  • Why is it that White Stripes is the only band that the lower quality you listen to it the better it sounds?

  • I feel like there's an ongoing debate over the White Stripes for every video I watch, I CAN'T ESCAPE IT!

  • Meg is a virtuoso on the drums, but it seems nobody can see it except jack and the fans

  • @dV4l1b Se is not a virtuoso, just stop it. Being a fan of the Stripes doesn't mean you have to be an idiot.

  • @Ylviste for me a virtuoso is not a person how is perfect at something, it's someone who know how to express his feelings. you can play the hardest things on the guitar but real virtouso could express his feelings with the simplest things or sometimes even with nothing, like John Cage.

  • @dV4l1b Do you have your own definition for the word "dog" as well? A virtuoso strictly implies that a person possesses remarkable technical ability, it is not a term that is up for interpretation. And Meg is no virtuoso. I agree that she fits with the Stripes perfectly and no one else probably would, but she is no virtuoso. And stop it with John Cage showing immense feeling when he "wrote" 4'33''. He was making a joke, a joke on all those who took it seriously.

  • IT'S LIKE A MANSION!!!!!!

  • GOD WHY IS ALL REAL MUSIC DYING????? R.I.P. THE WHITE STRIPES :(

  • @inurfacez10 the white stripes will never die :)

  • @ryumishima44 Amen 2 tht.

  • Meg Rules. Sorry about your penis...

  • dude i'm tired of going to Stripes videos and hearing people bash on meg and her drumming. No one gives a fuck how amazing it sounds to you when you bang the skins in your moms basement hoss. They sound amazing, no one gives a shit what you think. Great music doesn't require the exact same rhythm every time it's played. You people are ridiculous. KILL YO SELF

  • Everybody who thinks Meg's a shitty drummer needs to go watch the Charlie Rose Interview. Now. Please spread the word.

  • @yeahnahsweetas AHAHAHAAHAHAHA nice

  • yeah, Meg is just simple....and there is nothing wrong with that.

  • All the professional percussionists I know say simple and precise is not only difficult, it is the best kind of percussion. Is all the excess of Keith Moon,Geddy Lee, and endless, Ina-gadda-davida drumming really necessary or desireable?

  • one thing about jack, he can't sing live while playing well. that's why i write a lot of short vocal lyrics... but he's still awesome.

  • @ACRedsCreations you can just use a loop instead of playing and then just get back in with the chorus

  • @PatriotGuy91 true, but the energy of my strumming takes my breath easy. also, i tried just fronting and soloing with my music flowing, didn't have best results.

  • If Meg could play the drums like the ghost of Cozy Powell then would she actually play the drums any different to how she does for the White Strips? Its all in time, she's tight with Jack and its minimalistic. What exactly is wrong with it to make her a shit drummer?

  • i love meg !

  • does meg ever try to perceive herself as some sort of great drummer ? they just work well don't they ? although i have no musical ability whatsoever , i appreciate when anyone just makes it work

  • Jack is obviously the musician here. Meg is more than capable of holding her own within the context of the White Stripes. I think her drumming works very well for the band. Jack is doing complex amazing guitar pieces and Meg is keeping the back beat simple and allowing him to go crazy. She is more of a key than he is in this band.

  • Meg is neither a brilliant nor an awesome drummer.

What she plays is very basic, that anyone could play it.

HOWEVER, I LOVE That about her.

It creates a simplicity that makes The White Stripes amazing.

She isn't a great musician and, if she was, something would be missing from the band.

  • Yeah i have to agree with bigbigsound and onkruidt.

Meg's drumming is perfect, is simple, and makes the music more enjoyable.

It's a good mix with Jacks fucking awesome voice and guitar licks.

  • Love this song!!!!! he only plays the riff here not even half the song..

  • camera is bad.

  • i just love the raw, jammin, simplicity of their music

  • Is your vid cut off or do they keep going on the song? I've seen WS nine times live and they never once played this one in the States thanks-

  • I envy you iammready. 9 times? And from what I've heard they only played this live a few times.

  • shaebugs are you serious right now??? Jack White is one of the Greatest guitarists of our time and you think he should suck cocks? Wow

  • Listen to ball and biscuit. It has an amzing solo.

  • an amazing solo? try 3

  • now you know what your talking about ;)

  • LOOK at Me i can talk shit on youtube... Has anyone seen my life

  • seriously the version on the cd is better WAAAAAAYY better they talk in the bigining and it kinda funny if you havent heard it you should.

  • He's like a axe god, and she's drums like she's still in a basic garage band, it puts the color in the white stripes.

  • Serious?? Meg is a giant! and you should know that----

She was (and still may be) a PERFECT FIT!!!!!!!!!

  • why does it matter if she's not a virtuoso on the drums.. she gets done what needs to be done and she's damn good at it too..

  • did you really have to use the word virtuoso?

  • yeah, i'm afraid that's all i could come up with.. it sounds like crap but it summed up what i wanted to say.. my english is rather rusty these days..

  • haha I just had to give ya a hard time. For some reason everyone these days think they know everything with the "internet" at their finger tips. I for one didn't even know that word, but thanks to the internet, I was able to make you explain yourself lol =P.

  • @onkruidt If Jack wanted a virtuoso on drums he's have no problem finding somebody. This is what he wanted though for the White Stripes.

  • PEDALS, PEOPLE! PEDALS!

  • can i just add a touch of reality to this discussion, meg's drumming is god awfull, I can appreciate u can be stripes fan and like the simplistic grooves and music but anyone who thinks she is a great drummer is sadly mistaken. get real peeps!

  • yeah, she is a natural though. I heard she has never taken lessons. I, with a lot of many more people, like it, its simple, good for a change.

    Anyway, it works.

  • I don't understand, how, exactly, is she bad?

  • it's not that she's bad, she's just extremely basic and unrefined. which is odd considering the band is only drum and guitar. but it works for them. actually i dont think the white stripes would be the white stripes if meg was incredible

  • why do folk slag off meg all the time-shes an awesome drummer-simple and brilliant-

like when hendrix got buddy on the go instead of mitch

    so there.

  • I do respect your opinion on Meg White although I believe Buddy Miles wasn't simplistic.

He was pretty much just as groovy as Mitch was on the kit in my opinion.

I mean, just listen to some of Jimi's bootlegs with Miles (NYC Record Plant I believe).

    Fresh and kicking.

By the way, awesome rendition of Rag and Bone. Killer vid. Thanks for uploading!

  • i wasnt dissin buddy or mitch i was probly just venting steam at all the usual 'megs shit' comments :-)

    i think meg should do a 'hot-licks' style instructional vid..hahahaha..now that'd be awesome..boom bapp boom boom bapp..yaaaas

  • Hehe, I understand. Hey its human emotion to react and I do that all the time too.

I believe that with time, I grew to like her style of playing. It really is fitting for the records that they have produced.

The climax of most of their songs is evident with her playing. I just love that aspect hehe.

  • @bigbigsound

it's because she clearly doesn't have the potential to be anything but simple

  • @mullamike well you can listen to neil peart and thomas lang and marco miniman..

also suck my balls, twice. with mustard and a telefunken u47 in faux leather

  • For the person asking about his sound:

he plays through a vintage silvertone 1485 for the crunch sound and a fender something or other for his reverb...

he uses a big muff fuzz pedeal and a whammy on some songs to emulate bass parts and a booster to make his leads cut....

the guitar he plays with the white stripes is a vintage airline with low output pickups

  • wow anybody know how he gets that amazing sound in his guitar??

  • Jack makes the sound awesome,,, guitars arent even ment to produce awesome sounds like this!

  • erm..........

  • umm.... im sure they r... or they wouldnt....

  • i bow to the masters of music

  • umm who ever said ur IQ is 117 ur a moron stop filling the comment page with shit and just say how FREAKING AWESOME THIS BAND IS!!!!

  • 1 word: ROCKS

  • i was there, awesome concert

  • shame theres no singin but they r still frickin ace

  • That boy has real down 'n' dirty Detroit soul. And if Meg ever learns to play the drums their band will never sound good again.

  • meg does her job and she does it well. she keeps time. that's what a drummer is for....and besides the white stripes could not do with an amazing drummer.....they're breaks are too spur of the moment. that's the point :)

  • she's a great drummer. excellent rythm. drummers these days always try to do too much

  • Not just rhythm. She can do better than she recordes. She purposely simplifies her beats for the sake of the song. I know that being best is not as important as the music. She deserves respect without all the fancy playing.

  • They have no steady tempo in this version. I love the song though! Jack goes up and down in speed when he's playing by himself.

  • Never heard of muse. (I must be getting old.)

Who gives a damn. If you don't like the White Stripes, move along, nothing to see here. Plenty of other things on youtube.

  • y are we talking bout U2 in a video thats completely different and a lot better.

  • Lol dont be such a faggot exitsoul

  • not many words here (in the song)

  • he doesnt sing? ='( *sob*

  • muse is exactly like U2, the most overrated rock band ever. they are crap. haha

  • its all opinion...if u listen to white stripes chances are u don't like muse cause ur not into that style...ive seen them both live and i agree muse does put on a better show but there are a lot more white stripes song i like

  • haha muse is about as good as my big toe

  • U2 is not overrated, dumbass...muse sucks..but at least U2 rights their lyrics with meanings, instead of throwing shit lyrics in and only writing the music

  • Adio, you can't even spell if your life depended on it.

Second of all, yes, U2 is overrated. Ever since they started again in 2000, they've been horrible since.

You honestly think Vertigo's a great song?

Hell, that whole album blowed. Please listen to better music, idiot.

  • I think U2 is overrated also.They aren't bad,but badly overrated.

  • Overrated is too much for U2....THEY JUST SUCK!

  • they dont suck, they have a few good songs, but i do agree they are overrated

  • Agreed. U2 is just a bunch of dinosaur rockers that are looking for more money.

Bring on originality. Bring on The Stripes!

  • haha, what the hell have you even LIStENED to to Muse? It is very far off from U2, man. And I don't think you could produce a valid argument of how exactly Muse is overrated, because I'm quite sure there is none.

  • haven't read this whole conversation but anyone who says muse are overrated is talking out of their ass!!!!!!!!

  • OMG muse is sooooo booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring

  • Milan, a very modern industrialized city in Northern Italy. Lots of business there, opera and fashion. Supposedly awesome city although I've never been personally =)

  • This is simple. Italia is Italian for Italy! OMG! Milano is Italian for Milan! OMG! Milan, Italy is a famous place. If you don't believe me you can look it up on the internet.

  • i was trying to give u a thumbs up and i pressed da wrong thing sry

  • thanks

  • Love this band muchly! their awesome.

  • whers the singing and stuff and some of the beats are like missing =P

  • we gona get it granyy while its hot!

aw meg don't be rude. Why not? cuz they might ned the stuff! omg lol! i love this song...but crappy quality. I heard someone say Mama Mia around 1:00.

  • that was tooooooo short

  • JACK WHITE IS GOD

  • are you fucking serious?

  • YOU TALKIN TO ME ?

  • doesnt get to the 80 points ?

where didnt you study english ?

just so you know, my IQ (based on the Ravens Adavanced Matrices) is 110, not quite in the top 2% but im guessing still far superior to you, SO, as you clearly DO NOT play guitar and therefore have NO IDEA of just how talented Jack really is, keep your negative comments to yourself, another BS comment left after 1 of mine just might mean your head on a stick mate - GET IT

  • Uh, I love Jack White too, but his style isn't overly complicated.

  • That's the best part about the White Stripes. They prove that you don't need to play complicated music to sound amazing.

  • me 2, my band is called Purple Koosh check us out on myspace :)

IMO Jack is, by far, the best guitarist of his generation just like Page or Hendrix so yes, (again its only my opinion) Jack is a musical god.

  • ok... go on you.

  • Hate to say it... but he's not up against much,he's still great though.

  • haha! :]

  • were gonna get it granny while its hot you think its trash granny but its not well keep taking whatever you got

jump up all you stupid people and dont be afraid to rock

  • the best song of the ablum!

  • "It's like a Mansion"

    "Look at all this stuff!"

    "Aw Meg, Don't be Rude"

    My fave lines!

  • wow I love this song !!!!!!

  • the random shots of meg's energetic drumming sillhouette on the red backdrop looked really cool. great performance, thanks for sharing!

  • i'm in loooove

  • is this like half way through the song or wat? i wanna see this made into a music video, Meg and Jack walking through a house, "look at all this stuff!!"

  • omg, how great would that be???????? whoo!

  • " It's like a mantion! " You're totally right it would make a killer video! And Meg all bully saying -I saw some stuff in ye yard are you gonna give it to us?!

  • i love this song!

  • actually their debut and de stilj were quite bluesy...white blood cells was the least bluesiest and the 3 that followed are bluesy as well.

  • if you re replying to my message super68man.read it again. i didnt say that white blood cells was a bluesy album.i said it was their best in my opinion and that the stuff they re doing since elephant sounds a lot like the first two albums...cheers!

  • ok the white stripes best album is white blood cells..after that they got too bluesy and 60s...we're in the 00s for christ sake..come up with some new music..the 60s and 70s are over...

  • white blood cells and de stijl are their most bluesy albums? the last two have been the least bluesy

  • Too blusey!!! I don't think that's actually possible!

  • De Stijl was the bluesiest album they've done, and that was BEFORE White Blood Cells.

  • Saw them in London ON a few weeks ago and they were, by far the BEST band live I have EVER seen. Jack + Guitar and Keyboards at the same time=BEYOND IMPRESSIVE

  • If they weren't going to do the dialogue in between they shouldn't have played it at all. Thats the theme of the song, what makes it unique, what makes it funny, so they should try to stick to it. Lest' they want to be booed.

  • they would never get booed you cock head....

  • its one of their more rocky songs, it goes with Screwdriver a lot.

  • in the live versions they don't said all the speak part of the song ??

  • meg is awesome and all... but she needs to learn to keep a beat properly...jack white could do so much better, im sorry to any one who feels differant

  • Ever heard of The Raconteurs?

  • yes isent jack in them

  • your just hating because shes a girl

  • no that has nothing to do with it, i know plenty of great female drummers...infact a close friend is a very good drummer... i just dont like meg...she cannot hold a beat very well

  • she has gotten much better for this album though

  • jack just decided to play this song changing the tempo throughout

  • I agree with sethnuva. I like her style, but she needs to learn to keep a steady beat. I've been a drummer for several years and I can feel her dragging, pulling the beat down. If she could stay just on tempo it would be infinitely better.

  • i didn't hear any singing o.o

  • woha!! pogooo a go-go e fango altrettanto the white stripes 4 ever!!

  • che figata di concerto! meno male che in prima fila non c'era fango :)

  • i think muhammad ali shoot this

  • lol

  • i'm making a 3 state journey to see them in concert this year, LOVES THE STRIPES!

  • same here or maybe it only two not sure but its a 14 hr drive.

  • shadow behind him is illll

  • First-ever live performance, eh? Nice!

  • gran concerto...c'è stato un po' troppo fango, ma....wow

  • why isn't he singing?

  • maybe he didn't want to "give away" the song too much before people heard it on the album..

  • The piece is more or less like some of floyds work, music sparsed with spoken word and foley effects, but the stripes don't use the same equipment,i.e. prerecording tracks to play over their set. Rag and Bone is more theatrical, it strikes me as a song better on the album, unless jack and meg are in the mood to make blieve on stage.

  • a bit shaky

  • thats something to write home about ;)
