I wouldn't say the guy in the original clip is necessarily lucky. He was pretty fast and actually sped up in response to the things coming at him, and the bus and car were only going 20 miles an hour or so, so if the bus had been any earlier in coming he might have been able to stop before he got there or turned around and gone back the other way or maybe even jumped onto the car if necessary.
