Now that's a real car! Take it out on the freeway and open it up. I bet she would cruise along at 100 mph with no sweat. Just don't stray to far from a gas station.
@storrs19 I know how that is! I have the same exact car, with the 440 4-barrel carb. I opened it up, went around 140mph, still wasn't topped, but for 13 miles took 4 gallons of gas.
This fine animal is designed to do Anything & Everything it Can Do!...and it Can Do It !! The '72 is still the largest production-model car EVER (but very close to this year) & it can & will do too!!!! Look how Nimble & Responsive this machine IS!! ~ I LOVE your video, brother!!! This car ran much faster than the 'factory specifications' (it will do over 150mph)!! One thing though, it needed better brakes!!! Excellent video.
yeah, this car is for cruising the long endless American highways....not for doing burnouts like some teenage douche bag that just got his license and borrowed dads car
@inkey2 we've all been there we all did it we all stole our parents cars and did dumb stuff they might not be classics now but in 10 20 years they might be if a car cant take a little punisment then build it up so it will dont build a 1000hp car just to cruise you build it to kick the shit out of other peopels rides
It's a shame. do you know how rare those cars are now a days??? I have a 69 Imperial Lebaron here on youtube. It definitely has the power like yours. difference is. Like others say, It's for cruisin. Mine does 90+ like nothing cuz that's what they were built for. not for racing and doing peel outs.
Nice car. I always wanted an Imperial of that vintage. I guess a donut is better than the usual fate of these mammoth fuselage Chryslers........ like a demolition derby.
damn you. That car was made for cruising the highways, not doing burnouts. Get a Chevy Camaro and do that stuff in. I grew up with big body Chryslers and i wish i had a car like that, to cruise long distance in--a 440 4 bbl and a built torqueflite trans, i know that big Chrysler would hum like a Caddilac.
Imperial abuse! For shame! Walter P. Chrysler isn't too happy about this, sonny!
1969 was first year for the 'fuselage' body style for all Imperials and Chryslers - made a Lincoln and Caddy look like oversize cracker boxes on wheels. Nice car, nice memories, to be sure.
reminds me of my teenage days in my moms 68 imperial 440 burning up Hawthorne blvd. then shin it up and bring it back to her... and after all these years Mom just gave it to me with only 86,000 mi. in cherry cond.
@DolittleMccoy, it catches attention especially in europe...seems they like these big ole American barges over there...I like em too, glad they drive them instead of derby them like everyone else does over here in the us.
Just because the car can do it doesn't mean you should do it, those cars were made for cruising and they could easily do 90 mph plus for an entire trip without a hiccup.
Before comparing this doughnut to what other cars can do, just remember how heavy the Chrysler Imperial is! The '69 Imperial is just a couple pounds shy of 5,000 pounds. It takes a LOT of power to move a car that heavy! My dad had a couple of Imperials. They were awesome. One was hit by a cement truck. The cement truck sustained more damage than the Imperial did...
THE IMPERIAL started out as a Chrysler , but from 1955 on , it became a SEPARATE MAKE AND DIVISION unto itself within the Corporation, and no longer bore the Chrysler name . Once a separate make, IMPERIAL got it's OWN models, THE CUSTOM , THE CROWN, AND THE LeBARON ( not to be confused with the later , cheaper Chrysler LeBaron) . So, the term "Chrysler" IMPERIAL APPLIED TO ALL IMPERIALS BUILT FROM 1955-1983 IS INCORRECT.
That's not nearly as disrespectful as derbying it. Doughnuts are more harmful to the environment and the pavement than to the car! Beautiful car, BTW.
Really amazing that a luxury car from the time period was so far ahead of it's time in the engineering department. Fun once in a while, but only 1617 Imperial Crown Sedans were ever produced. I hope you'll show it the respect it deserves.
I guess you can find trailer trash even in nice cars. What morons.

What a terrible way to treat the stately old Imperial. These were well engineered cars, but I hate to see them get beat on.

That car was made to eat up the road at 85 mph all day. Beat a camaro or mustang like that but leave the big block (440) for the interstate.
