  • excellent!!! so simple...........

  • Simon, is there a difference between rolling a rim or just

leaving a thick rim. Is the rolled rim stronger?

  • Simon, The best part of being invololved with pottery are the great people like you that share eveything they know with the rest of us. I love your videos Simon. Thank you so much

  • I'm heading out to the studio and I'm going to give this pot a try! Wish me luck!

  • Simon, you are not only a master potter, but a master teacher! Thank you.

  • I've never seen that before!

  • I love it!

  • What a great video! Like it lots will give it a go definately, thanks! : )

  • Looks like it is a bit warm down your way too?

Am I totally off base, or could I use a knife on the inside to cut instead of that wire-technique you use? I am certain I would miss and have to cut 3-5 times before I got that wire in the right place - but a knife at an angle strikes me as working as well?

  • the wire is better for sure as its fine , but a knife , well ?! what can i say try it if you feel more confident with it. SL

  • Great demo, Simon. I read about this technique, but couldn't picture how it was done. Now I know.

    Thanks.

  • ANOTHER thing I've never seen. LOL! Thanks Simon.

  • I've seen a couple of methods for "ovaling" a round dish, but they all involved working when the clay was almost leatherhard. This resulted in frequent cracking along the join. Your way is similar but would reduce that risk, I think. Thank you.

  • Thanks Again Simon!

Great Method. I will try it at class.

    Keep on inspiring us.

  • Simon - I love it, very simple and practical. I have never seen it done that way. I am going to try that right now. - Skip

  • Awesome as usual.

  • I like your method very much!

I have made several of these by cutting out a wedge in the inside, with a needle tool or Xacto knife, either on the sides like yours or a small marquee shape out of the center. They are ok but don't seem as sturdy as yours Simon. I am going to try this

wire method it seems very quick a simpler.

    Thank you very much!

  • Very nice, I like it. That would make a nice baking dish done larger as well!

  • Another one I was waiting for!
