Shadow Priests are Shao Kahn's elite and most loyal soilders. They supposed to be even more powerful than Shang Tsung in magic and yes that's why they're in the background
Goro murders Kung Lao, Shadow Priests are extremely deadly. Best fighters in MK mythology, they're not even close to human. That's why in the games they're always just in the background, they don't have anything to prove.
It is ilogical because The Evil Won the hole thing ,and thus we know that Kung lao is descendent of Liu Kang so if Khan won that war..there will be no

the shadow priests were an important army of shao khan and had the power to fight even from the begining with earth warriors,they could destroy all of them anyway, except Rayden the thunder god,so the hole movie is useless at the end..not the evil but the power of good should have won!
Rayden is much better then Sho Khan and the idea that Khan fooled Rayden is simply to credited to Khan in stead of Rayden,so i enjoyed the movie but not the end of it,It is really stupid and false
I think Shang Tsung put up the best fight. At least he got to pull out one of his tricks. His mistake was in holding the 'soul stealing' too long, or assuming the priest couldn't counter it. Quan Chi went down like a wuss. He didn't do any sorcery or anything; he just took a few kicks and then got himself stuck in a rock. Vorpax didn't even do anything but scream, if I recall.
Yes, I agree Shang did the best. I don't think Shang really made a mistake. I think he knew he was losing and he couldn't beat the priest in a fight so he tried to finish it even though it wasn't enough. As for Quan Chi, the reason he got stuck in a rock is according to an episode before this one he admits to not being able to fight in the Cobalt Mines where Shang was prisoner and that his powers didn't work. When he got stuck in the rock, you can hear him mutter, "Cobalt." Quan Chi was a pussy.
i disagree , Reptile also was enduring in a good fight with a shadow priest even that he lost,reptile managed to beat shang tsung in a fight when that useless vortpax "saved tsung"

shang may have fled from the fight with reptile but he had also incapacitated him and reptile was down long enough for him to flee and siro and taja to take aim at reptile.
