When you write an original composition, do you normally sit down with something in mind or just improv and build it from phrases and such? Also when tracking the song, do you lay down a basic scratch track of piano or something and then build the parts on top of it?
@1967mdavis I don't really have something in mind - I just improvise until I find some chord progressions that "sound cool" and go from there. I started this tune with the chord changes, laying down the acoustic guitar part, and then the bass and drums. The idea was to create something I could play piano, organ, and synth leads along with.
Yeah! That was really cool. The guitar sequencing sounds like real guitar too - very nicely done. My favorite thing about your video is watching you adjust the controls and use the mod and pitch wheels on the LP to really play the instrument.
Thank you for posting that! We need more people posting originals that integrate both analog & digital hardware and software, and you did it superbly! I especially liked the Moog lead solo followed by the piano solo (2:49 - 3:40). I can't wait to see what else you perform in the future. :)
Brilliant!!!

Fantastic. Really reminds me of Dave Grusin in places.
