The song always makes me homesick, and the idea of homecoming Scotland was quite good, however the SNP only used it as a tool to try and drum up support. It was only advertised in Scotland, never saw anything about it down here in England. Why you would need to encourage Scottish people living in Scotland to go to Scotland is beyond me. I only really knew about it because the Scottish Cup was sponsored by it and I saw the adverts whenever I landed in Glasgow Airport.

That's not true at all, you see advertisments from agencies around the world on TV in Scotland and England. I have seen a couple of Visit Scotland adverts in the cinema which were unrelated to homecoming, I've also seen adverts for Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Asian countries. The people who were in charge of Homecoming could easily have advertised in England, especially considering it probably contains the most Scots who would be able to return home easily.

@Supermassively Swim? Row? I parted with £800 for a return flight Edinburgh-Newark with Continental Airlines last summer, only time I've ever been to the States so that's all I know. I looked up sailing though because it sounded like fun, only proper luxury cruisers offer that now. If you want to come visit better start counting the pennies and book far far far in advance! Helps to keep costs down.

The song always makes me homesick, and the idea of homecoming Scotland was quite good, however the SNP only used it as a tool to try and drum up support. It was only advertised in Scotland, never saw anything about it down here in England. Why you would need to encourage Scottish people living in Scotland to go to Scotland is beyond me. I only really knew about it because the Scottish Cup was sponsored by it and I saw the adverts whenever I landed in Glasgow Airport.

That's not true at all, you see advertisments from agencies around the world on TV in Scotland and England. I have seen a couple of Visit Scotland adverts in the cinema which were unrelated to homecoming, I've also seen adverts for Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Asian countries. The people who were in charge of Homecoming could easily have advertised in England, especially considering it probably contains the most Scots who would be able to return home easily.

listen 'scatman' until Scotland has a referendum I think you should keep your fiddled figures to yourself. 62% currently say they wish to remain part of the UK but if it came to a vote/referendum I think you will find about 55% would wish to stay part of the UK. What Scotland needs is total control on its own affairs and in my view that includes the Scottish forces and also fishing rights to its own waters, England can of course keep their haggis!

I am not sure what to think of the video. Wonder if the Proclaimers would have been good in it. I am of Scottish ancestry on my dad's side. My dad's father was a Glover, under the Angus tartan. My dad's mother was from the Carnegie side with ancesters from McGowan, Dunbars and Walkers. I have been to Scotland twice and love it. I can see why my ancestors settled in Montana, USA since the mountains are very much like those in Scotland but much colder.
