@MusicallyRetardedKid Bro, don't give up! I know it's hard. But trust me, it's all worth it. Five months down the road and you'll get used to it. Keep playing and your fingers wont bleed as time passes by. Plus, it's normal for your fingers to bleed after playing guitar. 1 month is such a short time. You can't expect your fingers to get used to the guitar in 1 month. Press on bro! Don't give up :)

nice teaching covered alot for a amature guitarist. One good idea is to instead of just giving down and ups is to say the number and say 'and' for the up-strum eg 1,2and,and, 4 and(missing the third down). so the viewer can get a good idea of time. I dont know how that works with others but that really helps me with my chord changes. If anyone follows.

Me too - I just practiced over and over with one of the chords, strumming down, then chucking up. After about 10 minutes, I got the hang of it and was able to combine all 3 chords with chucks. Eventually it just sort of clicked.

Me too! I don't think the Fmaj7 sounds so great on the uke, though. Do you play it: 0557 (in other words, index on 5th fret, C string, middle finger on 5th fret, E string, and ring finger on 7th fret, A string)? It just sounds so horrible in this song!

F and Am sounds the same to me

lol.. There's a very small difference between them so they should sound similar. In the Am-chord the note on the 'D string' is an 'F' while in the F-chord it is an 'F#' so inact there is only a half-step difference between them but as you play more chords you will feel the difference in pitch - obviously F has a higher pitch.

One more point tho, the chord he taught in this song is not a true F but an Fmaj7 i think. Good l=luck, i was once a beginner myself :-)

Hey I have a question. I am a total beginner, I don't really know anything. Don't Panic is one of my favorite songs and I would like to learn how to play it. But I'm obviously not up to that just yet. When you're switching chords, how do you do it so smoothly? When I try, there is this clicking noise that comes from my fingers accidently hitting into the wrong strings. Advice?

i dont know if n e 1 answered ur question, but its really just practice that will get u changing chords smoothly. I recomend practicing all the open chords CAGED individually then practice shifting chord to chord. It took me about 6 months to get it completely right, but then again im a slow learner. U mite have got it by now

Really, it just takes practice. But if you lift your fingers up more, and actually watch your fingers move you'll get it quicker. Just keep practicing moving to the different chords(without strumming) and once you get it without the clicking then try doing it while strumming.

It worked for me, I hope it works for you.

Agreed, the fan is killing ya.. Try:

A. external mic (system mic tends to catch a lot of system noises)

B. adjust system power settings so processor runs slower (generates less heat, reducing need for fan)

C. prop up back end of the laptop to improve air flow underneath

D. try setting the laptop on an ice pack to keep it cool for the 10 minute videos (be sure it's sealed so your laptop doesn't get water in it)
