Please tell me you have a flashback arrestor between your regulator and engine? I also wanted to know if you are aware of the reaction between gaseous oxygen and oil/grease? These two combined can spontaneously and violently ignite.Classic examples are where oil/grease contamination is present without the user being aware of it on things such as fittings, tools, seals, sealing o-rings etc, just to let you know.I don't know what %O you are using or it's pressure but better to be cautious.
also, I've built this exact same thing... i really want to try it but i cant find an oxygen tank. All i can find is the oxygen at ace hardware that comes in a bottle(without a valve)
@pangpengmaster I haven't tried nitrous yet, its actually almost impossible to find here. If I go for hydrogen Im going to use liquid hydrogen in a liquid engine.
@jrbpyro101 You can probably get N2O as an anesthetic or just simply obtain it from heating Ammonium Nitrate or mixing nitric acid with sulphamic acid. I did it at home but I never thought to make a rocket engine. But its dangerous too, so Oxygen is still a better choice. BTW, I'm subscribing!
OMFG I LOVE U!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHUT IVE BEEN SERCHING FOR IS THER A VID TO SHOW ME HOW TO MAKE THIS?!?!
...ther is a reason to this....im goin to make 4 of these and strap two to each of my feet....dumb u say? no....if it provide lift ill fly several feet but the thing is.....i have dreams bro teach me how to make this and u wont crush them thanks =P!!!
you sound young so bravo for experimenting...take a look at convergent-divergent nozzle design(de laval nozzle) for effective thrust (Mach>1 exhausts)...be careful though with oxygen...try experimenting with solid fuel first, familiarise and optimise those designs and then go into hybrid...keep it up!!
@jessiebm123 Well Ive never personally measured the thrust, but if it puts out 10+ pounds of thrust you could easily make a lightweight tank to go with it.
@Mr41432 a form of shock wave that you can see behind any gas powered jet or rocket engine when the exhaust passes the speed of sound, look on google images!
@cookiesrock35 actualy the hottest type is a blue/ purple flame because blue has a shorter wave lenth than white which is just a collection of all the colors.
Pure oxygen can not explode! Its an oxidizer not a fuel. Apollo 11 never had a fire or exploded, that was the first maned mission to land on the moon. Apollo 1 is the one that caught on fire because they were in a pure oxygen environment and it made all the velcro and plastic and such more flammable because O2 an oxidizer, and a spark ignited them, all the plastic is what burned not the oxygen. Oxygen doesnt burn by itself.

What is the size of your fuel line wire?

nice little project you've got goin there.

idk how reliabal of a rocket it would be bc of the leakage and the poping but still a very good motor

freaking awesome! Have you ever try nitrous oxide as oxidizer or hydrogen as its fuel?

you should like try to touch the orange molten stuff, and you'll end up on RWJ. LOL JKJK don't touch it. Suck on it LOL

@fear4maplesea whuts RWJ? =P
brandonsg123 10 months ago
@brandonsg123 RWJ is an acronym for Ray William Johnson, the host of a popular show by the name of =3. Look it up.

@killaaa2106 I'm not sure of the thrust, so I don't have a definite answer.

So basically you burn a piece of polyethylene tubing inside of some metal tubes with a continuous stream of oxygen. -.- hm looks good, but thats all.

I want a dad that would do such things with me :(
My dad only thinks it dangerous, although he played with it in his youth too :,(
Does anyone has any advice on convincing your dad to do this?
xD

how do you put it on a small scale rocket ??? the oxy tank cant go with it lol

advice from sugar rocket maker: reinforce/replace nozzle with either concrete.
i used concrete for nozzles for my sugar rockets

dont do this! pure o2 can explode if the flame runs back into the take look at Apollo 11
