Eh its ok but some of the basics could really be improved for someone thats capable of competing in DCI IE. The flams moving around the drum in the beginning are kinda bad, and singles at :40-:50 sound like double stops at points. A bit too much rim for being at the competition. I mean its not bad but not 2nd place.

honestly, it was a really well done solo that featured many stick flips and tosses, but it got second because it contained a lot of basic cross-over diddles and scatters, which everyone already does. also, he played on the same drum for a little bit too long a couple times.

If you play long enough, this happens to everyone. If it hasn't happened yet, just keep playing. And yes, that's why you have a back up. The best thing was notice his recovery - it's kinda like the general 2 count rule you have for marching band forms.
