Traditionally the mindset is that a kick is faster and more powerful if it does not go above the waitline. High kicks, high spin kicks, etc. to the head can be stopped with a simple forward kick. The Wing Chun kicks are sighted mostly on the knees, carrying the idea that a snapped kneecap will render an opponent helpless quicker than high kicks that may or may not strike the head.

I have read that there is a very secret martial art where you do not even have to touch your opponent to beat them. It is called drowlie and was developed in china. All you need to do is chant a secret chant 3 times and your opponent is down. It works for men, women, children and even new born babies. Forget bruce lee and kung fu. Try Drowlie if you can find it.

The general opinion of Wing Chun people from the Yip Man lineage is that he is mainly self taught. They see his Chi Sao as being too basic and in some cases just plain wrong to be the product of a recognnised WC sifu.

He does other arts though so may have had decent teachers in those styles.
