No not really, the building is just a metal frame with concrete steping and cladding. It is not very economical to run a two screen cinema. Many distributors insist that they have exclusive use of the screen during a week's run, meaning you can't (for example) screen a matinee of Toy Story 3 and an evening screening of Inception. Some old screens have been split to make smaller cinemas, but it'd be much easier to knock down and start from scrach with a modern disabled friendly design.
This brings back memories, I worked at the regal on the floor and as a projectionist when it closed. The black handles on the wall next to fred are the light faders for all the different lights in screen 1. The projector that fred talks about was not the one in operation at the time, you can just see the cream lamphouse, to the right which was the operational projector for screen 1. Behind the camera are steps that lead down into the screen 2 projection box.
It's a shame that they keep closing down these nice BIG theaters in favor of 18-20 shoeboxes in the same sized building. When people go to the cinema, they want to see a film on a BIG SCREEN, not a 10-foot sheet in a 50-seat auditorium. Truly sad.
You may be interested to know I have rescued the old carbon arc projector Fred demonstrates in this film. I have restored it and cleaned it up. It will eventually go on display at the Univeristy of Bradford. Video will follow when I get it edited together!
RIP regal cinema :'(
wouldnt it be cheaper to restore than demolish it and build on the land...???

There is very little call for a 1000 seater screen these days.
