JOE "KEEP THE SILENCE" PATERNO valued his reputation and legacy over the welfare of poor innocent children. JOE "KEEP THE SILENCE" PATERNO made his choices and he reaped what he sowed in the last few months of his life. I won't rejoice in his death or say he deserved death from a terrible disease, but i do take solace in knowing he got to see it all crumble before him before he went. NOW LETS HOPE THAT JUSTICE DOES THE SAME TO JERRY "THE DEVIL" SANDUSKY!
joe pa's death was so heartbreaking. A man who gave so much of his life being the epitome of just and fair lost his job and his life because of something a man he trusted did. He was a great man and i hope no one forgets what he did for young men and women that attended psu.
@patterson561 I hope so...I just can't understand why so many people are attacking Joe Paterno for what Sandusky did. The child abuse is all on Sandusky, not Paterno. That just seems so wrong to me to blame Paterno.
Course as you Nittany Lions are probably well aware of, Ohio State is not bowl eligible next year because of what Tressell did, which is bullshit in itself because that's not fair to the seniors or any of the new recruits. But we are all BIG TEN and we WILL get thru it.
@music14501 I totally agree, they took football away from him, it was his life, for, I'm sure you know, how many years? I've always told my fellow Buckeye fans that Joe Paterno would die and be buried on the Nittany Lions field. I am so sorry that it had to end in the way it did. I may be Ohio State and you all may be Penn State, but we all are BIG TEN!
it is sad because this man did so much but when it comes down to it people will only remember him for what he did not do rather than what he did.....
It's a lesson learned to everyone, that if we are to hear or see anything bad we must take in full responsibility to stop it. Epically if nothing is being done about it. Do not leave it up to someone else because most of the time nothing ever gets done...In my respect I say GOD Bless you Joe Paterno and your family
I am an Ohio State Buckeye Fan. My heart goes out to all of Penn State. He was the last of the greatest coaches in college football history. Woody Hayes, Bo Schembecler, Bear Bryant, just to name a few. I am so sorry for your loss, God Bless you all.
@Pikesburgh Nebraska fan of Penn State (newly) that is TRYING to be respectful of the situation. I find myself having a hard time because of media infiltrating my world and then it occurs to me why do I give the media of the world he used to live in the time of day as they were the ones pre-guessing when he died without checking with the people who know him and love him!! LOL (well not but that about summs up my thoughts) I will admit an attitude about psu but I am seeing a softening
@Pikesburgh of attitudes about stuff and I probably am softening too in 100% feeling hate towards JP. Sad that he died so soon because I have a feel attitudes will change by spring if given time. not 100% thinking he is perfect but realizing an effort was made.
How dare some of you!! This man is college football And he did not cover for him when he found out about it he told one of the main people at penn state in my eyes that means more then going to the police he was a veteran a ivy league grad a motivator a teacher a father to millions and would have gave every dollar in his pocket to make penn state a better place what the media did to him his wrong, Sandusky is gonna burn in hell that's a guarantee but Paterno is sitting at a table in heaven look
WE ARE PENN STATE. Joe Pa was a truly great man. A leader of men who donated millions of dollars to our university. He did what he was supposed to do- he reported the allegation to his supervisors. Sincerely, John Wayne Gacy.
@brooksy21071411 This about sums it up. JP got worse treatment for not reporting JS actions than JS for DOING them. I can imagine how that must have made JP feel. and I know he isn't a kid but (other than that he hadn't grayed alot in 85 years) JP looked so much older than MM and I realize how much this was the kid that admired JP and JS and probably had that much harder of a time not disrespecting JS and JP. He probably respected them to the nth degree and die for them.
the recent info that came out about what was "witnessed" by mcqueary was that he heard what he referred to as "sexual sounds". then he saw a boy peak around the corner of the shower stall, then saw an older arm pull the kid back. i'll be the first to admit that is extremely creepy and I'd think the worst. But is it witnessing a sexual act? It's like assuming every spouse that has to work late is actually cheating with a coworker. The victim testimony in this is what is damning not mcqueary's.
i'm surprised by the number of people that have no clue what the purpose of a grand jury is. just because there is a statement in a grand jury report does not make it anywhere close to being fact. a grand jury is designed to get witnesses basic stories down to see if there is any smoke to determine if there is reason to have a trial. but it also is done to take away wiggle room with testimony. it takes cross examination to get to the truth and that will let us know who knew what and when.
@angrthe media got this wrong man i was a victim as a child the last thing i want is the wrong guy getting the death penalty for something some one else did Joe called the campus cops they are real cops had to go the Police Academy just like ether cops if you want someone take the head of the department take his headyamerican
@jestertcf It's sad that someone who works or has worked with you can commit horrible acts & it's sad when the media & it's political correctness can turn public opinion against a good person like Paterno & make him look out to be a monster...Just remember Sandusky is the monster. Period.
This is a Great Vid. Love to see my alma mater represented this way. This is how it should be showed in the media. Keep up these videos whoever you are!
No matter how things ended up, there is still a 62-year career to be taken in full. Objective people will consider both ends, and realize Joe is human like all other men, and that his good cannot be forgotten, and his flaws can be overlooked. On balance, he helped many times more people than he had a hand in hurting. But... everyone must decide for himself which part of Joe's legacy will dominate the memory of him. Joe brought that on himself.
