Hi Ron...Yeah, this is REALLY cool! Too bad you couldn't film more, but at least you got this awesome highlight. We sat 5th row July 19th at the GRove .I didn't even try to film it 'cause we were so close. They were really incredible. the best I have seen them since the late 80's or so. THey are really INTO their songs, adding newer dimensions to their jams that they haven't approached for awhile. I hope they stick with this band line-up. , . Again..thanks for posting this/ ..JIM.
This is fucking-Phenomonal!!! I thought I'd find a cool version of my favorite BOC song and decided to check out your 2:09 min version... and I must say,,this kicked my ass!!! Great filming and sound!!! Killer show!!! Did you film the whole show? Thanks for posting this...J.M.
Thanks for the thumbs-up on the video. I did not film the whole show...just one or 2 clips as the venue was very strict & I risked gwetting thrown out!
My favorite boc song in concert. last days is for sure one of the greatest songs in concert in the history of rock and roll. I just love when song justs gets fast, faster and then fastest. I get dizzy every time I see boc in concert.
I am in awe of Buck's playing. To me, this solo and the "On Your Feet" version are not comparable in the sense of one being better. Everything Gurnstein says about the OYF version is true - elegant, moving, heartfelt. This version is those things too, and a display of raw prowess to boot. In short, they are different, but both great.
just seen BOC last month in Peoria IL, buck & eric were great!! they even signed a favorite album of mine, Tyranny & Mutations!!! Red & Black rules!!! check my video out with screaming lead guitar (to bad I never played with the guys in the band before, might have been more tighter.) thanks
Just amazing..as good as when I saw them live in Germany at the 4th summernight concert, with iron maidon, foriegner, black foot, motorhead and kansas...it was an all day concert with the Cult coming on just as the sun was going down and he cam on stage on a harley...it was just sooo sweet. Then saw them again in a small venue in germany (83, once again they just rocked the place!
i really miss the days of Bucks mustache! Buck, if your reading this, please, please, re-grow the mustache, do it for your fans, please buck, please, we miss the mustache!!
and I forgot to say that actually blue oyster cult opened for foghat even though there performance was like an hour and a half long. I saw foghat too, but their bass and drums were too loud and I could hear the guitar but slow ride was awesome.
He's trying too hard here and the solo is too busy by far. His solo on the OYFOOYK, was one of the most elegant, moving solos I've ever heard, because it sounded like every note was felt. If you haven't heard it, seek it out.
When the band does it these days, Buck starts out with the same type of idea...starts slow/melodic then builds into a fury that even Yngwie would envy.
Gurnstein speaks the truth. The version on OYFOOYK is one of the greatest, most touhing electric guitar solos I've ever heard...second to Hendrix' Villanova Junction Blues at Woodstock.
This video is just a small sample of Buck's playing. I've seen him many times and he can make the most complex guitar playing seem easy. You really cannot appreciate his work unless you see him play up-close!
when all the band members got up playing guitars was awesome...the crowd literally freaked! first time i'd seen a place go crazy like that haha!

Yes, this is true...Buck came on stage at the end of the show...he's friends with all the guys; they play alot together.
RockNRollerRon 3 years ago
That is funny because I saw them in NY some years ago and Foghat actually opened for BOC.
Pelcoid 3 years ago
I pretty sure most people won't belive me but i REALLY was there at that exact concert. I live in bergen county.
