some cephalopods do use bioluminescence in their camouflage, though. don't know about this octopus, but certain kinds of squid have bioluminescent patches under their eyes to cancel out their shadow. nifty!
One example would be a firefly squid, with bioluminescent photophores all over its body, and so counter shading it when it is in the twilight zone, a method also used by the deep sea hatchetfish
I actually got to see this at a National Youth Leadership Conference on Technology, and I believe it was presented by Dr. Hanlon or one of his colleagues. Very cool though, I'm amazed at the possibilities of bioluminescence.
