What a great man, he sold all the government luxury cars, bicycled or used motorcycle, refused to use air condition. freed his country from the grip of imperialism and economic neo-colonaism. changed his country's name to "Burkina Faso", wrote a new National Anthem with his own Guitar, freed all women, and give back land to peasant, and was killed before he accomplished much, much more, he was tireless working for.

There can be only one democracy when everybody can have three square meals as each other person and not a particular class of people cuz they spent money on political campaigns.
From what I've read on Sankara he had some good goals but had the wrong approaches to bringing them about. like other African marxist and marxist in general once in power he became authoritarian with his rule. Why do all marxist see the need to control the press?? Basically the problem I see with these marxist revolutionaries is that they end up replacing one form of oppression(imperialism)with another(marxism). I mean name me one marxist leader who was democratic?
@CrowdPleeza I can't , but Sankara once said(very smart of him actually) "le bonheur est a nous, par nous seule on peut le definir" or"our happiness~, Only we can define it" this does not mean oppression. it means freedom, not today's "democracy" when u can use you're freedon to insult others, corrupt, steal , discriminate and oppress. I don't think you can call him a marxist or anything .He just wanted to free his people from greedy bastards .btw we still love him..so he wasn't that bad lol.
@CrowdPleeza you can't have democracy and freedom of press when you have the CIA, M15, MIF, UN, WFP and other Western imperialism, neo-colonism, steering trouble behind your back to kill any good leader to keep their grip on Africa. the struggle continues, until we are free at last, one day, I hope!
Those organizations were trying to stop communism. They probably didn't go about it in the best ways. Also don't ignore the fact that many bad African leaders like the ones in Ethiopia and Equitorial Guinea were supported by people like Fidel Castro. I have problems with people thinking that socialist were more liberating for Africa. Africa's socialist and marxist leaders ended up being just as corrupt, repressive and brutal as the western backed African leaders.
Are you even African? Because you are talking like those self-called Western intellectuals who would kill, if needed, to force Africans to choose democracy. Please do not let your textbooks and the media fool you. Capitalism and "Democracy" are more harmful to Africa, in this stage, than socialism. Democracy is nothing but a polished form of dictatorship.
When it comes to Africa I basically advocate that more Africans look at what Seretse Khama did with Botswana after independence then try to adapt that to their country's situation. Seretse Khama didn't nationalize the economy and didn't declare Botswana to be a one party state like too many post colonial leaders did. He used his peoples use of village style meetings as a way to debate problems. In other words Seretse implemented an modern African style democracy for Botswana.
Raul Castro recently laid off 500,000 public sector workers to go work in the private sector. Cuba is moving towards capitalism now. Post colonial Africa has already had several leaders who were socialist and marxist. What good did any of it do for the continent?? Africa needs more market economies combined with good legal systems and democracies for it to see real development. Everybody in this day an age knows a pure socialist system doesnt work.
@CrowdPleeza So, although there’ll be a real capitalist sector now, this does not mean that Socialism is being betrayed whatsoever. This Cuban NEP (New Economic Policy) is a result due to the (CAPITALIST) crisis, and so to keep the Socialist economy alive in Cuba, these rulings are an absolute must. I truly do think Raul has a handle on this and knows what he’s doing.
So is Cuba then moving towards a socialist-market-economy? Countries that have adopted that approach seem to be dictatorships like China and Vietnam. So since Cuba is a dictatorship they'll fit right in.

How many more shall we loose in the march for the freedom of our people before we realize that it is our common stupidity that is actually killing us all? Why do we like celeberating the dead by hypocritically making them heroes only after they are dead? Worshipping the dead is now appearing to be part of our political tradition and who knows whether the imperialist is not part of this conspiracy?
You will always be missed and loved forever having a place in the hearts of ALL africans who wanted what you strived for a better africa for its people. REST in perfect PEACE.
My point was that Botswana has done a better job of managing it's resources because they took a more capitalist and democratic approach to their economy and governing after independence.
Some good news with this is the increase in business privatization in some African countries. State run companies contributed to corruption and tribalism because that's where the money was for easy looting and various ethnic groups wanted their people to be the main beneficiaries of the money generated by these state owned companies. Privatization has decreased corruption and tribalism.
This is a poor tipical neoliberal argument. for sure u are not african. if you were you woul have known the dameges due to liberalisation and the lie it was in africa. you talk about botwana and then u will say china and the asian dragon right? capitalist always try to manipulate people and the way they present things. sorry for u this the subject of my studiy actually. don't try to give us the disease which is killing western countries now. we don't want and don't need this religious ideology
Pre-colonial Africans were free to trade, the value of goods were determined by barganing(the market). African kings and chiefs didn't impose price controls,pre-colonial Africans could own property etc. The Mali Empire was well known for trade. Botswana built on this after independence.
How well market reforms work has much to do with how they're implemented and regulated. There are better models out there. Estonia and Poland provide examples for how to implement privatization. African leaders should examine these two country's privatization methods. Regulations should be moderate.
I don't like wasting my time with people like you who 1) don't know what they are talking about but still want to give their opinion 2) take us as a fool 3) are not strong enough to argue with me. We have study all this theory too "liberalisation is good for growth, growth is good for the poor so liberalisation is good for the poor". very strange to notice that obama come back to protectionnism when things are going bad. we all know that is the only way for a country to grow
It's what they all did, thailande, usa. u cannot been open and grow in the same time. and for god seek leave our parents alone. when u want to show us like primitive u people use their example and to support ur criminal capitalist argument u to do as if you something about them. let me remind you that africa is a continent. go back to your basic anthropology to learn how different africans are.
So stop talking about africa, you know nothing about us and about what we need.
Sankara tried to get us closer to the light but the people who killed him did not want to see the light, may he rest in peace in the sunlight presence of god.he died for a cause that he believed.

There's a stillness in time
Which I cannot define
Does your heart bleed like mine?
For a place we can go
Where the troubles of our time are far away
Hey, they're so far away
And I had all my life in front of me
Now my darkness days are trouble free
There are so many wondrous things for you to see ... (Jamiroquai, Song)

How many more shall we loose in the march for the freedom of our people before we realize that it is our common stupidity that is actually killing us all? Why do we like celeberating the dead by hypocritically making them heroes only after they are dead? Worshipping the dead is now appearing to be part of our political tradition and who knows whether the imperialist is not part of this conspiracy?

the Westerner powers never like Africa to move forward ,they have being the key problem since the time of independence .

Why haven't those same western powers interfered with Botswana?
CrowdPleeza 3 years ago
U don't know a lot about africa if you ask the question. it's better you stay with your people and let africans talking together. ok? thanks!
misscordelia03 2 years ago
My point was that Botswana has done a better job of managing it's resources because they took a more capitalist and democratic approach to their economy and governing after independence.
CrowdPleeza 2 years ago
Some good news with this is the increase in business privatization in some African countries. State run companies contributed to corruption and tribalism because that's where the money was for easy looting and various ethnic groups wanted their people to be the main beneficiaries of the money generated by these state owned companies. Privatization has decreased corruption and tribalism.

This is a poor tipical neoliberal argument. for sure u are not african. if you were you woul have known the dameges due to liberalisation and the lie it was in africa. you talk about botwana and then u will say china and the asian dragon right? capitalist always try to manipulate people and the way they present things. sorry for u this the subject of my studiy actually. don't try to give us the disease which is killing western countries now. we don't want and don't need this religious ideology
misscordelia03 2 years ago 2
Free markets/free trade are African.
Pre-colonial Africans were free to trade, the value of goods were determined by barganing(the market). African kings and chiefs didn't impose price controls,pre-colonial Africans could own property etc. The Mali Empire was well known for trade. Botswana built on this after independence.
CrowdPleeza 2 years ago
How well market reforms work has much to do with how they're implemented and regulated. There are better models out there. Estonia and Poland provide examples for how to implement privatization. African leaders should examine these two country's privatization methods. Regulations should be moderate.

I don't like wasting my time with people like you who 1) don't know what they are talking about but still want to give their opinion 2) take us as a fool 3) are not strong enough to argue with me. We have study all this theory too "liberalisation is good for growth, growth is good for the poor so liberalisation is good for the poor". very strange to notice that obama come back to protectionnism when things are going bad. we all know that is the only way for a country to grow
misscordelia03 2 years ago 2
It's what they all did, thailande, usa. u cannot been open and grow in the same time. and for god seek leave our parents alone. when u want to show us like primitive u people use their example and to support ur criminal capitalist argument u to do as if you something about them. let me remind you that africa is a continent. go back to your basic anthropology to learn how different africans are.
So stop talking about africa, you know nothing about us and about what we need.
God bless africans
