The BEST advice: DON'T BUY BLU-RAY OR HD-DVD.
Instead, for the money, settle for a hi-end prog. scan DVD player with Farjouda or DVDO processing.
Hi-end offerings from Oppo and Denon are great prog. scan DVD players which will deliver a picture that can hold their own against hi-def.
As for the hi-defs, wait until one of them wins and then the choice will merely be what brand and model instead of what format.
VHS vs. Beta should have been the lesson to both consumers and the industry.
