  • Why does everybody who uses the G-system sound like some mid 90 sports guitarist. Where area all the cool players with attitude?

  • @Internetpolice666 well, Steve Vai uses G-System ;)

  • @stebbZv You can make them sound fresh and cool too though. I know I have one...and it doesn't sound like this at all.

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT TONE

  • Hi! I've nk4 + g-system and I splited on 4 cable method,

G-system generate big noise, did you have any problem just like me?

Could help me , where is a problem?

    thanks

    Primer

  • Was the G string in the loop, front of G system or both?

  • +1 on what are you playing at 0:40? Really diggin the progression!

  • what are you playing at 0:40?

  • Hey man, do you mind sharing your mark iv settings before you engaged your G System scooped sound? I think it is around the 7:10 mark. I really like that tone a lot more than the scooped sound

  • Hey! we have the same guitar rig!!!!! :-D

  • Just in case you didn't know, the latest firmware update 4.02 fixes the EQ changes. From the release notes 'EQ settings do not apply immediately at preset change (TT 280) - fixed'

  • Can it switch all three channels of a three channel amp or just between two?

  • agreed nice tone and setup man! love it. how abt getting urself a mic stand lol! but i like the way u did this vid, on the floor man! really cool!

  • Great tone! Could you tell me whether you used G-string in Mark IV's effects loop or in front of the amp? Thanks!

  • nice setup man, u got the shur gtr, the messa, the g string, and it looks like u got a few racks/processors in the back, and the g-system!

how is the shur by the way? is it really a good gtr?

  • @mrevolutions23 Thanks man. No shur here. It's an ANDERSON HOLLOW DROP TOP. Great guitar and Tom is a Super great guy. He and Shur are friends, however. Just the G and some pedals in a rack. Just got done giging with it. Loved every second, once again!

  • @sus4add13 I know Tom well, my uncle works at the shop doing the staining and glossing. Toms a great man who makes great guitars! Nice set up as well!

  • f'*** cool! rig and playing!

  • OMG you stole my guitar!!! :D Seriously, our axes are twins. Only the top is slightly different. Where are you from? :)

  • hi, this video is great.

    your style too for sure.

would you please explain me what a R2 is?

  • @daronzio Thanks! R2 refers to the 2nd channel of the Mark IV amp. It stands for Rhythm 2. This can be anything from a 2nd clean channel to a lightly distorted channel to a crunchy rhythm channel.

  • wow maaaaaaaaan nice sound & it's only uTube ;)

    nice equip

  • really great sound and your playing is great too

  • This Amp is now for sale on ebay. I've replaced it with a rackmount version of the Mark IV. I"ll do a new video on that soon. Search for it! You'll see my links to these video's.

    THANKS!

  • To fix the EQ issue it is very simple. Don't use the relay switching. Buy yourself an AmpGizmo to do the switching . You use the pedals on the G System to change channels. You can preselect which channel on the amp goes with each preset. Very easy to do. Set up is like 10 minutes.

  • Of course. But that is over $200 just to be able to switch EQ in and out. I told myself that when I missed it, I'd buy the amp gizmo. it's been a almost a year and over 100 gigs, haven't missed it enough yet. The Amp Gizmo is a great unit!

  • Man you have sweet fucking licks to play!..... how long have you been playing etc...how do you learn? =) Thanks.

  • wooow this is sweet, i didnt really watch part 1 or 3 i was just brought to this video at random and i really enjoy the tones and playing

    amazing

  • Great tone, and great playing. You make the amp sing!

    Lucas

  • how would u stack this up to say, a boss gt10?

  • On a scale 1 - 10 how useful and good is the G-System?

  • what's the name of the song that you played at 0:22 ?

  • very niice

  • hey when the pedals in the loop are bypassed are they completely bypassed do you know?

    like true bypass

  • Better than true bypass! when loop is off, it is TOTALLY BYPASSED. no signal thru whatsoever.

  • Heey maan, such an awesome setup its unreal xD This is definately the best video ive seen on the g-system :) you have some awesome tones :) I am very interested in a g system, do you think its alot better than some of tc's other rack units? is there anyway you can avoid messy cables in the back of the system? ide like to see more vids from you man, that would be great :)

  • Hi mate, great sounds! I was wondering the difference between the G system noise gate and the decimator, dont they do the same job? Ive got a mk iv myself and i get a lot of background noise eventhough I have new tubes on, do u get it too?

  • The cascading gain stages that boogie uses in the mark series does create massive gain with noise! The more treble you have dialed in, the noisier it will be.

The Decimator, placed correctly, will get rid of all the noise. Their vector timing thing reacts much better than a regular noise gate. I never hear it working. I haven't used the noise gate in the G system because I had the Decimator already. The "G-String" version is much better at tracking than the original.

    THANKS!

  • Hi, after some advice, have a similar setup and was wondering what relay settings you use on the g system, have cabled the same as yourself but am struggling with finding the correct relay for each of the channels, for example I'm not sure if the eq is on even though switched on at the rear, any help would be appreciated, cheers chris

  • For Relay Settings, just hook everything up, go into edit mode, get into RELAY by hitting enter, then turn 3rd and 4th encoder for A and B. Remember, you can have 2 channels for each patch. You can switch between them using the 5th button on top.

Also, the EQ CANNOT be turned on or off with the G system. For that, you would need an Amp Gizmo. You can turn on the EQ with the manual button and then set the EQ how you want, but it will be on all of the time.

    Hope this helps!

  • Sounds really great, my favourite was the clean sound.

Got any tabs for that first part?

  • my fav part 5:18

    Nice video, and great tone!

  • What pleasant drive sounds!

  • Really good to see and hear your set up, enjoyed watching your video! Nice playing too.

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • i remember years ago i had a guitar teacher who had about 7 tom anderson guitars. great great great guitars. anyway, nice video.

  • Im considering getting the rme fireface 400 and a shure sm7b. do those firefaces hold up well?

  • I love my Fireface 800. I bought it to replace my MOTU 828 and not only was it a HUGE step up, but I found at least 10 other ways to incorporate it into other setups for my mobile recording studio. GREAT UNITS!!!!!! SM7 is great as well. Best voice over mic for the money. Sounds pretty good on Guitar as well!!!!

  • Hello..I have a G-system that I run with a Peavey JSX.and I have problems with noise. I have a Decimator pedal (the original), but it's not as effective as yours! Do you run it in one of the loops of the g-system???

  • No, the Decimator is NOT in a loop. If you watch my 1st video, at the end you will see a diagram of my cabling system. In order for the decimator to be most effective, it needs to be interrupting the pre-amp signal. Now, with the G-string, i have a guitar in/out, this is what turns the Decimator on and off, and a Decimator out, this is what actually quiet's the pre amp. If you have a normal Decimator, try it in between the G system and your amp.

  • Hey, thanks so much for the advice. I'm sorry, but I'm not that technical at all :-(

I've got my rig set up with the 4 cable system.

Should I stick the Decimator in the line that comes from the "effects send" in the back of the amp, or the "effects return".

I guess I can try both when I'm rehearsing next, but your help and advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Yea, I know what you mean. Took lots of research to figure it all out!!! From Your INSERT RETURN go into your decimator in and from your decimator out go in to your EX SEND. Mess with the level to get the perfect blend of sustain and noise reduction.

  • how do you switch the channels on your mesa?

  • I use the 2 relay switches on the G system. I use 2 stereo male 1/4 plug going to 2 mono cables. You can see these in my 1st video. Once you hook up the cables, you can scroll through the relay setting inside of each patch to set not 1 BUT 2 channels per patch!!
