  • breathtaking! One of the place that you just HAVE TO see!:)

  • i wish i can go there.;;''

  • I wish Roman empire never cease to exist, so I won't witness occupation of these jewish semitic bastards mungling around looking for sympathy

  • amazing structure. great video.

  • beautifulol even though italy or well the romans were enemies of my country (portugal) for awhile i just cant lie i really love their nature beauties and buildings

  • It's true, western civilisation as we know it would never exist without the Romans. Never mind the Egyptians, or even the Greeks (Hey, you can strap a wheel to a wooden plank to make a go-kart, but its not the same as inventing the car right?) There's a reason the American government calls itself the 'senate' :)

  • @1993DaVinci Western civilization would never exist without China as well. Lets not forget the invention of the compass and the gunpowder. Without the compass, the West wouldn't be able to travel on sea. Without gunpowder... well this one is obvious.

  • What is that inside the colesseum, like some walls? Was it empety before? How did the gladiators fight?

  • @hare050 the colosseum was like a modern day football field and they would get christians and other religions and feed them to the lions. the gladiators was a different story. it is round inside with something like bleachers. hope this answered your question :)

  • @peppypanpan39 Yea but there r like some stones now in the center of the colosseum. Was that there from the begining or did they put it later on?

  • @hare050 those stones was a maze of rooms and corridors where wild animals and men who was going to fight where being held. And originally 'the fighting area' has been on top of those stones.

  • @hare050 had dungeons too, kept everything from Gladiators to lions. One time they filled it up with water and had a sea battle

  • @hare050 the romans watched fights like modern people watch fotball. There where lions vs tiger. Man vs man. Man vs tiger. And even naval battles where they filled the whole floor with water

  • JEWS BUILT THE COLLOSEUM ...ha ha

  • why

  • i wish i lived in this time

  • ApreaTours Rome Visit Rome with us!

  • ITALY is the CREATOR and BIRTH of Western Civilization. VIVA ITALIA!!!!!!!.

  • @draziom902 actually greece is considered the creator of western civilization .

  • @davazno1 HEHEHEHEHE Nice joke man, best one ive heard all day

  • I came here to see how much it had change from AC Brotherhood :) LOL

  • Thumb up if you watch this because of the awesome recreation of the Colosseum in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood!

  • Where's is Ezio Auditore ???????????????????????

  • @eljugadorloco fuck you nerd

  • @eljugadorloco The story of Ezio, is set in 1500. The Colosseum was built in 80, and is used until 440. During 1500, the Coliseum wasn't very important for the habitants of Rome. You should study more history, and play less videogames! F***ing ignorance and stereotypes! ahahahah

  • @viperconcept dude! it is build in 72. dont be stupid. :D

  • @NothingFilmworks The construction began in 72 and was finished 8 years after: in 80. So i'm right! ;-P

  • @viperconcept Oh =-)

  • @viperconcept You'd be more convincing if all your dates weren't wrong.

  • @pinksalamanders If you think i'm mistaking, so email me your sources about dates of construction of colosseum. I'm curious to know! ;-)

  • @eljugadorloco NERD!

  • Just another amazing fact its still called "colosseum" instead of Flavianus Amphitheatre its supposed to be.

  • @mheicknin Actually the roman colosseum was renamed such because of a 30 meter bronze statue of the Emprire Nero.

  • Another amazing fact: sometimes they would fill the Colosseum with water and have ship battles for audiences to watch. This is slightly disturbing, thinking about watching people die for your entertainment! But back then it was considered a sport. How great it would be to see this building in full use in its time.

  • @Santeria231 There were only water battles for two years until the hypogeum was built

  • 0.01

  • Question, Why can't they rebuild it using the same materials? imagine what it would look like the old and new parts and a complete structure just like it was 2000 years ago ....I say rebulid it

  • @mrrice69 cause the antiquity of a monument must be conserved. It's possible only to make a restructuring for conserving the parts wich needs it not for rebuilding all the structure. The antiuity must to stay ancient without any new structure.

  • The dark long haired guy is hot. Orgasm!!

  • Rome is the most beautiful city in the world ..... an open-air museum with millennia of history, ull of infinite beauty like no other city in the world!

  • Arches are extremely strong, because when weight is placed on top of it it is evenly distributed throught the entire arch. That means each bit of the arch is supporting the smallest amount of weight possible evenly. Other shapes do not distribute the wight like this.

  • Roma Victoria Est....Salve Caesar.

  • wow, kudos to the guy who designed that building back in the day,its still standing today.evidently, that guy knew what he was doing.i wonder what they paid that guy?? i dunno, but if that guy signed some kind of "royalties" or longevity clause, than whatever financial institution is the unfortunate yahoos that the original records were passed onto thru the centuries had better hope that his relatives long ago lost track or just forgot 'cause somebody would have some ridiculous cash right now!

  • This is what I love in you tube. i can jump from Rio De Janeiro to Athens and now in Rome.. :-)

  • The Roman Empire was so amazing~! :D

  • "A trick or two up their Togas"

    :P

  • What makes me laugh today is that people say it's impossible to make this, yet these guys did it WITH NOTHING!! . No health and safety crap! They just went on to do it and it's now still standing after hundreds of years!! Now that's when the Human Race was worth it's existance.

  • Roman Architectures Greatest Work

  • why si their a huge whole ontop? wasnt the colusseum a perfect circle? or was it war that destroyed

  • the earthquake destroyed not the war

  • nope not that either when it was closed people that lived around it started taking it apart to build other buildings and sell the block for money and stuff..

  • thank u for helping me do my homework : )

  • i know right homework half done now

did yuo see any new buildings in rome younger than 2999years?

  • having seen this place in reallifelast november makes me think.......the Greeks can shove the Parthenon up their ass.

  • Such an amazing structure. The Colosseum was way ahead of it's time.

  • @CityStaticX disagree, i think it was built at its right time, its just after Rome's collapse, Europe went backwards in its technological advancement. left by the romans

  • @CityStaticX i don't think it was. Just the ressources was at the right place, but the human imagination of building it sure has always been there.

  • thats id fucking bulshiet is nothing i think

  • I went in 2005. Took at tour inside the Coliseum. I was in complete awe. This is an unbelievable site. At night, it is even more spectacular.

  • wow

  • im doing a research on roman architecture

  • i am doing this for a reasherich report

  • did they have half time shows?

  • What is a reasherich report?

  • Why does it look like cannonballs blasted through almost all of the arches?

  • because the scaffolding used at that time to build it was put into those holes so the couldd build the scafolding higher and sturdier

  • The pox marks you see in the facade were done during the Middle Ages. The stones of the Colosseum were fasten together with iron brackets. The brackets were blasted out of the stone with sulfur and the iron was melted so it could be reused in other building projects. Today, nothing holds the stones in place except for gravity and excellent design.

  • amazing

  • can you please give me the Author, Director, Publisher, and Publication year of this vid?

its for my school research project.

  • cleverly done.

  • i've always wondered how it actually got damaged like it did

  • well the colosseum is half broken because i was searching about colosseums and it said that there was an earthquake. so yeah. but who knows what really happened so yeah.

  • It is such a ruin in part because of several earthquakes in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. Part of the outer wall collapsed as a result of one in the 3rd century. However the main reason why its such a ruin is a result of pillaging from the 5th century onwards. The Empire collapsed in the 5th century and the church asserted its power spelling the end of the Colloseum. Rome was sacked in the 5th century and as the arena was no longer used for big events ppl began to quarry it to rebuild the city.

  • who actually sacked rome?

  • It was sacked by the Visigoths in 410AD and the Colloseum sustained some damage at the time. Over the years it was used as a fortress, market place, monestry and dumping ground until the Pope stopped the destruction in the mid 1700's.

  • thank you i had no real idea about it's history so thanks for telling me

  • Glad to be of help. I visited Rome in 2004 and went to the Colloseum. Did you know the Nazis used it to store weapons when they occupied Italy in 1944?

  • i didnt know but it does sound like soemthing they would do... was it converted for all these different uses?

  • I am unsure if it was altered substantially for each particular use. However I do know that the arena floor was used as a market place at one time and a road to the streets outside was built through part of the seating.

  • aww poor Colosseum lol (i get sad over things for no reason)

  • Sure, there was real skill & much ingenuity in building this. Yet, we can't imagine what took place later in it!

It's amazing how a culture so rich & blessed, could be so barbaric.

  • Construction Of Large Operas Similar Stratification Era Under Museum

  • When you look at pictures of the Colosseum today, you see large structures in the middle where the gladiators used to fight. Does anyone know what they were for or when they were built?
