Based on the size and number its most likely a mixed 48th, Tor Scot and probably Queens Own, Co-Op program Grad. Also with the Reserves you have to pull instructors from other units who can. For instance a Reserve BMQ may be running in Fort York but because they lake instructors they may request people from the Reserve units in Borden and Barrie.
The Tor Scots get their name, same as any other Scottish regiment, Irish Regiment or Highland Regiment because the people who formed it and made up its initial recruitment pool were from those places, or were the sons of parents from those places.
i'll answer for you, no. they are all the same. BMQ and SQ (which is what you are trained in the co-op program) is training that members of all branches of the Canadian Forces are required to complete.
well in the co op program you do bmq AND sq. nobody in my program is airforce or navy so i can't actually say whether or not they do sq. we are doing SQ in the program now though.
thanks! you answered my question. i had a feeling thats what it was but was not sure.this student co-op was reinstituted a few years back after an absents of more than 30yrs.iwould like to know if your son is now a serving member of the regiment,if so he has my utmost respect for joining the regimental family."CARRY ON"
is this the student co-op program because there is a differance or was this part of 32 brigade battle training course where they put new people from different regiments together because most new recruit training is done at fort york or our mississauga armoury as well as cfb petawawa or this must be an entirly new program
i think you will find that who ever took this video has the wrong regiment they have red torries on there balmorals rather than blue which tell me they are 48th highlanders not toronto scottish as they wear blue torries on their balmorals i am a tor scot and i should know
i took this video of my son's graduation ceremony for the toronto scottish reserve's co-op programme. i was at the fort york armoury when he signed up and it is definitly the torscots. maybe it's because its reserve co-op.
if you took this video this was shot at moss park armories and if you look at the instuctors they are wearing red torries on their balmorals which are the 48th highlander. my father was a member of the 48th and myself and my brother where tor scots i am also a member of the toronto scottish regimental associaton moss park armories is on queen st and for york armouries is on fleet st outside of the c.n.e. grounds
i know that the video is the moss park armoury. if you had taken the time to expand the comments about the video it's right there. i said i was at the fort york armoury when he signed up with the torscots. if your so connected with the torscots, then ask them who won the s.q. award at the grad ceremony for the co-op programme on june 14th this year. it was my son and he is a torscot.
you can direct further questions about the regiment to the lieutenant in command, the toronto scottish regiment, fort york armoury, toronto ontario canada. i'm sure they would give you the correct answer to your question.
