ways. I think more of hippie free dancing with this music.

  • @SuperRugby2010 people didnt mash to hendrix because they couldnt believe their eyes that a black dude was getting down like that... plus the acid was farrrrrrrrrrr out

  • What an amazing band!

Someone knows where Can I find the video for Over my head in woodstock?

  • i'll categorize the music once: thank god for real hard rock.

  • why has'nt someone thought about having him play hendrix in a film about jimi?

  • @lovintonal Doug Pinnick is approaching 60. He's a little too old for that role.

  • did you hear that bass tone?

  • Dug or whatever should get the hair he had then now.w

  • If you're going to play a cover of a song- this is how to do it right... staying true to the original- as much as possible.

Not these cheezy remakes the targets and other corps want to sell in their tv commercials today with overly programmed electronics.

  • It's actually a very nice cover. The guitarist blew it it on the solo-ing part, but this was so good, I would call that a minor complaint.

  • Holy crap.

    \m/ \m/

  • \m/ \m/

  • it still shocks me this band never got huge , especially with PEARL JAM pushing for them after they themselves hit it big. I have seen them play in front of crowds ranging from 200-1500 and they always put out 150% and go for minimum 2.15 hours. freakin fantastic...

  • I just love how their sound can be so clear and bass-heavy at the same time. This is a phenomenal cover.

  • i wish the albums weren't so hard to find in stores . i got one but i NEED more lol

  • rasta mullet ROCKS!!!!

  • Kudos to Dug for trying to to hold it together when his strap was falling off!!!

  • They are christian.

  • @vinylman1970

they were christian, i talked to Doug Pinick a week ago at a concert and he clarified me on that..

  • No other band could have covered this.

  • The idea that MTV broadcast concerts at all much less one with King's X back in the day is fairly shocking if you've watched 5 seconds of that channel in the last 10 years.

  • @FirstAmongNerds Does MTV do anything anymore that isn't a reality show?

  • @FirstAmongNerds You're right: MTV = Manure Tubie Vision

  • make some nooooisee jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @rmarcontell They did their Ear Candy tour opening for the Crue. They did a show here in the Milwaukee area, and I heard it was awesome. I wasn't there, but I met someone who was. When KX left, over half the crowd left with them. Now THAT is fan dedication.

  • @rmarcontell From what I can gather, a lot of that had to do with Sam Taylor, who pretty much ran them with an iron fist. When they fired Taylor and brought in producers like Brendan O'Brien, that's when things changed. I'm glad they are still around. They beat the shit out of a lot of the crap you hear on the radio these days.

  • @rmarcontell When they first started out, they were a pseudo Christian band. KX is so hard to describe...gospel, Queen, Rush, the Beatles, metal, Cream...how many other influences did they have? I don't care where their music came from, they still rock and are one of the most underrated bands in history. Period. End of discussion.

  • Dug sounds a lot like hendrix

  • oh man that was a rush.thanks.what a groooooooove.

  • These arguments are so STUPID. Just listen to this amazing music, love it, and don't try to categorize it.

  • Favorite band of alltime..Cannot fuck with Ty's tone!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man, these guys are amazing! They are criminally overlooked by most music fans, spread the word people!

  • You said it bro!!!!

  • Oh, for some reason I thought you were referring to King's X. My apologies.

  • ok sunderlanding, you know music? me too! me too! really i swear! what is "progressive" to you? because to me, prog rock (which i love) is about building, and creating feelings and telling a story through the music alone. sometimes it means complex riffing, odd times and rapid fire changes. other times it means repetition (often with layers) that induces a hypnotic effect. i mean, MOST progressive rock (old and new) is repetitious. your accusations are unfounded and you need to shut up.

  • I don't care what "prog rock" is. You can call the music whatever you want I'm not arguing against the tittle. I'm just saying it isn't actually progressive. It's all shit that's been done before.

  • i completely agree with this. to me bands that call themselves prog rock basically are just saying to me that there is a bigger focus on the music, conceptual ideas, and that there is no real style they want to adhere to outside of "prog rock". pretty much anything that 's called "progressive" today is just a mixture of two or more styles/bands that already exist. i'm not saying there weren't progressive rock bands or that there can't still be, but for now i don't know of any new ones.

    peace

  • Mastodon is pretty cool. They're actually musically progressive, as apposed to just putting the word in the name of the genre.

  • screw progressive music, regressive music is da best! XD

  • not as amateur as your spelling..

  • Comment removed

  • this is the reason why people should listen 2 PROGRESSIVE METAL!!!!!! ALSO TOOL IS THE REASON 2!!!!!!!!

  • Tool sucks.

  • 2 u but no

  • Well they cetainly aren't progressive. They allways play the same thing.

  • Not really they are progressive. They do play different stuff.

  • They're allways in the key of D because they tune down. All their riffs involve open string pull offs or hammer ons. Exclusivly in minor keys mostly phrygian, and a total lack of chords. They only thing they do that's progressive is use odd times, and they aren't even very good at it.

  • Goose Bumps allover, while watching and listening to this GREAT COVER.

    Man, how I love King's X

  • The best. They are the best.

  • great guitar work!

  • It is a brilliant cover. King's X Rules.

  • Huge inspiration for us. Great cover of a great song by an even better band!

Dogman, the CD this appeared on, is one of my favorite albums of all time. Period.

    Long live dUg, Ty & Jerry - King's X!

  • i am bipolar and i agree with jimi.

  • ty's fretting hand ,and facial expressions often remind me of John Petrucci...

    both my heroes!

  • Attention Kids ... This is how to ROCK!

  • go Ty go !.....a very underated player in an underated band....maybe the prejudice and racism from the public prevented these guys from getting as big as they deserved to be.

  • Jimi baby would dig this

  • King's X .. what a band. And what a band they continue to be. They're new stuff is always current and inventive sounding. Not bad at all for a bunch of dudes in their 50's these days. And YES this is the best rendition of this song anyone has ever done. Doug sounds very similar to Jimmy and a nice tight sounding 3 piece always is the perfect sound.

  • These guys have been working and waiting since the 80's for their "breakthrough" album; it just never came. they need a big album a la "American Idiot" for Green Day.

  • That album sucked. Green Day hasn't been good since "Dookie".

  • Green Day hasn't been good from the start. At least as good as the media made them.

  • different from the days of "the Winecellar"ainnit fella's???

  • I'm always amazed at how these three guy can make that much noise. That stage is huge for only a trio, but they fill it with their music. Fucking brilliant!

  • holy shit he fucking covered that sooo fuckin good....omg no one covers jimi hendrix that well.....

  • this is fucking awesome

  • groovy video.

  • O_o You're right! lol Doesnt even look like a girl.. XD 3

  • Great Cover! But Miss During The Solo. Listen To Jimi's solo, It's Utter Fucking Chaos That Blows me away Evertime I Hear it!

  • ???

  • I was being facetious.

  • you were and still are being a wanker

  • jimmy who?

  • King's X broke big in the 80's, I first saw them in 83. They're the greatest band never to be huge. Check out their catalog and you'll scratch your head and wonder why as well.

  • Just three words...

    O

    M

    G!

  • Just saw Kings X last night in St petersburg fl. they were fantastic. the room was way to small but what a show..

  • Hey! I've just read through the thread. I've been a King's X admirer since the 80's and King. Did any of you know that King's X was voted one of the most underrated bands of all time by fellow rock musicians? Is there any better recognition than that of your peers?

  • Getting paid is pretty good recognition too. Or so I hear.

  • I thought it was just me who thought they are way to good and too underrated. Like they're invisible. I guess they broke big early 90's. I wasn't paying attention to music than, but they get little to no TV, Radio or MTV play. Not till the 2000's did I first hear'em & go WOW! They blow away current bands and hold their own with classics, The Who, Sabbath, Zeppelin... It's not too heavy, it groves, has the blues and soul of really great rock. Yet on late night TV, SNL they never get a slot?

  • King's X is the greatest live band I've ever witnessed. Hold on i had to stop and watch that guy standing on peoples hands. hahaha.

Like I was saying they kick ass live. each time I leave a show of theirs I feel like I went to church, met god, and got punch drunk off the wine. hahaha. Self help without the new age and inspirational without the "cheese is nice."

  • incredible

  • King's X not only stole the show, but were probably the most musically talented band at WC 94.

  • God bless King's X. Watch Dug starting at about 3:06 lose his strap and still keep rockin'!

  • Oh yeah. I play bass, and I can't see myself putting the bass that low like he and Krist from Nirvana did

  • They're a little slow.

  • They should do an all-Hendrix cover album. I'm sure they wouldn't want to, but it would be awesome nonetheless.

  • ladies and gentleman, the official winner of the unofficial battle of the bands.

  • Ty Tabor one of the underated Guitarist of all time!!!!!!!

  • You did good Brian! This is an awesome video, and definately brings back that aura!

  • Normally I am the first to say something sucks, but this was really good, except for the crappy drummer.

  • The drummer fucking rules dude. Are you deaf?? FKX-KXF

  • No, not at all. He can at least keep a beat, but by no means is he a good drummer.

  • You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • I can't possibly comprehend what you mean by a good drummer then. He is more solid that most drummers today and never misses with doug on bass. What exactly do you want? You sir, are not a musician.

  • are you a dumbass? listen to other King's X things and tell me he's not a good drummer.

  • Great drummer! I saw King's X at the Palace in '98 Truly one of the three most outstanding sounding bands I have ever seen! They were at the top of their game on the Tape Head tour. They write some of the best rock tunes ever!

  • The drummer is great. Just because he doesn't do ridiculous Mike Portnoy tom rolls every 5 seconds doesn't mean he sucks.

  • He's playing a cover of an old Hendrix song...what are you expecting him to do? Listen to more of their stuff and you'll realize he's a very talented drummer.

  • pause at 3:40

  • pretty good cover.I love Black Flag.

  • This is one hell of great cover.

  • woodstock 94 was the shit

  • Thanks for posting this one! They are power trio #1, on this planet anyway...

  • Wonderful cover by an awesome band!

  • bella cover!!

  • Fantastic! Thanks for posting this! Awesome quality too! 5 stars my friend!

  • Great cover by a very underrated band

  • When the M in MTV stood for Music, unlike today. King's X Rules, the best live band you will ever experience.

  • They should've been huge after Woodstock '94.

  • This is one of the most creative bands out there, and their energy is utterly fantastic! Thanks for this video!

  • Fucking Awesome

  • THERE YA GO..........STUNNIN ........IS DA WURD HERE...!!!!
