i have windows xp pro and when it formats, it says to remove any floppys and press any key to restart and the setup doesn't work. Does anyone know why it does that? It's working for everyone else.

@77guacamole check the BIOS config. under the boot scedule make sure floppy is 3rd and hard drive is first

did you use an upgrade disk or full? If i want to do a clean reinstall of 98, do i need a full disk or upgrade? I tried it and i think i was using a full disk and it told me that i needed the "upgrade" version????any help?

Reboot and press F1 to go into BIOS setup

Slide to Boot menu

Select Primary boot as CD ROM

put Windows CD ROM in tray

reboot

select "Boot from CD ROM"

or else D:/ setup

Once you finish installing, be sure to go back into F1 again and change Primary Boot back to Floppy Disk

There is only one problem with what your saying well actually two , one what if I the cd is not made bootable, two what if I install dos on a blank NEW HDD? See it's no that simple now to just change the boot priority and or in DOS type D:/ setup. The reason it's not that easy is because WIN98 was not intended to be bootable like XP, vista etc. and even if you had dos what were the chances you had config.sys and autoexec.bat configured right to allow the use of a cdrom.

ive got a problem,when i start virtual box, every goes fine but right after the selection part which you decide where if you want cd rom support it does the text thing then it goes to this thing at the bottom: A:/>_ i figured out you can type in something but i dont know what to type in so could you tell me what to type in there so i can continue? reply quick please

If you have a bootable cd, it should work without problems. If you see the cdrom drive blinks, it means that its trying to boot, but maybe the cd is not bootable?
