i think the idea is for most of the songs to sound somewhat similar. all the songs on the album seem to fit cohesively together with one unified central idea, but each song still has a slightly different tone to it. I love the way all the songs lead seamlessy into the next. rather than writing a bunch of songs independent of each other and sticking them randomly on one disc, they actually wrote each song to compliment the whole album. this is a monster of an album and easily my favourite of 2011
@ChuckSchuldinerRIP0 I started listening to the You Tube mix at 09.00 hour , and finished listening to it at 23.00 hours. The songs are etched inside my brain now.
(As a drummer i am afraid i will never be able to reproduce some songs tho`........... i suck. Big time.
i thought certain songs sounded too similar at first as well but the more and more i listen to this album the songs stand apart further and further as their own...excellent band and album!
So waht you guys think of the album in overall? I think the drumspeed is the main source on the whole album. The songs remind a liitle too much about eachother, otherwise a solid album.
@Reak55 yeah, it sounds more like one giant song as opposed to individual, distinct tracks that stand on their own. perhaps this was the artist's intention? it sounds good, but i'd like a bit more variety.
@TheHuntress144 I think that their intention was precisely that, making an opera continuous. After The Violation the songs are almost all distinct. I also at first listen found it hard to distinguish the first 3-4 tracks, and I think the main problem are the guitars too modest than drums and orchestra, and this makes it more difficult to differentiate the songs. I could only listen in the car because I broke the stereo, so it's an opinion that can change. 8,5/10
@Reak55 well its ok. Nice production. Smashing double pedals. Guitar riffs are mainly focused on fast right hand rhytms following the drums like a bass. As a guitar nerd, im more into some lead going over that. Sounds equal alot of the way, but that might be a force as well. Epic orchestral sound too it. Reminds me of about 12 years ago, when i was digging a bit of the symphonic bm scene. il give it a solid thumbs up. Similar sound on tracks, but i dont get bored by it.

did you notice that the end of this song is the intro for "the violation"??? :D

@ScorpionCore
Its not really the intro, its only in the video, when you buy the CD there are like 3-4 songs that go together at the end when the next song comes on

@ScorpionCore I believe the entire album works that way, each song seamlessly leading into the next.
