  • I cant believe this kinda stuff makes it on to the internet, oh wait, CNN is behind it, no wonder....douchebags

  • Mike Joy: "...as he walks away and waves to the crowd, this is a testament to what nascar is done in making these planes safer"

  • i dont think you guys appreciate how challenging it is to land there

  • he almost got killed twice and some of you act like its a joke, davey allison flew his own plane, are you laughing at him too???

  • That is true. But Still you have to give Jack props on droping the plane like he did.

  • 757 mech1 shut up. Jack roush is an awsome pilot. My dad works for Roush Racing and he has flowen with him. this plane was a test airplane and it broke in the right spot. did you listen to the news at all? the engine stalled and he went to pull up but it didnt have enought speed. He did the right thing. he didnt paniac and he flattened out the plane so it would skid across the landing. so they were all safe. I seen him at MIS 2 weeks ago when we went.

  • @MrRacekid I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I wanted to point out one thing. No pilot should ever try and pull up out of a stall until - the engine by law of physics with enough thrust will "push" the aircraft up and begin climbing on its own. Any pilot who pulls up during a stall causes what is known as a "double stall" - where you stall trying to escape a stall which is what it sounds like happen here. Mind you, this is a hard plane to fly either way.

  • This is what happens when you have more money then piloting skills... This is the 2nd airplane he has piled up...

  • Old fart needs to leave flying to a pro.Way to many senior citizens flying planes over houses and such they cant drive cars shure dont need them flying ill bet he shit his diaper!

  • @19thSFGA

hey he flies better then you hand he has over 1,000 of hours of flying under his belt, more to you.....so how about leaving commenting to the people who know some stuff bout jack roush and get a fucking life

  • @Patternforlife I have well over 4000 hours in multi engine complex, type rated in DC-3 C-123 Casa 212 so fuck you and oh yea fuck Jack Roush.Like i said before Ill bet he shit his diaper.

  • @19thSFGA grow up!!!

  • This is his second crash. Leave the jet flying to the professionals!!

  • looks worse than when nascar punched him in the mouth and stole martins championship.

  • o man thats bad its good hes ok Greg Biffle gettin that win was just wat he needed

  • I witnessed this crash with my father from about 100 yds. away. He is a pilot and a retired FAA accident investigator. I'm a pilot and instructor since 1980. We both instantly recognized this as a typical loss of control from a badly handled go-around attempt. colorfulaura, comparing this to Sullys perfect landing in the Hudson is just stupid. Jack crashed because of poor piloting, Just like his previous crashing a perfectly good airplane into powerlines. Pilot error!

  • As Jon Candy says: "Awe we can buff this out no pronlem !!!!"

  • Thanks for the concern about his back - both him and Brenda had fractured vertebra but will be OK. I think planes need to ook at how someone's face doesn't get smashed into the steering wheel (airbag?)! Seeing it's has been a problem since planes were invented I don't know if that would ever happen (not to mention the limitations on timing and where the impact comes from). FullControl - you are right. He has some injuries but he will be OK. Mostly a busted face. He is the toughest of the tough.

  • wooh i'm glad he's okay.he looked hurt but he's just walking on his own.(i'm a huge nascar fan)

  • I am glad to see Mr. Roush walking on his own. I hope he gets well soon. On the other hand it is totally unacceptable that emergency crews didn't immediately provide spinal imobilization and package him on a back board with the visable facial trauma he had. I would hope the airport crash team evaluates their actions and makes the changes needed in the future.

Lack of training is not an acceptable answer in this case.

  • Jack is one tough guy... two plane crashes, survied both of them. He walks out like he's fine, but he wasn't fine at all.Too bad his NASCAR team isn't running well this year. Hopes and prayers to Jack and his family.

  • Thanks to Slingby :) that is precisely what happened - and he would know how fast that cub was going to take off because HE FLIES THAT TOO! He has a yellow piper. I forgot to thank you for your post. You are right on - he was just trying to frankly, avoid the inevitable. Unfortunately the plane's limitations made it crash.

  • This is why a 68 year old should not be flying single pilot in a jet.

  • and mv031161 - I like your post but JR is just as much a professional as any airline pilot. Capt. Sully knew how to save his aircraft in a bad situation and so did JR. Although I wouldn't be opposed to him hiring a co-pilot back up to travel with him! not because of this but just in general. These newer planes take so much control away from the pilot it is a shame - really restricts things like evasive maneuvering. I only wish the tower would have listened to him!

  • If he was not as experienced as he was the plane would have went nose down instead of hitting more on it's belly. These planes have safety shut outs that actually could have made this worse had he not had the awareness he did. I know more about this than anyone here. Slingby called it and if the tower had been with it they should have not lined this up! He knew they had given him a bad call to land after that cub. He got boxed in. Yankee is not too smart. How long have you had a license?

  • damn, good to see no one got killed.

  • Here this will solve the rumors. Go to Avweb.com and type in Jack Roush plane crash. Listen to the first one. Jack is the Premier, He was simply asking if the tower was sure about this and the tower was saying yes.

  • I was there when the plane went down, When i first saw the plane coming torward me in the warbirds doing a left base to final i simply knew he was too low and did not have enough airspeed. Once he turned to final im think he saw the cub that was takinging off slowly, but Jack im supposing tried to slow back to land on the same runway the cub was taking off from. I knew that something was about to happen when I saw the wings rocking and he is low over the taxiway. Hope good recovery Jack.

  • Wow,,,how many idiotic comments from all the experts.. the most ridiculous one about rivet inspections on an aicraft that is is made of carbon fiber.......Nice one!

Mr. Roush...get better soon sir....you are a valuable member of our aviation community! please do get a professional crew to fly or at least a safety pilot!

  • I saw the plane go down. Jack "stalled" the plane 30 to 50 feet above ground and the plane crashed. This is a perfect example of poor flying ability. The plane was nose up, flying barely above stall for some distance, and with no engine power. The right wing dropped (stalled) and the plane went down. He and his passenger are extreemly lucky the plane did not burn. If the plane burned, Jack and Brenda would be a statistic today. The question is: Would you fly with this man? Not me, Thank you!

  • I wish them a speedy recovery.

  • I know exactly where this happened .. I lived in the Oshkosh area for 30 + yrs.

  • Carl Edwards must have been tailing him

  • @oompalee267 Way to make jokes at such a quality time....dick.

  • First off, the media is never correct. Even people close to him don't know what happened yet but please remember these are people with families and be respectful. Jack Roush has as many logged hours and the training of any "professional" and I know his plane gets proper regular maintenance. He values his life a great deal. It did not break on landing, it does appear it stalled on a failed attempt. The tail cracked when the left wing hit the ground after a sudden tip. He did slam into the ground.

  • @colorfulaura This is what the news broadcasts and witnesses are saying too. So I'd have to say you called it correctly. I myself was wondering yesterday, but not any longer...

  • @2222554 Some important info to listen to is the ATC to him - go to avweb.com and it should be the top story with a link to the audio. He is "6JR" and he KNEW the command given by ATC was not correct (my take on it). He was asked to do a flyover too late. Hopefully we will know what happened when JR is up and running again but right now it is hard to say. I will tell you he is great pilot and a man of precision. He got this Beechcraft only a couple years ago and the training was extensive.

  • @colorfulaura Thanks for info...

  • @beastlyTurtle555 - This is not a tail-dragger. A ground loop occurs when the tail of the plane passes the nose. This was not a ground loop. A "ground loop" has nothing to do with a stall. Nevertheless, if he flared too high the plane would have dropped harder than normal. If the weight of the plane, fuel, cargo and passengers exceeded the maximum landing weight, it is possible that a structural failure may have occurred.

  • Come on Jack, Hang up the old license for crying out loud and employ professional pilots for a change. He simply got slow and stalled it on landing, it's called a ground loop.

  • Mr. Roush and his passenger, I hope you recover soon.

  • Come on... A plane breaks in half upon landing? When has the normal act of a plane landing caused a plane to be broken in half before? See the three color stripes on that plane? Barring mechanical failure this looks suspicious to say the least.

  • @2222554 it would probably crack in half if he slammed onto the ground, probably what happened here

  • @mark4life92 Really... Don't recall reading any articles saying he slammed into the ground, just plainly, in more than three articles already, that it 'broke in half upon landing'... Unless the guy had a black out while piloting the vehicle? there should be no reason that a plane could EVER split in half like this plane did... The mechanics won't allow it, the pressures involved on a normal landing won't allow it.

  • I also wonder if any maintenance on rivets had been done recently or some other mechanical work done prior...

  • @2222554 And here come the assumptions from people with no clue what they're talking about.

  • @MrNeedsdecaf We'll see... Time will tell. Even if i am wrong and you're not around i still know when I am wrong, unlike others who just assume their always right even when they have shown to be proven wrong...

  • These two are soldiers. Hard to believe they survived. So happy to hear they'll be ok!

  • wow..... I was there and saw all of the fire trucks heading that way but I hadn't known this happened... Hopefully he makes a full recovery!
