jajajajaja fuckers!!!!i don like orion is bad bass !!! well! jajajaja bla bla bla!!! see you guys later!!!! have fun whit those super subwoofers!!! i love them!!!! :)
hey all ikm getting a 15 hcca dual 4ohm coils outtin n my explorer lookin for a amp i found a mtx 1501d says 1200rms at 2 ohms --any1 know bout that amp and if it'd push the hcca well ??? im hittin a 142bd with my current set up but not loud enough/...
check out my pics its 2 15" treo TE's. they are rated 500 watts and i am pushing 1100 to each in a 6.5 cube box tuned at 45 hz. google and type in "sub driven car club" and click on the myspace url.
a low tune doesn't necessarily make your subs blow if its set up right. at the sound quality competitions, its not uncommon to see subwoofer enclosures tuned below 20 hz. they do this for 2 reasons. they dont want the db bump and they want to keep the efficiency of a ported box. what they do is just block any sound under 20 hz so they don't damage there drivers.

ports really dont even make the shit louder they just make it hit harder. some of the loudest systems are in sealed boxes but big sealed boxes and have baffles and are insulated and other shit inside them so it changes the sound at different hz
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
listen dipshit maybe if you get ur head out of ur ass and actually read about sub boxes before you go shooting off ur cocksucker you would know that what i said is true. ports dont make shit that much louder but it hits beats harder and makes it less responsive to carry a beat. see if you knew anything about sub boxes you would know what im talking about but you dont.
"Rolls eyes" Normally ported enclosures will yield a roughly 3db gain over a sealed enclosure if designed correctly. Normally sealed boxes will give a tighter response which is more suited for rock music or metal. However, some ported enclosure can be designed to give a more flat and "tight" response. You grammar is almost as ignorant as your knowledge of car audio. Shut you mouth and learn something. Idiot.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
listen douche bag 3 db isnt shit i said that ported boxes do not make it much louder. fuckin learn how to read because you just restated what i said in the first place and ill say it again, ports dont make ur system MUCH louder but they do make it louder.sealed boxes are more responsive. ur right to ok we basically said the same thing.
i would agree with that. they call it the plateau effect. sound compression increases dramatically, but actual db gain is very small. the higher the db gets the worse it gets. it takes so much power and u gain actually very little.
@blown4six im not correcting you, just adding on. its roughly a 3db gain in equal volume box going from sealed to ported, and to extend to lower frequency range, you need to tune it very low which involves using a large box, usually very large. sealed has a flatter response in a smaller box, but you can achieve the same and better results with a large ported enclosure with a low tuning frequency. and this isn't even taking into account woofer specs which can be relatively important.
yea you gonna blow that speaker dawg unless you port it. my uncles bmw 325i has a nice setup we getting done today.ill try to post a vid response today or whenever we get it done.the setups nice i cant rellay describe it.
Since when did a port determine the difference between blowing a subwoofer and NOT blowing a subwoofer? Last I checked, you only blew it if you overpowered it, ran high power at a very high frequency, or installed it in an enclosure that wasn't suited for it's specs, NOT if you ran it in a sealed box at recommended continuous power.
porting it has nothing to do with blowing a sub.......... all the port does is allow air movment, actually having a sealed enclosure makes it HARDER to blow a sub, because when the sub drives back into the box, the sealed box has less air movment so it gets compressed stopping the sub from moving a very very small amount. just an itsy tiny bit less then a ported.
A port focuses tuning of the enclosure to a certain freq, say 30 hz, and unloading the driver of approx 10 hz less then tunning freq causes the driver to bottom out and reach it's mechanical limits, when a sub tries to unload at those low freq, non-thermal failure occurs.
Sealed enclosures are a lot less efficient and do not allow cool air to cool the sub, but due to the higher resistance given in a sealed, it has better thermal
Just to put an end to all the bitchin' going on in here.
HCCA are good for what they are, they retail at around £250 which for a sub like this is amazing. Yes if it was 4 500quid then I woudn't touch these. Propper Droppers use HCCA so it's not just SPL they play music just fine and can play the lows aswel!!
ebay. But the price has gone up. I got my 15's Feb 08' for 350 + 50 for shipping... Now they are fucking ridiculous. Goddamn bastards leaching motherfuckers for their hard earned bucks. A 15 goes for approximately 400+ and the 12's at 300+. Its bullshit. But just look around, google it or something! Think out side the circle!
i bought this sub 12.2 but don't know what exact box to put it in with how many cubes? and what port size i found some boxes......But i need help someone.
I am confused, does the surround of the speaker matter? does it gotta be fat or tall?or both. some people say that subwoofers with a fat surround have less cone area and they do not produce deep bass compared to the ones that have more cone area. is it true?
whatever you do if u get a 15' make sure that u get a 1' mdf board box because my 15' broke the 3/4' mdf in half along the port. i need to get a bigger box for it anyways
dude definatley these. The W7s will put a huge hole in your pocket and the Orions can handle a lot more wattage. I think the sensitivity on the Orions is even higher, but i'm not positive.
I'm not gonna lie man. W7's are some of the best for SQ, but for loudness.. go with these. They are cheap, can handle A Lot of wattage and are designed for SPL. Sorry if I offended you man, they are good woofers though. I was just saying for loudness, go with these and save money. But JL has a lot better quality. I heard a good amount of JLs and was amazed by the quality.. they are so clean but cost so much. Its all about their personal preference..can't really compare SQ to SPL.
You are right, and no i'm not offended. Of course these are going to get louder but sound like complete ass (I personally heard one) and TBH its not that great of a woofer, they can't put up numbers.
Lol I haven't heard one of these in person yet but they had good specs when I was looking for a new system. I'll know to stay away now.. personally i'd prefer loud with good quality.
no its just highly recomended in the manual it says that you should because they were afraid the heavy wieght would fuck up the alignment and brake the sub or some crazzy shit like that. so do you have to no should you... considering thiers no warranty im gunna have to say ya ha.
correction i bought 4 15 inch brand new in sealed box for $900 buck so it was 450 each and its the 15" that i bought i supose the 12" ones are cheaper. i bought them in cali.

You need more power to feed a sub in a sealed enclosure, more power, more chance to blow a sub.
Ported has less resistance for the cone, except few hz around tuned frequency.
It's easier to bottom out a sub in a ported enclosure then in a sealed enclosure.
epiphonesg007 2 years ago

Might only be 3db louder, but the point of using a ported enclosure is to extend the low-frequency response, and also extends the range.
Sometimes its not all about db gains as much as it is about hitting lower frequencies, which is why I am going vented and building a tuned enclosure.
ps. dont be so ignorant.
