actually Vista is a good OS it was really device driver manufacturers fualt that there were some many issues so the blame goes to the lazy ass driver manufacturers and ignorant users who follow the word of other equally ignorant people
now that the drivers for vista are out there (becuase bill "talked" with the driver manufacturers) it really comes down to users to understand that they need to update there drivers so there hardware and software will work correctly together
The people who used Mojave used it on a 7000 dollar laptop, and never got to use the applications that they may need to use for there job or such, and they didn't even connect any external devices to it. Not only that, but they probably didn't do anything too heavy on it ether. The people surveyed didn't even look like they owned a computer. Man I wish I could have been part of that experiment, and I would have ran winver and found out it was Vista. Id rub their nose in it.

that pc video looks so fake - they just found some actors to say vista is a 10. All operating systems have their flaws. I've used vista and it's awful - difficult to use annoying mesages keep coming up and you don't get that with snow leopard.
umm, wha? last virus on mac that I personally experienced was in 1996, which was called the autostart virus. It was discovered pretty fast, and an antivirus app was cooked up within weeks, called "earlybird".
The thing that people don't seem to quite get is that with UNIX, the system of permissions and processes, it's a fortress. You could get in with patience, social engineering and a lot of skill, but you won't have wildfire viral spread.

The only reason why people say Mac is better than a PC is because they are ignorant. The reason why Macs do not get viruses is because no one makes viruses for Macs. The reason being is because why would a person make viruses for the minority. Macs control less than 5% of all computers while the 94% is run by Microsoft. what about that 1%? well you have Linux and other OSs. Another thing is when a Mac does get a virus, how do you fix it? You cant, you have to by a new Mac. PCs are easy to fix.
Mac is BSD UNIX. As used by banks & the military. If any nasty trojan or malware is gonna start touching files which belong to other apps or the system, you have to log that app in with an admin password.
There's plenty of security apps for mac. Fact remains that high security is built into the OS from the ground up. BSD has been heavily wargamed.
There are doubtless a few chinks in OSX's armour, but nothing like the horrors of XP, where a webpage can kill you dead etc.

i have tried vista myself and leopard an i think vista is XP but only with an appearance change. it still has the same problems as 98 but it looks and is organized different. and OS X has new features and fixes every OS or update.

as of now im using my dell 1.8 ghz (single core) 1 gig of ram and its not the faster computer in the world but it works fine. cant wait till i finish my new one. 2.6 ghz overclocked to 3ghz(dual core) 4 gigs of ram 1tb hdd and prob xp lol

Mac's are easy to use out of the box. Older people like them because they they're great at surfing the web, making movies, writing docs when you buy them.
PC's on the other hand are better for people who like creating/customizing/modding their computers. My PC plays games super fast because I built it from the ground up and overclocked the graphics cards.
My PC can do anything a mac can do, and do it faster, all for under $1,500. Vista really isn't that bad either.

I own both PC's and Mac's. Depends on what I am using them for. Right now if I am gaming or working in 3d I will use the pc hands down. If I need to do video editing I will use the mac in a second hands down. Untill mac's come down in prices, support alot more games, and my 3d software packages, I will be sticking to the pc for a majority of my work, but so far I have gotten into linux again and I am very pleased with it due to the whine project. I do like vista though, but I also like leopard.

Apple has better marketing, they both play on ignorance to what "pc" actually mean. I spent my WHOLE life using PC until I went to college in 2003 (Art College) and all they use are Mac's as far as design goes, and I hated it because the functions were confusing...Then I bought a PowerBook G4 and realized I was only confused because I was used to taking the long complicated PC route when the Mac functions are as nice and simple as the word implies...I WILL NEVER TOUCH A PC AGAIN!!! MAC FOREVER!!!
I have used both, and was very anti Mac before I did. Now that I have used both, Mac wins hands down. It works. Period. Having done countless video and audio projects, Macs wins hands down. I even used the same program for video editing on both PC and Mac, the mac was a joy to use. PC's are not bad, I still use one, but I will always prefer a Mac until windows gets it act togeather.

The Microsoft campaign is better. The "Get a Mac" adverts are funny, ok, but not really true. Example: Vista is providing a shadow copy function to, this is no special benefit of apple. Apple does not show what their OS really can, only what Vista can't. Microsoft shows us, that Vista's image is not as good as the program really is. Plus: my printer works fine with Vista ;)

im with you man cause ive experienced vista and i had 8 blue screens of death, and a bunch of freezes and crashes, i only used a mac for a little bit but i personally think its better.
id have to say im on the vista side only for the fact that i dont like how mac kinda limits everything u do from most of my music options since thats all i use it for and youtube (obviously) but people say Mac is safer but its only true cuz it limits u to do anything from messing it up and while vista you can tweek and everything but with all this freedom ur bound to fuck it all up. which ive done... many times but id take the freedom with the pain in the ass mess ups lol
It's a mixed bad of pros and cons between the two. I have never used a Mac before, though I hear good things, and I have had plenty of experience with Vista, and I thoroughly enjoy it. All the crashes on my computer come from faults of my own, not Vista's. From what I understand Mac is a workplace/general use OS, While Vista is general/gaming. Seriously, only a handful of games come out for Mac. I say go with Vista...of course there is always the spectacle that is LINUX. I use Linux and Vista :)
Go to your nearest apple shop and grab a mac and use it a few minutes. it'll be just like vista, except less transparent (and faster, especially on lower-mem systems). The only big problem with macs that I have is actually the UI. Its ok for creative stuff, like garageband and imovie, but not really that great for work (mac os 9 has a better UI for that). Id say that Mac OS X is a creative/general use OS, while vista is a work/general/waste your memory OS, and XP is a work/gaming OS.
You must also remember that Mac OS X has most of the features that Vista has, like expose, dashboard, spaces, front row, you get the idea (all but the transparency. but who wants that anyways?).
Vista has gone mainstream, which means hackers will always be looking for loop holes, Just like how Norton was, at first it was good, now its in the shit hole. Its great for anyone mostly, but if you were to get it i'd recommend getting a backup anti-virus and spyware. I currently have three on my machine, so far nothings gotten through yet.
I'd say that Vista is better for people whom know how to use a computer, unlike Macs, which are made for people who would usually start using computer. Vista has most of the functions of XP so you just basically have a few new adjustments, Its usually slow for machines that aren't powerful enough to use Vista. Its very rewarding if you get a good machine, It also makes it easier to customize your computer. On the downside I'd say the anti-virus and spyware isn't the best because

The Mojave Experiment is a pile of crap. I hardly call an hour of marketing a product to someone and seeing their reaction "letting them decide for them self." If you want to let your customers see what Vista is really like give them a week of it on their own computer. Only then they will realize that they were right in the first place in saying, Vista is crap.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I think you may have misinterpreted my post. I'm talking about how the Mojave commercials are misleading; nothing about which platform has the most freedom.
But while we are on that point, don't forget that while Macs have hardware restrictions, they only make the OS that much better because it's specialized. Also, OS X, unlike Vista, has full software freedom. I can run any piece of software you give me on a Mac, including Vista.

you guys do realize that the two computers that were used during the mojave experiment were year old dv2000 2 gig rams that were owned by the people using the experiment
So, the people taking the experiment said that Mojave felt faster even though it was the same exact computer? And the people conducting the experiment told them to do only certain things that were likely preloaded in the RAM; on their own computer?

Still, the whole thing is rigged. The computers likely have better tech specs than any Vista computer they've owned, the people conducting the experiment only allow the test takers to do certain, 'already loaded in RAM' things, and there is even software put on the computer that doesn't come bundled with Vista. That paints a good picture, but not of Vista.
Coming to think of it... it does raise my curiosity a bit.
The main flaw with the 'Mojave Experiment' is that Vista, though Microsoft likes to think, is not in the same position as Apple is. Everyone I know is or knows someone who uses Vista; It's not like people hate Vista just because they never used it, and are blindly following what the mac ads say.
Putting tech-clueless people on a souped up computer instructing them to do a few pre-planned processes won't prove or make Vista better, because mostly everyone has 'decided for themselves' already.
Apple doesn't sell cheap hardware (and I don't mean cost), and don't sell any computers cheaper than the mac mini.
Still, they have a 38% growth rate, the fastest in the industry, and their products continue to lead in customer satisfaction, lifespan, etc.
I don't care if Apple never sale as much as pc, because Apple is more concerned with making a halfway decent product, even if it only applies to the minority premium computer market made up of people that usually know what a good computer is.

Macs don't have a compatibility 'issue'. Microsoft sells it's OS to everyone, where Apple makes and maintains its' own OS. Thus, developers are practically forced to develop either cross-platform or for Windows. It's not an issue as much as it is an effect of rival monopolistic actions.
the mojave experiment ads are misleading. i tried windows vista (boot camp, i own a mac) and i really liked the design, but the functionality really sucks. example; i was on a wireless connection, and my mac picked it up just fine. ON THE SAME MAC MACHINE, with the boot camp Vista installation, i couldn't get a connection. Vista asked me what i wanted to do, and i asked vista to solve the problem. the it sent me to AN INTERNET PAGE with tips, a f*cking internet page to help me get internet!!???

Well PC means more than "personal computer". As the term is a shortened way of saying, IBM compatible personal computer. Which until Apple switched to Intel processors in 2006 it wasn't. But now yes a mac has the same infrastructure as a PC the only difference is the OS.
The Mac ads seem like normal marketing ads. Pointing out the good in your own product while ignoring the good in a competitor's product, and even focusing on their negatives.
The Mojave Experiment just kind of points out that Vista has had such a bad reputation that Microsoft has to trick people into thinking it's something else before they'll like it.
PC's are for people who have the time or money to make their machines what they want them to be. Alot of the problems with vista is that they tried to upgrade it onto their old machines which weren't powerful enough to run it. Windows Vista is a fine operating system. I built my computer from scratch with hardware powerful enough to run it and have never had it crash or had any problems with it and I have had it for 2 years now. I liked the Mac ad's their pretty funny.
Don't say stuff like "Ubuntu>Anything". I am a happy user of Unix and GNU/Linux-based systems, but there is no "omnipotent OS". For example, Unix and GNU/Linux-based systems may be user-friendly, but then they're very selective with whom to be friends with. Well, except Mac OS X, Apple did a damn good job in making a Unix system user friendly.
well the problem is that making 64 bit program for windows is extremely simple, you just "press a button" and its done while for mac you have to rewrite the program completely

In Us MBP might be a solution for graphics in europe for the price of apple you can get awesome laptop from dell or sony (at least in switzerland), well youre from germany so its prolly be more or less same
graphics card doesn't mean gaming, and anyways many ppl would argue that a much cheaper pc could have far better gaming hardware. also macs cant run older games which many people argue to be much better. also the amount of 3rd party software on the mac is much lower compared to pc's, macs are more expensive, and have a less extensive amount of software, especially for someone who cant afford high end software which is available on both OS's
Mojave experiment... Hmm... If these people would use it with their old scanners and printers they'll know what trouble they brought on themselves. My cousin has so many problems with it. A friend of mine came over, he needed to get on the internet (wireless), the first time it worked, the second time... it took forever to get the damn machine on the internet again.

yea cause u and ur friend are way to noob to download a driver. it takes about 1 sec and windows can be set to find it for u. if ur not able to set up a printer im wondering why you even have a new computer at all. for word processing lol. and a simple workaround to getting most old software to run on vista is to simply check "run as admin" in the properties window
It's not that they are too "n00b", it's just an annoying hassle. They're also incompatible drivers for Vista. You can't just download an XP driver and use it in Vista every time. And I don't want to run apps as admin.. That's the easiest way to get screwed by Virus' and Bugs. Running as admin will give that application Admin permissions and allow it to modify system files. I tried Vista for awhile and I just don't like it. IMO, it's not a good OS.
To comment on the video, I like the mojave experiment better. But it's not because I like Windows. The Apple campaigns seem low punching to me, also petty and childish. They should be able to market their product without putting down the competition. And the mojave experiment for the most part is true. Most people say Windows Vista sucks is because everyone else says it, and it had a bad release. They are right you should see for yourself.

I think the mac adds make more sense for getting their target market of people who don't really work extensively with computers but the Mojave project doesn't really convince anybody who already knows a lot about computers anything knew, I personally am fine with vista but it has a lot of the old problems and those peoples reactions don't convince the main stream the way the apple adds do it is more of a plot to breed more loyalty and imply that apple is spouting lies.

By the way, I'm still a bit confused - Does it back up the file or does it back the entire system up? The commercial is very ambiguous. Go figure.
its bring you to an "image" of that day and you can browse the files that you had that day. you can take that file back to your present window thus "restoring" the file and not the whole hard drive of that day.

actually Vista is a good OS it was really device driver manufacturers fualt that there were some many issues so the blame goes to the lazy ass driver manufacturers and ignorant users who follow the word of other equally ignorant people
now that the drivers for vista are out there (becuase bill "talked" with the driver manufacturers) it really comes down to users to understand that they need to update there drivers so there hardware and software will work correctly together

At Mojave
The people who used Mojave used it on a 7000 dollar laptop, and never got to use the applications that they may need to use for there job or such, and they didn't even connect any external devices to it. Not only that, but they probably didn't do anything too heavy on it ether. The people surveyed didn't even look like they owned a computer. Man I wish I could have been part of that experiment, and I would have ran winver and found out it was Vista. Id rub their nose in it.

umm, wha? last virus on mac that I personally experienced was in 1996, which was called the autostart virus. It was discovered pretty fast, and an antivirus app was cooked up within weeks, called "earlybird".
The thing that people don't seem to quite get is that with UNIX, the system of permissions and processes, it's a fortress. You could get in with patience, social engineering and a lot of skill, but you won't have wildfire viral spread.

The only reason why people say Mac is better than a PC is because they are ignorant. The reason why Macs do not get viruses is because no one makes viruses for Macs. The reason being is because why would a person make viruses for the minority. Macs control less than 5% of all computers while the 94% is run by Microsoft. what about that 1%? well you have Linux and other OSs. Another thing is when a Mac does get a virus, how do you fix it? You cant, you have to by a new Mac. PCs are easy to fix.

Mac is BSD UNIX. As used by banks & the military. If any nasty trojan or malware is gonna start touching files which belong to other apps or the system, you have to log that app in with an admin password.
There's plenty of security apps for mac. Fact remains that high security is built into the OS from the ground up. BSD has been heavily wargamed.
There are doubtless a few chinks in OSX's armour, but nothing like the horrors of XP, where a webpage can kill you dead etc.

Mac uses a part of BSD code... a lot of things do.
Nothing is uncrackable. Any computer can be opened and spoken to in binary. Nothing can stop that but a power switch.
Its more than possible to make a mac running osx panic and error a browser to reboot. thats unavoidable. Visiting websites on geocities could probably destroy a Mac, lol. Let alone any PC.

Mac's are easy to use out of the box. Older people like them because they they're great at surfing the web, making movies, writing docs when you buy them.
PC's on the other hand are better for people who like creating/customizing/modding their computers. My PC plays games super fast because I built it from the ground up and overclocked the graphics cards.
My PC can do anything a mac can do, and do it faster, all for under $1,500. Vista really isn't that bad either.

I own both PC's and Mac's. Depends on what I am using them for. Right now if I am gaming or working in 3d I will use the pc hands down. If I need to do video editing I will use the mac in a second hands down. Untill mac's come down in prices, support alot more games, and my 3d software packages, I will be sticking to the pc for a majority of my work, but so far I have gotten into linux again and I am very pleased with it due to the whine project. I do like vista though, but I also like leopard.

I spent my WHOLE life using PC until I went to college in 2003 (Art College) and all they use are Mac's as far as design goes, and I hated it because the functions were confusing...Then I bought a PowerBook G4 and realized I was only confused because I was used to taking the long complicated PC route when the Mac functions are as nice and simple as the word implies...I WILL NEVER TOUCH A PC AGAIN!!! I have used both, and was very anti Mac before I did. Now that I have used both, Mac wins hands down. It works. Period. Having done countless video and audio projects, Macs wins hands down. I even used the same program for video editing on both PC and Mac, the mac was a joy to use. PC's are not bad, I still use one, but I will always prefer a Mac until windows gets it act togeather.
I used to hate Macs, but that day is over. And don't bash on Apple until you have spent time using a Mac.

The Microsoft campaign is better. The "Get a Mac" adverts are funny, ok, but not really true. Example: Vista is providing a shadow copy function to, this is no special benefit of apple. Apple does not show what their OS really can, only what Vista can't. Microsoft shows us, that Vista's image is not as good as the program really is. Plus: my printer works fine with Vista ;)

It's a mixed bad of pros and cons between the two. I have never used a Mac before, though I hear good things, and I have had plenty of experience with Vista, and I thoroughly enjoy it. All the crashes on my computer come from faults of my own, not Vista's. From what I understand Mac is a workplace/general use OS, While Vista is general/gaming. Seriously, only a handful of games come out for Mac. I say go with Vista...of course there is always the spectacle that is LINUX. I use Linux and Vista :)

Go to your nearest apple shop and grab a mac and use it a few minutes. it'll be just like vista, except less transparent (and faster, especially on lower-mem systems). The only big problem with macs that I have is actually the UI. Its ok for creative stuff, like garageband and imovie, but not really that great for work (mac os 9 has a better UI for that). Id say that Mac OS X is a creative/general use OS, while vista is a work/general/waste your memory OS, and XP is a work/gaming OS.

Vista has gone mainstream, which means hackers will always be looking for loop holes, Just like how Norton was, at first it was good, now its in the shit hole. I'd say that Vista is better for people whom know how to use a computer, unlike Macs, which are made for people who would usually start using computer. Vista has most of the functions of XP so you just basically have a few new adjustments, Its usually slow for machines that aren't powerful enough to use Vista. Its very rewarding if you get a good machine, It also makes it easier to customize your computer. On the downside I'd say the anti-virus and spyware isn't the best because

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I think you may have misinterpreted my post. I'm talking about how the Mojave commercials are misleading; nothing about which platform has the most freedom.
But while we are on that point, don't forget that while Macs have hardware restrictions, they only make the OS that much better because it's specialized. Also, OS X, unlike Vista, has full software freedom. I can run any piece of software you give me on a Mac, including Vista.

Whoa, I just thought of the ultimate zing for Apple to pull off; get the people that took the mojave experiment to try a mac. And not to just limit them to do a few things either, just get an entry level imac and let them do whatever. Oh ok then, I thought you meant the 'conclusion' of the experiment.
Still, the whole thing is rigged. The computers likely have better tech specs than any Vista computer they've owned, the people conducting the experiment only allow the test takers to do certain, 'already loaded in RAM' things, and there is even software put on the computer that doesn't come bundled with Vista. That paints a good picture, but not of Vista.
Coming to think of it... it does raise my curiosity a bit.

The main flaw with the 'Mojave Experiment' is that Vista, though Microsoft likes to think, is not in the same position as Apple is. Everyone I know is or knows someone who uses Vista; It's not like people hate Vista just because they never used it, and are blindly following what the mac ads say.
Putting tech-clueless people on a souped up computer instructing them to do a few pre-planned processes won't prove or make Vista better, because mostly everyone has 'decided for themselves' already.

Apple doesn't sell cheap hardware (and I don't mean cost), and don't sell any computers cheaper than the mac mini.
Still, they have a 38% growth rate, the fastest in the industry, and their products continue to lead in customer satisfaction, lifespan, etc.
I don't care if Apple never sale as much as pc, because Apple is more concerned with making a halfway decent product, even if it only applies to the minority premium computer market made up of people that usually know what a good computer is.

well, ofcoarse mac makes really good reliable hardware and computers but i mean come on, who has the money to buy a 500 dollar computer with little to none harddrive space, barely any ram and no monitor included, plus the compatability issue with mac os, if your a gamer you cant buy a mac because you wont be able to play any games on it really, and its just not practical to buy a mac rite now unless your one of those fairly good off people who can afford it

My macbook cost $400 less than a Dell XPS model (Dell's line of computers made with about the same quality of Apple's lower models) with similar hardware/software at the time.
Macs don't have a compatibility 'issue'. Microsoft sells it's OS to everyone, where Apple makes and maintains its' own OS. Thus, developers are practically forced to develop either cross-platform or for Windows. It's not an issue as much as it is an effect of rival monopolistic actions.
Macs can run Windows anyway.

the mojave experiment ads are misleading. i tried windows vista (boot camp, i own a mac) and i really liked the design, but the functionality really sucks. example; i was on a wireless connection, and my mac picked it up just fine. ON THE SAME MAC MACHINE, with the boot camp Vista installation, i couldn't get a connection. Vista asked me what i wanted to do, and i asked vista to solve the problem. the it sent me to AN INTERNET PAGE with tips, a f*cking internet page to help me get internet!!???

Well PC means more than "personal computer". As the term is a shortened way of saying, IBM compatible personal computer. Which until Apple switched to Intel processors in 2006 it wasn't. But now yes a mac has the same infrastructure as a PC the only difference is the OS.

The Mac ads seem like normal marketing ads. Pointing out the good in your own product while ignoring the good in a competitor's product, and even focusing on their negatives.
The Mojave Experiment just kind of points out that Vista has had such a bad reputation that Microsoft has to trick people into thinking it's something else before they'll like it.

PC's are for people who have the time or money to make their machines what they want them to be. Alot of the problems with vista is that they tried to upgrade it onto their old machines which weren't powerful enough to run it. Windows Vista is a fine operating system. I built my computer from scratch with hardware powerful enough to run it and have never had it crash or had any problems with it and I have had it for 2 years now. I liked the Mac ad's their pretty funny.

For example, Unix and GNU/Linux-based systems may be user-friendly, but then they're very selective with whom to be friends with. Well, except Mac OS X, Apple did a damn good job in making a Unix system user friendly.

well the problem is that making 64 bit program for windows is extremely simple, you just "press a button" and its done while for mac you have to rewrite the program completely

graphics card doesn't mean gaming, and anyways many ppl would argue that a much cheaper pc could have far better gaming hardware. also macs cant run older games which many people argue to be much better. also the amount of 3rd party software on the mac is much lower compared to pc's, macs are more expensive, and have a less extensive amount of software, especially for someone who cant afford high end software which is available on both OS's

Mojave experiment... Hmm... If these people would use it with their old scanners and printers they'll know what trouble they brought on themselves. My cousin has so many problems with it. A friend of mine came over, he needed to get on the internet (wireless), the first time it worked, the second time... it took forever to get the damn machine on the internet again.
The Mac Ads, these may be rude in some way, but atleast they're not lies.

My friend's scanner was 2 years old.
The scanner I bought in 2001 (when we bought it with our windows ME machine) works fine in Leopard.
Okay, the companies should make decent drivers, but why is it when I plug something into my Mac it works? I don't need to go surf the internet for drivers.
I found somewhat truth in those vids.
Yes, I have heard of the Backup feature. Hell, I worked with XP since 2002 till last year. I just prefer my mac.

Time Machine is user friendlier than Shadow Copy/Previous Versions. In XP it was quite hidden, nearly nobody knew about it.

Oh, and my old printer doesn't work in OS X, too, it works in XP, I don't know if it works in Vista. Got a new one.

yea cause u and ur friend are way to noob to download a driver. it takes about 1 sec and windows can be set to find it for u. if ur not able to set up a printer im wondering why you even have a new computer at all. for word processing lol. and a simple workaround to getting most old software to run on vista is to simply check "run as admin" in the properties window

It's not that they are too "n00b", it's just an annoying hassle. They're also incompatible drivers for Vista. You can't just download an XP driver and use it in Vista every time. And I don't want to run apps as admin.. That's the easiest way to get screwed by Virus' and Bugs. Running as admin will give that application Admin permissions and allow it to modify system files. I tried Vista for awhile and I just don't like it. IMO, it's not a good OS.
I use Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.

To comment on the video, I like the mojave experiment better. But it's not because I like Windows. The Apple campaigns seem low punching to me, also petty and childish. They should be able to market their product without putting down the competition. And the mojave experiment for the most part is true. Most people say Windows Vista sucks is because everyone else says it, and it had a bad release. They are right you should see for yourself.

I think the mac adds make more sense for getting their target market of people who don't really work extensively with computers but the Mojave project doesn't really convince anybody who already knows a lot about computers anything knew, I personally am fine with vista but it has a lot of the old problems and those peoples reactions don't convince the main stream the way the apple adds do it is more of a plot to breed more loyalty and imply that apple is spouting lies.

Gotta say, I've had mixed experiences, so you're probably right. In that case, there are programs that can do this for you - Norton Goback to mention a prominent one.
By the way, I'm still a bit confused - Does it back up the file or does it back the entire system up? The commercial is very ambiguous. Go figure.

its bring you to an "image" of that day and you can browse the files that you had that day. you can take that file back to your present window thus "restoring" the file and not the whole hard drive of that day.
