  • "The very first time i touched your skin, i thought of a story and rushed to reach the end too soon."

  • I try not to abuse people, because i know it's wrong, but today i am going to make an exception ... just for you. DELTAFOVERDELTAX you are a dropped-diff, bucket-ass, walking through your blizzard of bullshit, cocksucking, Kentucky Fried Chicken-eater. Do yourself a favor, learn to say something nice or shut the fuck up, you fuck-ass!

  • DELTAFOVERDELTAX, none of your YouTube comments are positive. Have you got some issues? Join the fucking club! I recommend you try saying something positive for once ... or drop dead ... either is fine.

  • me too dude,,,ALso CUre fans are different people ..you can't compare them with the crowd....Because Robert Smith's lyrics are just so deeply special!!!

  • at the same time, we cure fans are so diverse. You never know who has them in their IPod.

    the cure is the best!

  • GREAT SONG!!!

  • And Miki Gonzales stole his music off of the Ska bands from Jamaica. But whose really crying because this is how music is born. One artist is inspired by another, and so on, and so on. This is what makes men know that they are God like. It's the same insturments for centuries, but it still keeps growing and every changing. Why? Because each one has thier on spin on what the see and hear. The Cure are a great band, like it or not. If they were not then you wouldn't have made a post on this page.

  • Damn the strings on that bass guitar are really loose XD

  • Whenever I think of any great bass, I get this picture in my head of a dood playing some enormous electric bass, about the size of a double bass, but worn like a guitar, and it has enormous loose strings the size of rope!

And this is maybe the best song by anyone ever.

  • 80's KROQ... LA's BEST

  • one of my favorite Cure songs/videos - have loved it for a good 20+ years now

  • ME too! I still have my vinyl single!

  • One of the greatest songs to exemplify the great use of Flanger pedals.

  • awesome!

  • One of my favourite Cure songs. Wonderful.

  • Is it true that Robert wrote this as a tribute to Ian Curtis shortly after his death? This song is responsible for getting me hooked on them. . . Love it.

  • I've not heard this rumour before...let me know if you find proof the rumour is true ;)

  • I checked, yeah my memory failed me a bit. Here, according to Wikipedia: "Primary" was first played during the Seventeen Seconds tour under the name "Cold Colours" with completely different lyrics (aside from the chorus) and a slightly different bassline; interestingly, the song would often be introduced as dedicated to Ian Curtis. Towards the end of the year, the song was renamed "Primary".

  • damn what a track!!!

  • love the cure love the song

  • one of my the cure favs ever too great time great miss T-T

  • This is one of my favorite songs; ever. Personally, I think this should have much more than the number of views it has. But hey, you can't always get what you want (ahaahahhaha) when many people now are into (this is only my opinion) not the best music.

  • great song:D:D

  • I wonder how much Peter Hook influenced the Cure on that bass sound (or conversely).

  • hook played a lot on the standart guitar octave, this one is very low tone

  • He often did, though not always. But what I had in mind was the carrying of the melody by the bass, which is very Hookish (or Millsish, for that matter).

  • Amazing, amazing song. One of my favorite Cure songs, easily. What a bass line!

  • So good, damn I miss the times when I first heard this.

  • Nice quality vid. One of my faves. Other voices is my #1 (don't ask me why. . . must be that bass line).

Thank god this sort of stuff has become available to us via You Tube (let's hope they stay remotely honest).

    Thanks!

  • i've never heard this song; it's awesome, thanks for posting!

  • this is one of their best songs - great video - thanks for posting this - 5 stars

  • That's cool that the video began with Johnny Thunders......

  • I see two black fender 4 string bass' All I read is fender vi 6 string bass... and Simon on music mann? What did they use on this track? I hear two bass'.

  • Its just two basses. Simon is playing chords and robert is playing high notes.

  • essential Cure !!!!

  • Damn...what can ya say!!??!!

  • The talent that is not learned.

No the equivalent today with The Cure.

    1981 = Robert Smith old 22

  • Are there two bass' in this song?

  • The info says: "The Band the Cure".

Can we just leave it at "The Band" from now on?

  • Because there is already a band called the band

  • this song is the real cure, not that "friday im in love" crap.

  • amen to that. darker albums like faith and pornography are true cure.

  • yeah and seventeen seconds lol.

  • your on crack. every song they do is amazing and the real cure.

  • for some reason ever since i started listenin to the cure i have not stoped listening to the cure and its not like 10 songs a day because what i meen is i listen to them at least 10 hours a day they are the best thing that ever happened to music

  • Oh my god! He looks like a baby! When did we all get old? Today I found out my body is doing more "HA HA! You're not 20 anymore!" crap to me, and I haven't even hit 40 yet! Where the hell did the time go, and how do we get it back? Where's a DeLorean when you need one???

  • MARTY!!!

  • I was fuckin 16 wow Im 44 shit its just fuking all a waste

  • I was 15 and now I am 43.

    Oh no...

    Has it been that long?

  • Saw them at San Diego State University during The Head on the Door tour when they were in the decline. They wer great in the beginning and middle and managed to knock out a couple good songs at the end also....

  • hell yeah i had no idea there was a vid for this song i love primary...

  • AHHHHHHHHHH how young we all looked circa 1981,, this always got me out on the dance floors of NYC ( and it probably would these days also) great classic new wave

  • i read somewhere that this song is a tribute to ian curtis of joy division

  • it isn't exactly a tribute to ian curtis. it wasn't written for him but robert smith made it a point to dedicate it to ian during live performances. a beautiful gesture from one beautiful artist to another

  • he looks kinda like Robert Pattinson

  • the cure are better and always be better than the manufactured crap of today!

great band so many styles and variations

    over 20 years

  • I agree. I wasn't even born when the Cure started out. Yet their music does not sound dated at all. Their sound is as relevant today as when it was released.

  • Smith is timeless. He appeals even now to the younger generation, in addition to the children of the 70's and 80's...

  • The very first time I saw your face I quickly changed the tune...

    such a classic!

  • No, it is "The first time I saw your face, I thought of a song, AND quickly changed the tune"

  • NO! It's "the very first time I saw your face, I thought of a song, and quickly changed the tune."
