  • The Music is A Slight Delay from the Animusic soundtrack CD.

  • what that song?

  • Kool HV !

  • @TheBigMagicalUnicorn Yes. $3K = $3,000 USD

  • wee yu buy?

  • @coolskatedood I bought this one secondhand. The only person who can make this particular plasma image that I know is Bill Parker (William P. Parker) the original artist, who lives in Waitsfield, Vermont, USA. If you look him up using Directory Information he could arrange to make one for you. The current new price is around $3K USD. I have seen similar (but not as sharply-defined pink and green plasma globes made by Wayne Strattman with Strattman-dot-com.

  • @StandingWulf do you know what gas makes green plasma? im really up for making sum cool steampunk contraption with green plasma

  • @solaninshadows I have made a pale green plasma from a very tricky mix of three ingredients, but it's very vulnerable to any contamination. (It's hard to keep the color from fading) I do not have a stable formula I can recommend or share at this time. Bright green plasma has been known to be problematic for experienced professionals to make. Wayne Strattman with Strattman Design in Boston might be able to help you.

  • @StandingWulf what three gases? do u have a link to how to evacuate atmospheric gas n then inject gas? sounds tricky to start with haha

  • @solaninshadows There are no step-by-step instructions how to empty and fill a plasma globe online that I know of, and for reasons of legal liability I will not post that kind of information. The procedure is hazardous even when done right. The equipment and materials I use to do this cost me over two thousand dollars. I have used mostly neon, a few percent xenon, and a trace of iodine vapor to get a green color that was not stable.

  • @chrysanthos66 There is no sensation and it is safe to handle a large globe like this because it operates at an AC frequency too high for your nervous system to notice. The only problem is if you handle a large energized globe AND try to reach for a grounded object like a sink faucet or a metal radiator with another hand--this produces a small RF arc that can cause a pinprick skin burn that feels like touching the tip of a hot soldering iron.

  • plasma or tesla....

  • @upsycotube Inside the globe is low temperature plasma energized with high frequency electricity within the same frequency range used by Nikola Tesla (20-100kHz) in many of his public demonstrations so the human nervous system cannot respond to the current and there is no sensation from the electricity.

  • where can i buy it?

  • @jophoper This item was sold out in 1985. Wayne Strattman with Strattman Design in Boston could probably make a similar globe. The original artist, Bill Parker in Stamford, CT could make another Elegance of Becoming, but it would be expensive. This is a museum or collector's grade item, not like the cheap ones you see in gift shops.

  • Lmao what kind of question is that Plasma is in a Plasma ball...

  • Of course it is! Why else would it be called a Plasma Ball?

  • depends on what kind of plasma you're talking about.

  • Yeah. That's true!

  • it's probably plasma for a split second but the energy is emediately transfered to the glass.

  • what gases are in the plasma ball

  • The Bill Parker green plasma globes are made with proprietary gas mixtures that have been kept secret. I have made experimental globes using mostly neon and a few percent xenon plus a trace amount of a third ingredient that have a similar pattern but a weaker green color.

  • leme guess. the secret ingrediant is krypton

  • I don't know what Parker's secret ingredient is in the bright green globes, but it doesn't appear to be krypton. I have seen krypton-xenon globes show a grass green color , but not the intense emerald green seen above.

  • yea. but there probobly is some krypton in there i would think.

  • you know krypton and xenon can show any kind of green or even blue and white. it all depends on the pressure of the gases

  • I have added a bit of xenon to a pure krypton globe to get white, green and blue color zones in the tendrils with a blue-green core. But, starting with a mix that is mostly neon (for the red/pink core) plus a small amount of xenon once I added krypton I got a globe that was red, white and blue with no green areas. The green color never showed up in a mix containing neon as the krypton was added. The only sample that came close to the red+blue+green globe was 98% neon+2% xenon plus iodine

  • Yeah I'll say!

  • I want one now! Ive got one but that one would be sweet too!

  • Plasma globes in the online exhibit are not for sale.

  • SON OF A *****! ok thanks for telling me. I'll have to look somewhere else.

  • Does that shock you?

  • Nope. The globe runs on a high frequency AC current above 20 kHz (very low frequency radio)so the human nervous system cannot feel it. ( If you have one hand on the ball and someone else touches your skin or you touch a grounded metal object you can get a momentary annoying spark.)

  • if you touch the electrode post you get a nasty surprise though
