  • kick ass!

  • damn wuts up with that bak sticker is just like sayin steal me lock yo shit bro lol sounds hard as hell

  • grymt mannen. diggar din bil så jävla micket =)

  • You need more power to feed a sub in a sealed enclosure, more power, more chance to blow a sub.

Ported has less resistance for the cone, except few hz around tuned frequency.

It's easier to bottom out a sub in a ported enclosure then in a sealed enclosure.

  • check out my pics its 2 15" treo TE's. they are rated 500 watts and i am pushing 1100 to each in a 6.5 cube box tuned at 45 hz. google and type in "sub driven car club" and click on the myspace url.

never had a bottom out prob. :)

  • If you know what you're doin and have good subs, you won't bottom them out, but building a sealed box is easier.

  • a low tune doesn't necessarily make your subs blow if its set up right. at the sound quality competitions, its not uncommon to see subwoofer enclosures tuned below 20 hz. they do this for 2 reasons. they dont want the db bump and they want to keep the efficiency of a ported box. what they do is just block any sound under 20 hz so they don't damage there drivers.

  • Out of all the car audio comments I've seen on youtube this has the be the dumbest!

  • "Rolls eyes" Normally ported enclosures will yield a roughly 3db gain over a sealed enclosure if designed correctly. Normally sealed boxes will give a tighter response which is more suited for rock music or metal. However, some ported enclosure can be designed to give a more flat and "tight" response. You grammar is almost as ignorant as your knowledge of car audio. Shut you mouth and learn something. Idiot.

  • do you realized how hard it is to gain 3db at the higher lv.s??? to go from 150-153 is a fairly large jump....

  • i would agree with that. they call it the plateau effect. sound compression increases dramatically, but actual db gain is very small. the higher the db gets the worse it gets. it takes so much power and u gain actually very little.

  • Might only be 3db louder, but the point of using a ported enclosure is to extend the low-frequency response, and also extends the range.

Sometimes its not all about db gains as much as it is about hitting lower frequencies, which is why I am going vented and building a tuned enclosure.

    ps. dont be so ignorant.

  • @blown4six im not correcting you, just adding on. its roughly a 3db gain in equal volume box going from sealed to ported, and to extend to lower frequency range, you need to tune it very low which involves using a large box, usually very large. sealed has a flatter response in a smaller box, but you can achieve the same and better results with a large ported enclosure with a low tuning frequency. and this isn't even taking into account woofer specs which can be relatively important.

    =D

  • @blown4six but if the ported enclosure should play deeper than the sealed, it will be more than 2 times larger!

  • @DizzlerDazzler

True, one of the downsides of vented. But if you wanna go low, ya gotta pay to play.

  • wow something tells me you install car audio systems at least once a day

  • 'You grammar' lol.

  • I fucked up an epic ownage by missing the "r" key. Damn! lol

  • @joestl314 "you grammar" ROFL that must feel like shit to dis someone about grammar and fuck up while dissing him :D

  • what do you think "beating harder is" its called being louder...

  • @kickerman4life dumbest thing ive every heard

  • now THATS what im talkin about folks!!!!!!! orion has been makin bad ass subs for over 20 years ,,,,, them muh fukaz ain't no punk...

  • Sounds nice man..

  • Comment removed

  • Xmax on that enlcosure looks like 50mm

  • It's actually 30mm xmax

  • ah those must be 12's then. they looked like 15's

  • 4 inches is what it says on Orion's website

  • nice setup. Come check my 15" orion hcca vid out.

  • yea you gonna blow that speaker dawg unless you port it. my uncles bmw 325i has a nice setup we getting done today.ill try to post a vid response today or whenever we get it done.the setups nice i cant rellay describe it.

  • Since when did a port determine the difference between blowing a subwoofer and NOT blowing a subwoofer? Last I checked, you only blew it if you overpowered it, ran high power at a very high frequency, or installed it in an enclosure that wasn't suited for it's specs, NOT if you ran it in a sealed box at recommended continuous power.

  • porting it has nothing to do with blowing a sub.......... all the port does is allow air movment, actually having a sealed enclosure makes it HARDER to blow a sub, because when the sub drives back into the box, the sealed box has less air movment so it gets compressed stopping the sub from moving a very very small amount. just an itsy tiny bit less then a ported.

  • Are you serious?

Porting has everything to do with blowing a sub

A port focuses tuning of the enclosure to a certain freq, say 30 hz, and unloading the driver of approx 10 hz less then tunning freq causes the driver to bottom out and reach it's mechanical limits, when a sub tries to unload at those low freq, non-thermal failure occurs.

Sealed enclosures are a lot less efficient and do not allow cool air to cool the sub, but due to the higher resistance given in a sealed, it has better thermal

  • That isnt that bad. I paid 200 for type R 12s each.

  • I'll get you one for $425

  • I'll get you one for $349.99 for the DVC 2 ohm or $299.99 for the DVC4.

  • is that box ported

  • My favourite sub is Orion <3 xD:D

  • Yea it's nice, but at $600 its a bit pricey. I wouldnt know what to do with one of those. The amp alone would cost just as much.

  • just did a 147.5dB at the head rest with 2 HCCA 12'a, Madvette Madness #1 MECA Murphesboro TN. Mod 5 Class

  • Just to put an end to all the bitchin' going on in here.

HCCA are good for what they are, they retail at around £250 which for a sub like this is amazing. Yes if it was 4 500quid then I woudn't touch these. Propper Droppers use HCCA so it's not just SPL they play music just fine and can play the lows aswel!!

    Overall value for money subwoofer.

  • wheres the best place to find them?

  • ebay. But the price has gone up. I got my 15's Feb 08' for 350 + 50 for shipping... Now they are fucking ridiculous. Goddamn bastards leaching motherfuckers for their hard earned bucks. A 15 goes for approximately 400+ and the 12's at 300+. Its bullshit. But just look around, google it or something! Think out side the circle!

  • is that only 1 d5000 powering those subs?

  • Comment removed

  • if you listen to this with headphones on, it sounds like someone playing laser tag in outer space or some shit.

  • damn hcca's got some ballz!

  • bassotronics - bass i love you

  • song name?

  • nice shit bro. but wit thoze subs u still got room to upgrade amp(s)

  • whats a good amp to push two of these and are these subs good?

  • i bought this sub 12.2 but don't know what exact box to put it in with how many cubes? and what port size i found some boxes......But i need help someone.

  • dude i went thro the phase. best thing to do is get a refund.

  • I am confused, does the surround of the speaker matter? does it gotta be fat or tall?or both. some people say that subwoofers with a fat surround have less cone area and they do not produce deep bass compared to the ones that have more cone area. is it true?

  • what's the name of that song ?

  • the name of bass test is

    BASS I LOVE YOU

  • howly fuck!!!!!!

look at the fucking excursion on thoes things.....fuck man woooooww!!!!

that's some good shit right there ^^

  • whatever you do if u get a 15' make sure that u get a 1' mdf board box because my 15' broke the 3/4' mdf in half along the port. i need to get a bigger box for it anyways

  • thats fuckin sick dude...Im tryin to decide between these and w7s....

  • dude definatley these. The W7s will put a huge hole in your pocket and the Orions can handle a lot more wattage. I think the sensitivity on the Orions is even higher, but i'm not positive.

  • They're totally different sub woofers designed to do two different things.

W7 designed for "SQL" and the HCCA is more SPL based.

  • I'm not gonna lie man. W7's are some of the best for SQ, but for loudness.. go with these. They are cheap, can handle A Lot of wattage and are designed for SPL. Sorry if I offended you man, they are good woofers though. I was just saying for loudness, go with these and save money. But JL has a lot better quality. I heard a good amount of JLs and was amazed by the quality.. they are so clean but cost so much. Its all about their personal preference..can't really compare SQ to SPL.

  • You are right, and no i'm not offended. Of course these are going to get louder but sound like complete ass (I personally heard one) and TBH its not that great of a woofer, they can't put up numbers.

  • Lol I haven't heard one of these in person yet but they had good specs when I was looking for a new system. I'll know to stay away now.. personally i'd prefer loud with good quality.

  • Look into the Sundown Nightshades or AudioQue HDC3's, I currently run 2 15" HDC3's on a Sundown 3000D.

I should be picking up my new subs this week, doing 4 15" Sundown Nightshades.

  • Nice, gonna post some vids when you upgrade? Like the current setup as well..

  • Of course.

Ran into a little problem as I might not be able to fit 4 15's :( I only have 28 depth to work with because of batteries.. :( I might do 3 though.

  • fuck yo shit hella nice cuz

  • yamaha you can fit like 4 or 6 if you tryed

  • god dammmmnn

  • this is exactly what im getting in my expedition....how much did u pay for these subs and amp?

  • Thats the crazyest shit i ever seen.

  • do you guys think i can fit one or 2 in a ported box in a mustang

  • no maybe 2 12's but anything bigger wont fit in the tiny mustang trunks

  • what do people recommend of these? just bought one... are they best in a sealed or ported enclosure?

  • if your lookin for spl ported, they sound amazing in either though i have mine in a double port and it slams

  • ported almost always puts out a better decibel sound reading so ported.

  • Is it true they have to be played Straight up and down?

  • no its just highly recomended in the manual it says that you should because they were afraid the heavy wieght would fuck up the alignment and brake the sub or some crazzy shit like that. so do you have to no should you... considering thiers no warranty im gunna have to say ya ha.

  • how is the sound quality

  • holy shit i wanna put my head on it =P

  • nice bass nigga

  • Im almost thinking of getting these subs just because of this video...

  • Good luck payin' for all of that...those subs are like 700 bucks at it's cheapest...each.

  • You can get the 15" orion hcca dual 4 ohm model for 380.00 a piece from sonicelectronics

  • correction i bought 4 15 inch brand new in sealed box for $900 buck so it was 450 each and its the 15" that i bought i supose the 12" ones are cheaper. i bought them in cali.

  • what's the name ofthis song?

  • bass i love you

  • there is nothing wrong with his camera or subs, theres something wrong with you, its because he has enough power and cone area to produce enough air movement to make the whole car windy, stick the camera facing sideways out a car while speeding, it will make the same noise

  • its not to do with that, its because the mic cant handle the amount of bass the system produces.....its like clipping a sound system, but the opposite is hapening to the mic, so when you play it back its all distorted ;)

  • so just batteries, u dont need a capacitor or an alternator or naw u have one??

n is it n a sealed or ported box? how much it run u$ wise in the end total?? n how many watts

please explain, what u started from then finished with im looking to do it exsaclty myself, nice subs they knock hard respect!!

  • just for the TWO subs ALONE ur looking at over 1200 dollars...

  • I got two 15's for 750 + shippinz.

  • ok no capacitor becuase they really dont do shit get a yellow top battery and a high out put alt for ur car. and if u wanna u can throw a few more batterys lol

  • run a separate high output alt. just for the amp

  • damn you blew that camera mic

  • Damn the camera speaker is junk now! That slams man!

  • you've just sold me on these subs... ima pick up a 15" one... was looking at a pair of Alpine type r's b4 in 15"

  • ATTENTION MR.NYBERG: How many Farad is your capacitor? And also, what other equipment components are you using, such as X-overs and what not.

  • i dont use any capacitor, why should i ??

    i have batteries,

    not any crossover,

pioneer p88rs player, has everything u need,

  • caps are a complete waiste, they act as a load rather then a help...... they have never been solidly proven to do anything, ever notice how there is no advertising of like "before and after" becouse there is nothing to show...

  • How many Batteries are you using in this setup, alternator, amps?????

  • 2 D5000 amps,

    6 batteries, and stock alternator,

i have ne 275A alternator laying here,

but going to build in a new car now instead.

  • ported?

  • This song is called "Bass I Love You"

  • what song is that?

  • bassotronics-bass i love you

  • nice set up but the sticker on the back window is screamin "come jack my shit"i love Orion so much my 9 year old son is named Orion

  • lol nice im gettin 4 15.2 orion HCCA in my car soon, vid will b up
