It's a 453N with the four valve head. It has 4.56 gears in the axles that work OK with the Clark but I wished I could split the middle three gears on hills.
What gear ratio did you have in the axle? im getting ready to put in a 4-53n and that same clark transmission in my 72 f250 4x4. I have a 4:11 gear ratio. Im hoping I dont have a wide gear spread. grat vid by the way. sorry to hear you sold it.
sounds absolutely amazing. too much of a gear spread for my liking---sounds like you have to just about redline it to get into the next gear and the next gear seems to lug, except for top gear. but what a sound, and love the long shifter! what did you do for exhaust?
The truck sounds great but at the cost of practicality, the gears are way too far apart for the little 4-53. Driving this truck is actually like driving a Mack with the old Maxitroque five speed - you're always up against the governor or lugging it. Memories..
This truck has a 4 inch straight pipe to a pair of chrome stack in the bed. Africa can hear it coming.
@poppiesrule thats how the old jimmys were u have to red line them to get power outa them...slam ur hand in the door as soon as u get in and drive it like u hate its guts ha ....
I have some other clips I might try and upload later, but the truck is on eBay right now so I won't be driving it for much longer (I'll be sorry to see it go, too!).

I drove a 64 studebaker ,with a 453 ,it had that same tranny,once you got used to it ,it was ok,----good video

Clark 262 with overdrive to the stock t-case. Weirdest shift pattern I've even seen in an on highway vehicle:

@chevenstein Is it supposed to be that way? I heard that changing the linkages can alter the shift pattern.
