I had that happen!!! I was walking home from school and a guy said that his fraternity was collecting money to donate magazines to kids in hospitals. At the time I thought it all looked legit, but now I know that I was scammed out of $140. Lesson learned.
I've had people ask me for money like that. The worst part is that I am a very polite person, and I feel bad telling people I have to go when they ask me for things.
You do have a nice voice, by the way! That's what I first thought when I watched your vegetarian video. :)
i was at the mall one time with my friend and this guy was like "do you believe in heaven?" no wonder he looked suspucious. then he proceeded to talk about faith. i drew the line and i said "sorry we're catholic." and proceedeing to run to anothe store. the guy kept staring at us.it felt realll creepy.
haha the way you told the story i thought they were going to try to hurt you or something! something like that happened to me before but it was a bunch of people trying to get me to buy things from their store..i told them i had no money on me haha
Haha, I thought they were trying to pick you up, for like a date or something.
Because those lines are what an attracted person would say to a target.
Similar case though.
I've had some cases like this in the US, Chicago area, but they were mostly religious folks trying to "save me from hell" and get me to join their group.
Not bashing any religions here, but it can get very annoying.
Glad that you weren't hurt in any way though Hyunwoo.
Yeah I think if this happened to me abroad, I'd be a little scared or caught off guard the way you were. I'm from New York, so we do get that a lot here. I'm pretty open to random conversation, it seems. But if I get bad vibes from people, then I tend to shy away.
That's a very twisted behavior... These people seem to have no respect for others.
ever4one, if I may, don't be too kind with people who treat you like this, making you lose your time and manipulating you to get what they want from you.
I may be a bit extreme, but I think they do not deserve much respect for doing this.
hey I have these encounters a lot in new york city.. i see these unknow originazation who ask for money.. butthen ask other things.. dont wirrie it happens everywhere hyunwoo
Oh and by "such an experience" I do NOT mean the experience those women gave you. Lol wtf am I saying? I just mean, I freaked a random guy out....pretty randomly. xD
I haven't HAD such an experience. More like I gave a random person only a few weeks ago such an experience. I'll never forget what I did. So out of character, o.O
We have that a lot in San francisco. before it was Jahova's witness ( type of church) ppl would actually go door to door at like 5 am and try to convert you and ask for money. and before it was (generally speaking african american people, but then it spread so it could be any nationality) Highly annoying. theyd do this many times per house.
also more recent in russian community, there is a group i think it is also a church they give you free bibles and try to make you "believe" and they appraoch you and start regular conversation but you can notice this thirst in their eyes to collect. lol. its damn near impossible to get rid of them. mm we also have tons of donation pleaders ppl stand along rows of streets at all corners and dont let you pass till they ask you and tell you about their cause. = =;
first time not korean people but a couple of americans, they offered to help me because i was lost and trying to find the bus terminal in cheonan city, they asked some random questions about what i'm doing in korea, where i am from, and i just answered their questions because i usually tend not to be suspicious and then when i wanted to get in my bus they just landed me a small book, then i release what was going on, just thanked and sayed that i had already a religion!
happened to me, too Hyunwoo but as my Korean isn't native, it took a while to figure out what was going on... I felt really embarrassed to be talking to them as long as I did before I figured it out. I'm, sure most of the passerbys thought I was a suck a sucker for talking to them. ^^
Yes. I don't mind weird people in my country (canada) asking random things.. but when some Korean Christian corners you and says, "I feel destiny with you. Do you believe in fate? You give me good energy." Then... I am scared. Especially since I was minding my own business with my music blaring in my head phones (Noticeable Black HEAD phones)
I don't like religious people that force religion on other people.
I once was coming home from UC Berkely, I live in Sacramento, and I was taking the amtrak (train) home. It's about a 2 hour train ride. But anyways, this, random こくじん came up to me at the train station and started talking to me. I had to wait 45mins for my train to come so he started off talking about music. I had my viola with me, so he saw that I was carrying an instrument. So he started asking me questions about instruments and classical music.
As the conversation went on, he asked me if I was a Christian, which I am, so I said yes I am. He then paused and said. I know why I met you today, I met you today because I was destined to bless you. God wanted us to meet. He wants us to pray together, he wants me to help you pray for your wealth. If you take out a bill any value, $1, $5, $20 and hold it in your hand and we'll pray. I then told him I had no cash on me at the moment and that unfortunately I wouldn't be able to.
I felt bad for lying, but I knew he wanted me to give him that money. He asked me to pray for my wealth with him. It was awkward, but I prayed for his health, and that he would be blessed instead. He then told me since God had ordained us meeting, that he would give me his address and that every time I made 10% of whatever I made. Thankfully my train came, and I got on, and threw away the paper. It was really scary, and I wish I had cut the conversation short instead of talking to him for 30mins
A friend of mine was in the emergency room with both his daughter and wife in intensive care and a man who he recognize as someone he knew asked him how he was doing and he was sorry for his wife and child then he proceeded to tell him, In this situations you need money how about and investing with me you only need this amount of money to start. My friend was standing there with mouth open in total shock. It was a pyramid scheme that the guy had tried to sell him. What a jerk that guy.
i'm from Perth, Australia...hmm i can name several funny experiences..
i was looking at DVDs with my brother at the mall when a random group of boys came up to me and went ASIAN PRIDE!! ..bowed and then walked away..
I was with my friend waiting for her train ride back home...and 2 girls that were very very high just started to talk to us...they asked for our names and what we did AND! one sat on my lap!! I HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO! ..so i waited til she got off -_- ..but they werent mean
i imagined you running away. like RUNNING. lol. im glad you're safe now :)
would they take you to a dark alley and have gangsters take your money? that's scary considering that i would imagine elders being innocent and all, but they were once youngsters too. i guess you cant really trust anybody old or young.
how scary!!! i would act mute and ignore people. eek!!!
i guy that lived in the same neighborhood as me came up to me at the mall and didn't reconize me so he asked me if i wanted to do a modeling job but i had to pay for the picture fees until they went to a "profesional" company. and i know that his company is for Adult entertainment. so i glady greeted him as my neighbor then called him a pervert.
I had a similar experience. First time was when i was going home from school, a strange man just suddenly approached to me =0 and asked "how are you? what is your name? do you have some time?" At first, I thought he needed some help with something.. but then he kept coming on to me--too close Dx.. i just ran away...
From everything that my boyfriend has told me to watch out for, I understand that sentence coming from a guy to a girl as usually intention of going out for a date and getting closer--not always so innocent. I never trusted any Korean guy who actually asked me that. XD
Omg, if people came up to me and started leading me to random places, I'd be freaked out O_o I'd think they were trying to mug me or something Dx
