i would like to draw attention to the last 17 s. of the video, those are not thermite charges, they are linear shaped demolition charges. those kinds of charges leave no slag only craters and holes. This video is misleading and quite stupid. People will argue that plasma/oxyacetylene cutters don't leave that kind of residue. I am not an expert but i have never seen someone try to cut a structural column with a hand sized torch, probably because that isn't how you are supposed to use them.

Also any pictures I have seen of cleanup or stored material whether on a trailer or on the ground don't have cuts like this.

those were very clearly cut with a cutting torch or lance, look at the texture, as if it were sawed. and duh they were cut after the colapse. shaped charges would bend the steel, and you'd have to have a pretty precice thermite cutting charge to do a clean job like that. if the other part of the beam were to slide off after being cut, why are there no bends, or scratches? the plane brought the building down, dont pick the story to pieces...

Dont think that when the buildings collapsed it didnt have enough force to bend a few pieces backward? Similiar to when you bend a small metal tube a bunch it gets very hot right at the bend. Try a clothes hanger. You can get it hot enough to burn you. Did you use an external heating source like fire? No. You simply used power to overcome the strength of metal and friction heated it. Same thing with the horseshoe bends. Just on a much larger scale.

Search YouTube for "Linear thermite" and watch what is really a thermATE device cutting a steel rebar. Yes, it's a small rebar, but it's also a small device. Keep in mind the difference between thermITE and thermATE. The -ATE on the end derives from nitrate, but the critical ingredient is sulfur. My working hypothesis is that the thermate was inside the box columns.
I am trying to find an emission spectrum of thermite and thermate from the same spectrometer; if you find it, let me know!

Sorry, I am just not making my point clearly.
Sulfur plasma is unusual. Two sulfur atoms together act as one; the share electrons. Thus, sulfur becomes a plasma at lower temperatures than other elements. That is why sulfur plasma lamps can exist. That is why sulfur added to thermite enhances its ability to cut steel.
Anyone interested should ignite identical samples of thermite with and without 3% sulfur. The difference is striking.
